The best!!! I have to change my thermostat now on my Altea 1.6 tdi..If I lived in Bitola this guy would be my mechanic... Keep up the good work!!!
Diesels do not have throttle bodies, they are controlled by fuel not air. That is an asv, it only closes when the engine turns off to prevent runaway, the rest of the time it is wide open so unless really fouled it won't make any difference cleaning it
Yes that is correct they only work when engine is shut down but because it's close to egr usually gets carbon build up and it's not closing all the way and trigger fault for throttle body
449'000 km with a EA189 Engine.👍

How often is it recommended to change the thermostat? And why did you change the plastic hose ?
There are no recommendations when there is a problem you replace parts to fix the problem in this case thermostat was open all the time and engine didn't reach normal working temperature and plastic hose was leaking and someone try to replace with rubber hose so I returned like the original
@@mechanicigor thanks for the video, i need to do same job for my - 11 cayc golf
Thank you for the helpful video... I noticed the engine warning light was on when you started the car... was this as a result of cleaning the throttle body, ? how did you switch it off ?
No this vehicle had other problem that's why check lamp was on
Hi. I am also starting to do this procedure, because I found a coolant leak.
Initially, I thought it was the water pump, but in that area everything remained dry. Then, I found that the area between the thermostat and the tube that you changed too, remains very wet.
I hope it is enough to change the thermostat and tube... and stop.
This problem in my case is on a Polo 1.6 tdi 90hp 2012. 135.000 km
Yes usually leaks there
@@mechanicigor where Is the exatly point of that leak ? Between thermostat and pipe ? It Is a broken o-rings ?
Anyway, i want to replace obviously both.
Sorry for my bad english :)
@@andream7636 usually the plastic hose is the problem but it's a lot easier to replace both and you are safe of another problem if you replace just one part
Do thermostates give trouble in this engine? I have 1.6 tdi touran 105 Bhp and temp doesn’t get past 45-50 even on long drive and not great heat inside car
Then you should replace it
@@mechanicigor was your one doing the same thing, Gauge not going up fully and not much heat inside car
@@peteracronin yes if it was working in one place for long time it would reach around 60 but if you turn the heating on then the temperature is going down
@@mechanicigor ok thanks for your help 🙏🏻
Is it normal for the 1.6 tdi to take more than 30 min to get to middle of engine temp gauge when it's -10 celsius outside?
Yes this engines to warm up requires more time
@@mechanicigor the engine temperature just sits between 0 and 90 when it's -15 outside, even after 30 minute drive. Never hits 90 when it's this cold, is that normal?
@@CATPLAYINGno
What is heater pipe o ring dimensions pls ?
I'm not sure but I think was 16x2.5
@@mechanicigor thx man
Hi, great video, if you don't mind ,could you confirm how many thermostats are on a manual 1.6 tdi cayc? Also I heard that there is a one way valve on the cooling hoses some where, if you could tell where to look for it I would greatly appreciate it. When it's 5 celsius outside my coolant temperature never goes above 65 celsius. Thank you
There is only one thermostat and I have disassembled whole engine but never saw one way valve that is not true
Also before I bought the car, it had the egr replaced, do you think it could be possible that they have switched the two coolant hoses that go in the egr?
@@zingzing5077 I don't think so it can't work without cooling
This engine even with new thermostat are not heating more than 70 degrees when temp outside is below 5 degrees
@@mechanicigor Mine sits at 65 celsius...when it's 5 outside...Should I try to replace the thermostat, or just leave it?
Great work
I have a vw caddy 2016 tdi 1.6 and the temp never go to 90 it sits at 70 80 c
but when I go 2500rpm (130km/h) for like 6 min temperature goes to 90 c and stay 90 for some time then drops
I don't know what the problem is !!
there is no problem even when they where brand new they never heat thats why they change the coolant pump on newer model
What is therefore normal operating temp for mixed driving?
@@BS-ge4ne should be always 90c
@give_me_yourcoinsninia7590 how is that cured if @mechanicigor mentions there's a design floor?
