I’ve always wondered what Germany would look like now had the Friekorp kept power after the coup, or what Russia would’ve looked like had the white army won.
If the Freikorps took power, they probably would’ve restored the monarchy and brought back the empire. Thus WWII would’ve likely not happened. If the white army won Russia would either be: 1. A liberal democracy. Contrary to popular belief, most of the white army supported the February revolution. It was only really the generals of the white army who were monarchists. 2. A Republican dictatorship, led by Kornilov or someone else. 3. The monarchists would’ve come to power made Russia to an absolute monarchy again. I think that would be the least likely.
@Nordbon1523 This is just my opinion since we simply don't know but I wouldn't be so optimistic in both options. The Freicorps had A LOT of Nationalistic and anti-Semitic tendencies so I am not sure if it would be as simple as just restoring the monarchy... Also even if the monarchy is restored that does not remove the countless problems Germany had at that time and most importantly immediately following the Great Depression (Mass unemployment, economic decline, hyper inflation - though from my understanding that is more the governments fault so maybe avoidable, Massive loans, reparations to pay etc.) and all those problems aren't removed simply by reinstalling an already unpopular monarchy. And to the second point I am also really not that optimistic about a White Army victory quite simply because the only thing the White Army had in common was that they were anticommunist. The white army had much more than just Monarchists and Republicans they also had Nationalists, proto fascists, moderate socialists, social Democrats... Quite simply everyone who was not a communist was part of the white movement no matter who it was. So had the Whites won they would immediately turn on each other on some sort of way or fashion in my opinion and start trying to get Russia for themselves. Additionally (might be wrong here if I am pls fact check me) the Whites were very against most if not all of the independents movements going on in Russia (Baltics, Poland, Finland, Ukraine and prob more) and only "supported" them due to pressure from the Entente (again I might be wrong take with a grain of salt). So any kind of peace between them if there was any at all might not be so permanent. So to conclude in my opinion the best case scenario for Russia in such a scenario would be a strongarm dictator who consolidates power, while the worst possible scenario would be some kind of total collapse and even more violence due to disagreement in the White movement... (If I am wrong in any of this pls fact check me)
@@a8er about Germany: The monarchists of the interwar years were very antisemitic and nationalistic, I know. Thing is, however, we’re imaging an entirely different regime. They would’ve no doubt enacted different policies and have a very different foreign policy. If WWII happened at least it would look entirely different from what it did OTL. About Russia: It’s true that they didn’t recognise the breakaway states like the Baltics and Finland, however reality isn’t a video game where you just invade countries. They likely wouldn’t (at least immediately) invade all the other smaller states likely due to fear of intervention of the western powers. And I put multiple scenarios for what Russia would look like. I don’t think Russia was guaranteed to become a democracy after the civil war if the whites won.
@Nordbon1523Ehm wait no ? Freikorps were employed by the SPD ? They were literally fighting for Weimar regime to topple the berlin spartacists and bavarian soviet. Only after they got disbanded they flocked to DNVP but this time as citizens and voters, not paramilitary.
Interesting fact: Several White army generals went on to support the Red Army during WW2 or the Great Patriotic War. Which makes me wonder what would happen if the Freikorps somehow to power instead of the Not-sees, would they have won in a hypothetical conflict with the USSR?
Maybe, it really depends on how prepared the army is when the hypothetical Freikorps-led Germany invade. A lot of mistakes that were made during the beginning of the war maybe wouldn’t happen. Also depends on they were going for a total victory like the Nazis did, that was a reason they lost. They overstretched themselves. The Freikorps-led Germany probably wouldn’t have to deal with an equally hostile population because their ideology wouldn’t be openly hostile to all Ukrainians, Russians and Belarusians. It really depends on the army and when they struck.
The sad part is the Croat partisans in the ww2 took the melody and made a communist about a fist crushing the enemy, i am strongly against the partisan movement and am saying that they have no right to take freikorps song

@Nordbon1523 In the second case, it would have looked liked Dollfuß Austria or Salazarist Portugal.

Из тайги, тайги дремучей
От Амура, от реки
Молчаливой грозной тучей
В бой идут сибиряки
They really seem to respect their former adversaries
@@cuber5003 they had the same enemy after all.

Who were those white army generals?
Well, no, actually quite the contrary
It has the same tune as the Yugoslav Partisan song “Po šumama i gorama
Интересно, когда была написана эта версия песни? Никогда её не слышал, тут про Кубань, да ещё и на немецком поётся, очень необычно.
German lyrics, please
same tune to the March Of The Siberian Riflemen
No shit , even the lyrics are the same in german
Interesante

The melody was originally a Russian partizan song.
@@glebb..3416 Lies. It was originally used by Imperial Army and then by White Movement and Reds
@@glebb..3416 изначально это была мелодия белой, сибирской армии написанная ещё до гражданской войны
