The part " I'm in love' is the sound , which people feel when falling in love. It is really magic. When I listen to it , I remember this feeling all my body .
west coast is severely underrated, it's one of her best and most original songs, the verses are so easy-going and light and then the chorus just washes over you and it's orgasmic
This is the perfect song to show someone thats never heard a Lana song. My sister never listened to her music because she assumed her music was for "depressed sad girls" but she was proven wrong when I showed her this lol. Some of Lana's stuff can be sensual and sexy too, not just sad

Lana del Rey deserves to be praised. In my opinion, she could handle the heavy burden of carrying our stories as millennials, this broken generation that went through a lot in a world that just won't stop giving us a break. There's no one but Lana who trailblazed a path for younger artists to be brave and presents stories that don't necessarily fit in the box of "standard love". You'll find stories of death, depression, love, atypical relationships, abuse and etc. within the folds of Lana's lyrical contents. Had it not been inspired by what she does, I would have never been able to put out an award winning film out there, inspired by her song "California", talking about how she navigating through Barrie's depression. Lana fans, let me know what you think about it!! ua-cam.com/video/nSC4ptU79-8/v-deo.html

There's something so magical about this song... It makes you just want to fall in love with someone. Not a lot of songs affect me the way this one does. This song takes me into a new world. The guitar, the loose drums, with a little hint of the "Lana" sound and you've got gold. Love this experimental side. People are saying she has no identity because she didn't stick to her usual sound but if we're speaking in terms of identity normal people don't stick to one thing in life. This is great, change is always good.
Its a synth. Like a synthetic string instrument sound. That was made popular in the 90's hip hop era. Listen to snoop dogg's 'doggystyle' album or Dr. Dres 'Chronic 2001' album. A lot of the beats do that
Brian Bailey Actually god is the proper noun format. Really it should be God, capitalized. But still. If she said "she is a god", then you would be right, but she didn't, and the comment was correct
Strangely enough, to me this song has echoes of the Beatles' "And I love her," like reminiscences of the old rhythm and blues. This was a perfect production, every instrument, each individual sound in its own place, amazing.

So Lana Del Rey is far from being mainstream, much less overrated, overhyped and overexposed. Get it right.

