Oh yes, man I totally agree: I think Julian should spend hours and hours on crafting these beautiful sounds and give it away for free to all the knobheads in this world! I will suggest the same to my solicitor, who charges 300 bucks an hour. Btw: you don‘t have to spend three thousand dollars on a OB6 - you can wait until behringer markets the long announced UB-XA - beautifully handcrafted in China for a fraction of the price of the OB.... and maybe in 30 years we can than all move to China with our kids and grand children because in our own countries there will be nothing left, due to chronic „cheap-ism“ of all the cheapskates.

Fantastic Soundset Julian! What a pleasure it was to hear Lyle Mays' signature sound from his early days with Pat Metheny. Lyle will always be one of my favourite contemporary pianists, solo or with Pat. RIP Lyle.
Lyle was a genius, one of the great keyboardists in the era of the greatest (J Zawinul, H Hancock, C Corea, J Hammer, D Stewart, G Duke, K Minnear, etc). His synth work was very under appreciated as he programmed wonderfully subtle evolving organic textures, instead of big flashy patches. And his piano work was utterly sublime

Thanks so much, I bought this patch bank last week and I'm having a lot of fun with your sounds! I absolutely love my OB-6. I bought it after I sold off my Oberherim Matrix 1000, Oberheim Matrix 6, and Oberheim DPX-1, and it's definitely made up for their departure, yet adds so much more. The only minor issue I have with my OB-6 is that I'm horrible at remembering which numbers I save my patches under, which takes some finesse to arrange before a live performance. I have several other DSI / Sequential synths and I got so used to naming patches after the songs I write.... whereas the song "Roller Girl" will have the patches named according to where they are used in the song, (Roller Girl Pad, Roller Girl Arp, Roller Girl Lead, etc.). So yeah, with the OB-6 I just have to organize them better and write them down. Luckily, for this patch set, I had patches 250 - 299 all ready to go. I highly recommend purchasing this patch bank to other users. Thanks again!
0:53 I feel like I'm watching one of the introspective scenes in the OG Miami Vice series where Sonny is driving his Ferrari late at night alone and thinking about some issue that's haunting him.
[have OB-Xa 6-voice here] This synth sounds of a convergence of 3rd-wave DSI and (some) OB-8. I don't think it compares so well to any of the other OBs; too little modulation to be a Matrix, and not dirty and bombastic enough to be OB-X(a). But a great alternative to dying/limited OB-8s and other new DSI, nonetheless. It certainly has those 'warm mids' and _some_ of those airy highs of older OBs (perhaps YT algo is mangling it here)...but then so does a matix1000 for -under- half the price [EDIT - holy crap these little things have skyrocketed...I got one for $150 in 1997].
Straight up, how would you describe the sound of the OB6 vis-a-viz the OB-8x … ?! 🤔 Is it basically just in line with the Prophet-5/10 > P6 > Rev2 pecking order, in terms of vintage sound and heft?
Hey J3PO, which synth would you recommend as a good first/only synth? I've got loads of great softsynths but wanting to get into the hardware world. I'm considering the Prophet 6, OB-6 or Pro 3, but would be open to any suggestion you have!
Awesome programming, this is the overall best I’ve ever heard an OB6 sound! Your string patch at 1:55 is blowing my mind. Do you think you could get a comparable patch from a Prophet 6? (P6 is what I have)
