Thanks Vin..looks like if I want to fill that gas ram hole in my collection it's going to be a 2nd hand hw90 ..your review kind of reflects my experience of modern BSA which is a shame 👍
Couldn't agree more Vin, aside from the pest control I help a mate out in our local gunshop, every single BSA lightning and supersport we have through is just as much as a pig, if not more than that one. I use a Fenix for barn work, close woods etc and once the triggers adjusted and she's shot in its a beauty of a rifle. All the best from I and the Ferrets.
@@MyGetcarter thanks for the comment my friend. I'm going to see if I can source a BSA Superstar 90s vintage. That was the last BSA I found that could hold its own against HW ..😉👍👍👍👍
Have one of these, lock tight the stock screws and the end screw for moderator as they all work loose, fit a trigger shoe and use barecuda 16 pellet, love mine 😉
Thats exactly what mine shot like straight out of the box, changed the breach seal to a red hw80 one, tightened everything up and it closed up to about 20mm at 30m with AA field 5.53s, I did try 14.66 5.51 accupells and they almost fell into the barrel interestingly, the recoil is very snappy on mine and that did slide the scope back till I put a one piece sports match on Trigger is inexcusable from BSA but it is a gamo trigger
Excellent review. I have several cheeper rifles, QB78 NP02 SMK 600 and I’ve been impressed by there accuracy and minimal adjustment to have a usable predictable trigger. but unfortunately the BSA ultra I owned for a while, then sold. had a disappointing trigger and the only pellet that nearly worked was a Bisley magnum 4.51 10p group at 25y at best ☹️ My old ultra was awesome all 40 shots stacked ish at 35y wish I still had it 👍😊 Now BSA is just disappointing as a brand I’m sad to say, you’d think as a country we’d be able to make a complete spring airgun that worked wouldn’t you. I’ll carry on buying the HW brand for now 😊👍
@@CarlMitchell-oy3ly mate I hear you. I often get asked what guns to get and I nearly always suggest Weihrauch, if not new go find a second hand bargain. 👍👍👍👍
Great review Vin, I found the se very similar wasn’t impressed one bit and I’ve been shooting airguns for many years like yourself and yes BSA standards I believe have definitely slipped from what I remember years ago and if this is the best they can come up with in springers they might as well shut shop.

Great shooting and must agre the bsa are a bit expensive if im not wrong their working together with gamo i just sold two gamo air rifles today because i cant make them shoot right the breach block is even made of plastic witch is not a good design if you ask me
Thanks for this video Vince. I totally agree, an used HW77/97 or a new 99 or even the little HW30 will be a better choice. Do you think it's possible to do a HW30 review? I know you was on your way to buy one but you came home with a good deal HW99 😄 Cheers my friend.
@@vincentenglish8489 I agree Vin, if you type the Patent Number printed on the rail into google your find it is actually a Gamo product called a "Recoil Reduction Rail". Thanks for the review, shame about your findings with the GRT. Plenty more rifles out there, and that will be the problem for manufacturer's that don't deliver, plenty more for shooters to look at.
Ah, what a shame about the trigger. I was thinking of one of these as my first GRT as it looks such a lovely rifle. Might wait until BSA get the trigger sorted out. P.S. What scope were you using ?
I like BSA, but this rifle requires a bolt to replace the pin in the breech , also a New type trigger , then this rifle would fly off the shelfs in my opinion .
Hi vin why not compare all the guns against one you own like hw97k or hw 99s and compare the quality trigger user friendliness price and accuracy Thanks Eric
@@Bruno-lg1zc it'd be really difficult to do that without sounding like a salesman for Weihrauch. The only modern guns I have shot that come close to the HW77/97 are the TX200 which is more pricey, the LGU and LGV which are very difficult to find in the UK. 😉👍👍👍