I remember when I first discovered this song. I wasn't so into it at first, but then one day I listened to it again and everything hit. It was the most beautiful, luxurious, and sensual feeling ever. My soul still grooves to this song to this day. Thank you Lana for creating something so entrancing, it clears all my worries and hardships away ❤
polly All music sounds like a rip-off of something else. Who is the last person to put out something that was unlike anything ever heard in music history here on planet Earth? That's like impossible. Everything has been done before, recycled. God forbid she has inspirations and idols. Isn't that what artists do? Take inspiration from their muses and make their own art with it? This song is EXTRAORDINARY. Nothing is going to change our minds.
M Hooper 4 and a half million views in two days? People are obsessed with it. Read the reviews. They are absolutely stellar. I'd love to know who your favorite musician is...so I can compare here...current musicians I mean, of the millennials...
Call me crazy, but I really like the loop. Its kind of hypnotic and it really fits the song. I know repetition drives alot of people insane, but this kind of works....lol
Re: Lorde and Lana. I think Lorde, being young, has young ideals of what should and what should not be in society. Lana on the other hand is about getting in touch with ur base emotions, base instincts (desire, materialism, thrill seeking, vices). To me, Lorde's lyrics are like essays or op-eds. Lana's are like poems or sincere diary writings.
There's no possible comparison between Lana Del Rey and Lorde. It's not about the fact that they are two very different artists, it's just that Lana Del Rey is way more talented than Lorde. Lana's vocal skills are more impressive. She's better live even though she's not the best live singer, at least she sounds good, Lorde tries too hard and she's not even able to hit the notes in each of her songs, she sounds off pitched all the time. Lana's music is not repetitive, whereas Lorde's "Pure Heroine" is one long song, with the same annoying techno beat throughout the whole fucking album. Plus Lana doesn't have to be a bitch to anyone to be talked about, i don't even care about any of the artists that Lorde has dissed (the only one that she dissed and made me pissed is Lana) it's just the fact that it's very childish for someone who claims to be so mature. So yes, it might sound simplistic but Lana Del Rey IS *better* than Lorde. #sorrynotsorry
Ivan de Yta Please don't make this about "beauty", and focus on the musical aspect. After all they are both singers, not contenders for a beauty pageant.
It's obvious that Lana is prettier than Lorde, but I'm not talking about their looks. I think Lorde writes more "inspiring" lyrics than Lana, but Lorde's music doesn't attract people as much as Lana's music.
+chocolatechristie what it is in this version the chorus has a less full sound, were all thats heard is the bass the guitar the drums and lanas vocals. in the ultraviolence version they include a synth playing a B minor melody in the chorus, it sounds alot like a rock organ. if you have an instrument play these notes: B,A,E,C#, these are the notes you can hear in the background of ultraviolences version of west coast. i had to tell you cause im to much a superfan.
this version of the video is super cool because it is so symbolic of purgatory. the same life day in day out. the entire ultraviolence album is actually about Lana's metaphysical and philosophical journey thru the afterlife. another reason she is so highly underrated. shes so intellegent and complex as a person and as an artist.
[Verse 1] Down on the West coast, they got a sayin' "If you're not drinkin', then you're not playin'" But you've got the music You've got the music in you, don't you? Down on the West coast, I get this feeling like It all could happen, that's why I'm leaving You for the moment, you for the moment Boy Blue, yeah you [Pre-Chorus] You're falling hard, I push away, I'm feelin' hot to the touch You say you miss me and I wanna say I miss you so much But something keeps me really quiet, I'm alive, I'm a lush Your love, your love, your love [Chorus] I can see my baby swinging His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up On the balcony and I'm singing Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love I can see my sweet boy swaying He's crazy y Cubano como yo, la, la On the balcony and I'm saying Move baby, move baby, I'm in love I'm in love (I'm in love) I'm in love (I'm in love) [Interlude (Background)] Mic-check One, two Two Two Get it, girl [Verse 2] Down on the West coast, they got their icons Their silver starlets, their Queens of Saigons And you've got the music You've got the music in you, don't you? Down on the West coast, they love their movies Their golden gods and Rock n' Roll groupies And you've got the music You've got the music in you, don't you? [Pre-Chorus] You push it hard, I pull away, I'm feeling hotter than fire I guess that no one ever really made me feel that much higher Te deseo, cariño, boy it's you I desire Your love, your love, your love [Chorus] I can see my baby swinging His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up On the balcony and I'm singing Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love I can see my sweet boy swaying He's crazy y Cubano como yo, la, la On the balcony and I'm saying Move baby, move baby, I'm in love [Chorus] I can see my baby swinging His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up On the balcony and I'm singing Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love I can see my sweet boy swaying He's crazy y Cubano como yo, la, la On the balcony and I'm saying Move baby, move baby, I'm in love [Outro] I'm in love I'm in love
was it just me or did everyone else take about two minutes to realize it was the same clip playing over and over. I was so consumed by the song I didn't even notice :o
i remember when this was first released, i misheard the "my love" as "la la" in "como yo my love" and thought that sounded so beautiful even though it was apparently lacking any meaning. i've always considered lana's music to be, at least sometimes, focused more on beauty than unnecessarily deep meanings (despite her profound poetic ability). until realizing what she actually said in that line, i had thought it fit with her theme to add something meaninglessly beautiful just for the sound of it. and i really loved that part because of it
The part that starts "i can see my baby swingin'" is just crazy good

I'm in love with your creativity! when I listen to your songs, wings grow behind my back, and sometimes tears of happiness come. I cry from the beauty of your songs and your voice.
Same 😭
Yes Lana!
great did you guys really know its possible to cheat on luck ? haha I mean really find this video #AndrewBCloverfield and see how its done xD
This just sounds like a rip off of a lot of old songs joined together, Stevie Nicks, Beatles, Neil Diamond nothing new here sounds like a mess
polly All music sounds like a rip-off of something else.
Magnificent as always miss Del Rey
So many 70s undertones this song, it's already a classic. This song makes her a legend.
This song is like magic
+Karys Griffiths a
Lana's music is just like a lucid dream. Can listen to it forever
Have so much passion in this song, I can't stop listening
This is such a vibe
Call me crazy, but I really like the loop. Its kind of hypnotic and it really fits the song. I know repetition drives alot of people insane, but this kind of works....lol
The chorus is just sick
Re: Lorde and Lana. I think Lorde, being young, has young ideals of what should and what should not be in society. Lana on the other hand is about getting in touch with ur base emotions, base instincts (desire, materialism, thrill seeking, vices). To me, Lorde's lyrics are like essays or op-eds. Lana's are like poems or sincere diary writings.
WHO IS LORDE?
Lorde is ugly and lana is beautiful
Ivan de Yta Please don't make this about "beauty", and focus on the musical aspect. After all they are both singers, not contenders for a beauty pageant.
It's obvious that Lana is prettier than Lorde, but I'm not talking about their looks. I think Lorde writes more "inspiring" lyrics than Lana, but Lorde's music doesn't attract people as much as Lana's music.
Can't bored with this song
the chorus makes me soul leave my body
my*
@@hania7407 which part is the chorus

