Your guest is echoing what i have seen for sometime even before Trump came on the scene, what the rank and file people who work in the US Federal and many State Institutions (refraining from using the “Deep State” but same thing) do to interfere with democracy in the US to tilt it to their own financial and job protection interests with the political party that shields and protects them, for being subjected to somewhat similar treatment from market forces of capitalism, that private sector employees may face.
The big majority of POTUS have come from backgrounds where they have been on Govt dole which gives them guaranteed defined pensions that at one time used to be common in the private sector too back before they globalized the manufacturing and outsourced blue and white collar jobs. The private sector could no longer do that so they switch to the 401K type of pensions where your investments grow to make your pension payments without incurring a liability to the employer that has become unsustainable for many Govt organizations. Even in China a few days ago they had to increase the retirement age. Macron has tried to reign this in and found how hard it is to scale it back. But this is where so much of your budget goes as people are living longer. All that money could be spent on so many things to remove homelessness or on the poor and development.
I recall how many lawyers in my home town in NJ in the 80s i played tennis with would talk about getting their wives some secretary jobs in the City or State or public schools so that they can get on this dole to pay for Cadillac health care and pensions and continue in their retirement..
Trumps election in 2016 and openly calling for reducing the abuse waste and fraud in the the Institutions swamp no wonder you saw people in the FBI texting each other about insurance to stop trump. And after his election the Russia hoax was spread and talked about non stop. No one revealed till a year or so into it that the Steel dossier was HRC hired, no leaks in the media from their buddies in the Institutions and yet the special counsel Durham report showed that Obama Biden and Comey were aware in a meeting briefing about a plan by HRC. In the 2020 election you saw Adam Schiff call, the Biden family corruption proof all in that laptop, as Russia disinformation and so did 50 ex national security guys they recruited. The FBI had this laptop from the year before but no leaks about it but in fact a directive to all social media companies in October 2020 to delete any reference to it. So this is how you can say they interfered with the 2020 election to get Biden elected which Trump puts foolishly differently instead of stating specifically what they did to "steal the election".
I have seen how aggressively the public unions operate in New Jersey to defend this and went after a democratic State President who tried to make changes and warn about runaway liabilities.
So this is their lifeblood and dependency on Govt dole as they don’t know about making a living in other ways like taking risks with their own money to invest in a company and create jobs and fail as many do in the private sector, or other means and won’t stop at anything to defend this. The only solution to this is to not allow politicans how to compensate them their salaries and benefits. Let it be decided by how well the middle private sector folks are doing with some metrics.
Then instead of voting 95% for one party or use their agencies to tilt or interfere with the election they will support the party or policies that will deliver the goods for everyone.
Another way i put this sometimes is pay the politicans the same way on some metrics of the results of their policies.
