The ibuprofen in Europe is prescription strength. Meaning the dosage is higher than one buys OTC. Therefore the cost is higher.

      Any idea how many mg?

    • @den2k885

@@ExpatsEverywhere Depends on the brand and pill. Moment (easily found on on the counter and advertised on TV) is 200mg, Brufen has 400 and 600 mg variations (600 will usually require a prescription though not always). I also know of 800 mg variations but personally never bothered with them. There are also the generic equivalents of these branded medicinals.
Some novelty medicine has "weird" amounts, wither lower than 200mg but mixed with other stuff or about 300. Never bothered with those either as they're usually costly.

Actually the one I bought from UK was 200mg, on par with moment, but it cosed 22c gor a box instead of the at least 2 € it cost the generic 200mg ibuprofene (the one I found in IT had a horrible texture which tries to stop in the throat btw, and I am a master of pill swallowing, capable of taking 2 or 3 large ones in a single time).

Expats have to find the right balance between meeting others expats and real Italian people. In the first the risk is to close yourself in a comfort bubble of English speakers and get out of real Italian life, culture and people.