Exactly. It feels like my muscles go limp. My friends don’t get that though 😂
I‘m nearly convulsing on that part
I prefer this version to the Ultraviolence version. It sounds more raw and Lana's voice is more intimate.
are you referring to the radio edit?
And I thought I was the only one...It sounds so much better..
+Gage Warren What's the difference? I can't really tell
+chocolatechristie compare the choruses of this and the album version, the production of these two tracks is different
+chocolatechristie what it is in this version the chorus has a less full sound, were all thats heard is the bass the guitar the drums and lanas vocals. in the ultraviolence version they include a synth playing a B minor melody in the chorus, it sounds alot like a rock organ. if you have an instrument play these notes:
B,A,E,C#, these are the notes you can hear in the background of ultraviolences version of west coast. i had to tell you cause im to much a superfan.
this is beautiful! aw cant wait for the full album!! its the rumors are true, its coming out on my birthday and im so happy!
My favorite song forever.💗
this version of the video is super cool because it is so symbolic of purgatory. the same life day in day out. the entire ultraviolence album is actually about Lana's metaphysical and philosophical journey thru the afterlife. another reason she is so highly underrated. shes so intellegent and complex as a person and as an artist.
[Verse 1]
Down on the West coast, they got a sayin'
"If you're not drinkin', then you're not playin'"
But you've got the music
You've got the music in you, don't you?
Down on the West coast, I get this feeling like
It all could happen, that's why I'm leaving
You for the moment, you for the moment
Boy Blue, yeah you
[Pre-Chorus]
You're falling hard, I push away, I'm feelin' hot to the touch
You say you miss me and I wanna say I miss you so much
But something keeps me really quiet, I'm alive, I'm a lush
Your love, your love, your love
[Chorus]
I can see my baby swinging
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swaying
He's crazy y Cubano como yo, la, la
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in love
I'm in love (I'm in love)
I'm in love (I'm in love)
[Interlude (Background)]
Mic-check
One, two
Two
Two
Get it, girl
[Verse 2]
Down on the West coast, they got their icons
Their silver starlets, their Queens of Saigons
And you've got the music
You've got the music in you, don't you?
Down on the West coast, they love their movies
Their golden gods and Rock n' Roll groupies
And you've got the music
You've got the music in you, don't you?
[Pre-Chorus]
You push it hard, I pull away, I'm feeling hotter than fire
I guess that no one ever really made me feel that much higher
Te deseo, cariño, boy it's you I desire
Your love, your love, your love
[Chorus]
I can see my baby swinging
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swaying
He's crazy y Cubano como yo, la, la
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in love
[Chorus]
I can see my baby swinging
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swaying
He's crazy y Cubano como yo, la, la
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in love
[Outro]
I'm in love
I'm in love
ure the best
🙏❤️🩹
was it just me or did everyone else take about two minutes to realize it was the same clip playing over and over. I was so consumed by the song I didn't even notice :o
Same LOL!
Same with me, totes cringe moment
Thanks Lana! I needed this today.
Wasn't feeling it at first, now I can't stop replaying. ily lana
She completes me, like not even kidding.
This version is my fave, sounds perfect.
This and many other Lana songs deserve billions of views, what a sublime artist!
I could watch her spinning all my life
I didn't even realize the video was looping, I was too entranced by the song.
i remember when this was first released, i misheard the "my love" as "la la" in "como yo my love" and thought that sounded so beautiful even though it was apparently lacking any meaning. i've always considered lana's music to be, at least sometimes, focused more on beauty than unnecessarily deep meanings (despite her profound poetic ability). until realizing what she actually said in that line, i had thought it fit with her theme to add something meaninglessly beautiful just for the sound of it. and i really loved that part because of it
