some additional info : 1. to (re-)boot in rooted mode (after the whole procedure is successfully done) I do not have to use the combo key, just the power key and it starts up rooted :-) 2. I have a natural disgust with all samsungs bloatware so I use rootcleaner to 'freeze' apps (so the phone has less useless BS running) but ... DO NOT FREEZE the Samsung Pay Services (even if you think you will never use it) because then your phone gets 'blocked' and you can restart the whole rooting procedure (starting to hard reset and re-flash the magisk modified AP) Just thought this was worth mentionin. Thanks again Mike (and cohorts) for the efforts !

@@talgootman4264 was it the vol up + bixby + power key? Try to not connect the cable usb to the phone. And is it the step after you finish with Odin? Because I think in that step you have to be careful and fast in order to install the stuff, not really sure sorry!
great video, was nice to re-visit even though i solved my magisk problem pretty easily accidentally on my own lol good tutorial and recommend rooting if you have intermediate knowledge of phones. I was a beginner at first and have lost the occasional bit of data and had the occasional "oh what have i done" moment. Saying this i have never totally bricked a phone and will continue to root my future phones as have have an overwhelmingly positive experience with rooted software :)

I rooted my S10. It was fully rooted before and everything seemed like it was working until I powered off the device and turned it back on. Now it seems be to unrooted? I even turned the phone off again and turned it back on holding bixy, volume up and power just like you said.. but still nothing.. version says "N/A" , when I use Titanium Backup, says it cant detect root..

This VolUp+Bixby+Power combination doesn't work for me. :( When I press it shortly it starts a regular system (without Magisk) and if pressed a little longer it goes into recovery mode.
So if you root the device and delete everything there is no way to recover anything from previous partitions? I was looking to root the device so I can revover files that are deep into avast mobiles files because it erased everything

Yes, it works on the s10+ (be careful what files you download). Make sure you follow the exact steps in this guide. In case of problems, warranty is void (in theory) when you root your S10+, no matter which method you use.
PLEASE HELP - when flashing with ODIN ,it gets stuck on system.img ,and wont flash no matter how much time passes. It doesnt fail the flash ,it just remains at that point.

No idea what is going on. It all went fine, I downloaded all the things needed, followed the instructions, but I can't import my AP file from my PC to my phone at all. I don't get any error messages or anything like it, it just stops and then disconnects from my phone. First I thought it could be a problem with the phone or the computer, so I tried with the APK file instead, and I could import that just fine. The hell is going on?
Whenever I try to launch titanium backup it crashes straight away, apparently I have root access, I checked with root check. I tried all tricks, delete data folder for titanium backup, reinstall titanium backup, older versions also and it all crashes straight away. Any solution? Thank you all in advance.

Downloaded magisk and installed, it's shown as zipped file. I copied over to pc and using Odin, it stuck at file analyzing....it won't go any further. Please help.
@Cristian Sicilia I managed to root. Just have to look for magisk from other site. If it is in zipped file, you still can flash using odin. I downloaded magisk from phandroid.com. Search 'how to root S10' or whatever phone you have.
@@erellip This guide says the same thing, that the OEM unlock should be there. That option does not appear at all in my developer options, it is just not there.

So, naturally, I would need root now. Thing is, at least on rootless Substratum, whenever we installed the Substratum overlays, we need to reboot the phone for them to become active. Do you know if this is also true if we have root? Or once I root the phone, Substratum won't require reboots to apply the overlays anymore? Thanks for your help
Hmm, I haven't used Substratum so I'm not really sure. But in any case, if it requires a reboot you simply need to keep the recovery key combo pressed during the reboot and you should be fine.

hello I have a problem with my s 10 I rooted it last week and the day before yesterday no more battery is I was unable to restart it with magisk So I repeat all the steps I re patch the AP file etc ... with odin no worries But once the process has finished the phone restarts in a loop displays the warnings and hop restart suddenly I put it back in download mode and I reflash it ten times I still encounter the same problem however when I put the original AP file back restart normally I am convinced that the error comes from me improper handling at the time of startup but I cannot find the right method for it to restart Would someone be able to help me? thank you in advance ps: I am under android 11

This method is still valid on the 31/03/2020 i just went with the newer firmware my device was on andriod 10 & one ui 2.0 feb update.

Yes, depends how long you hold it, once it restart let it go to get root, or keep holding it till you drop into regular recovery.
My S10+ does not have a setting for turning off the oem unlocking...... not sure why....
09:10 its impossible to enter recovery at this point, its just says "erasing" and turns phone normally. Maybe magisk v24.1 changed something?

I dont know why but the reboot thing doesnt work on my samsung. I always boot into recovery when doing the button combination when releasing..

you have to own the european exynos model, in australia america and canada the process won't work.

I haved finish flashing via odin but I forget uncheck auto reboot.. so
The phone stuck logo.. always into recovery
Is it possible to do this without losing all the data currently on the phone?
I cant find the OEM unlocking
Downloaded magisk and installed, it's shown as zipped file. I copied over to pc and using Odin, it stuck at file analyzing....it won't go any further. Please help.
@Cristian Sicilia I managed to root. Just have to look for magisk from other site. If it is in zipped file, you still can flash using odin. I downloaded magisk from phandroid.com. Search 'how to root S10' or whatever phone you have.

@@erellip This guide says the same thing, that the OEM unlock should be there. That option does not appear at all in my developer options, it is just not there.

I have a question which I'm not sure if you can help me:
- I've got an S10e which I haven't switched to yet because Samsung removed rootless Substratum support. So, naturally, I would need root now.
Thing is, at least on rootless Substratum, whenever we installed the Substratum overlays, we need to reboot the phone for them to become active.
Do you know if this is also true if we have root? Or once I root the phone, Substratum won't require reboots to apply the overlays anymore?

Hmm, I haven't used Substratum so I'm not really sure. But in any case, if it requires a reboot you simply need to keep the recovery key combo pressed during the reboot and you should be fine.
@@MikeTheTechSavvy Thanks for the answer! That's what I feared then. Themes on Substratum update weekly and it's way too much of a fuss to have to constantly be remembering to boot to recovery. :\

i think you have the snapdragon chipset, download cpu z from google play to confirm

Unfortunately all Snapdragon processors have locked bootloaders with the exception of the Chinese variant.

i have pressed power + volume up + bix but nothing display
Force restart it and after the screen goes blank switch to the recovery combo, it will surely go into recovery.
@@MikeTheTechSavvy If Recovery mode just dont pop up. And go to THIS DEVICE BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED... Just download file from SAMFIRM again. first time i tried with Sammobile file.

I have a problem with my s 10
I rooted it last week and the day before yesterday no more battery is I was unable to restart it with magisk
So I repeat all the steps I re patch the AP file etc ...
with odin no worries
But once the process has finished the phone restarts in a loop displays the warnings and hop restart suddenly I put it back in download mode and I reflash it ten times I still encounter the same problem however when I put the original AP file back restart normally
I am convinced that the error comes from me improper handling at the time of startup but I cannot find the right method for it to restart
Would someone be able to help me?
