    Great insight!
I've always been little bit paranoid over these elastic bands in my binders... But I think the bigger problem is the flexible cover that allows the strap to pressure the pages itself.
I almost never close my binders using that strap, but I also only use hard-covered Dragon Shield binders
that have this method of closure. Otherwise my more precious cards go to zip-up albums :)

It could be solved that way too. I think I have a hard cover 4 fold binder. I have to check how it held up.

@@TedsBasementPodcast Have you found out yet by any chance? I'm thinking of getting an Ultra Pro 9-pocket Pro binder, but not sure if the "padded leatherette" cover will be sturdy enough to keep the strap from inflicting long-term damage.

@pricture I have determined that the strap will cause the cover to bend, and this risks damage to the cards. I've moved most of my sets to zippered side loading binders. I have a video on it.

As a lifelong nerd with adhd, I really appreciate the detailed and comparison vids. Any chance on a 3x4 toploader binder and binder pages comparison? Sometimes, no matter how nice the regular binder, you just need that emotional security 😅

The smaller binders have been the same quality in what I've seen. I own a 2x2 binder and it's the same.

I was thinking this while putting together a binder of my yugioh cards.. was thinking of adding a button clip instead of the strap. Will definitely do it now

@GoblinCook absolutely, this strap has proven to be a problem over time.

Why are you showing us pain 😭 Hope the more valuble cards made it.
I use the ultra pro 9-pocket with zipper. Zipper is life, zipper is everything, zipper is god❤

If you just stretch the strap on these after buying this is not a problem in the least.

I suspect that it could retract over time. The best option for me was to leave the strap off while on the shelf and only use the strap when in travel for a short period of time.

I'm gonna sound arrogant, but how do you not notice this is gonna be problem the moment you see the binder? I'm looking into getting my first binder to store some cards, and this binder design is something that is absolute no-no from the moment I saw it on pictures. Zip just seems superior if you need it safely closed.

I purchased these over 10 years ago at my LGS. I don't recall if zippered binders were a thing then. I don't remember seeing a better option. I remember thinking this was a huge advancement because it didn't have rings and pages that fell out like the old school ring binders. Also, the plastic didn't bend right away in the store. It took time on the shelf full of cars to allow the strap to slowly indent into the plastic before I noticed it. I'm all in now on zippered Ringless Binders. The few of these I have left don't use the strap anymore so no future problems can take place.

Did you ever had any problem with bend cards in binders without the strap? So is much paranoia-tall about binders bending cards near the spine.
O-ring binders obviously but i mean the normal binders with build-in pages like zipfolio usw.

Did you ever find the perfect binder ? 😂

Lol, no. Unfortunately, I don't think it exists yet. I do gravitate towards the zippered Ringless Binder styles. But they too have drawbacks like not enough material in the binding, which results is the risk of bending cards over time. It also depends on how many cards you put inside and what type of cards as some are thicker. And other variables. But I use them anyway because I think they are the least of two evils.

they are an interesting design, the way they fold out is attractive, but that strap just warps the binder too much :(

Too late bro, I already bought it before watching this. I do not listen to your rules. You can't control me. Also I didn't actually buy it.
