Another great explanation, thanks for making it clear and concise.
It would be interesting to know how much knowledge of AutoCAD one needs to have to be considered a draftsman.

Thanks Brin, as far as I believe there is no yardstick to measure your level of knowledge for being considered as a draftsman, learn AutoCAD and directly jump into making drawings and with practice you will get really good at drafting :)

+SourceCAD I've been drafting with AutoCAD amidst my other duties such as pattern development (using Camduct and Cadmep) for a few years now, it's more that I'm curious what I might be expected to know should I ever have to find a new job. I have picked up a lot of good information over that time from various people including yourself and I love that their are people like you around. I don't expect to be looking for work elsewhere, it is just something I have wondered about for a while, sort of a benchmark to judge myself against.

The use of software changes with the type of industry and AutoCAD as a software is really very big and its applications also differ greatly in different industries. As far as I could say a basic understanding of draw and modify commands with knowledge of annotations, layout and dimensioning is sufficient to get started in any drafting firm but again a company may ask for some specific work experience which may be related to some projects that you have previously undertaken in previous organisations.
So its upto the firm to decide what they expect from a prospective candidate. I would recommend you to have a look at job description of some companies for the position of AutoCAD draftsman on job portals or their official website. It will give you a fairly decent idea of what they are exactly looking for in a candidate.
      Hope it helps Brin :)

Nice video, but I still have one problem. My object is composed of multiple objects, including blocks and different layers, all 3D. When I do a section, only one of the objects is sliced, and the other remain visible. How do I section everything at once?? Thanks!

How do you display depth in AutoCAD 3D, when you have a clutter pipes or floors in Model Space and you want to clip front and back of your design drawing?

very interesting, but it would be much better to use a "normal" 3d model than the dummy USB; thanks

Whenever I try creating the 3D layer, I just get a layer along the path of the section plane line ( a very thin 3D layer that doesn't show the whole object). Also, sometimes the object does not get cut even after I press "Activate live sectioning." Any advice?

You can take reference of other similar 3D drawings for practising to make a wash basin block here is the link to playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLcH1MIEuSvoH55AygdATks6ZX6dYO2kzA.html

Excellent video. I have a question and I hope that you can answer it. Is there a way to show diferent 3D sections in a layout?
I have a project where I have to able to see two or three 3d section from a water supply building. I hope that you can answer. Keep doing this greats videos.

how do you make a section view in the layout space without having the "live section" activated in all the viewports??? it seem stupid that it has to stay on to get that view

please help i dont know why but live sectioning does not work in some 3d drawings means it does not cut anything it just passes throgh like ghost :(
