OLYMPUS XA

A short overview of the Olympus XA 35mm rangefinder camera. I myself was skeptical about the hype surrounding this film camera until I got my hands on it. unlike a lot of bodies this size that are mainly comprised of cheap plastic, the XA has a mainly metal body that is very solid and gives just enough manual features in a small footprint to make it quite enjoyable and maintain quality results as well.

great video. The XA is definitely one of my all time favorite film cameras and I kinda regret selling mine. The shutter button was the one big downside since it occasionally wouldn't fire when I wanted it to and would fire when I didn't want it to lol

Now that you mention it that dang button does annoy me. It doesn’t really compress or anything. It’s got a very soft release for sure, thanks for reminding me lol. But yes a rad little camera

I love the button. The different way that it functions compared to most other shutter buttons make you more conscious of it. Also, I wind the film then shoot and then don’t wind until I’m ready for my next shot. Traditional it’s shoot then wind.

Love the glass and portability on this camera but my shutter broke. Terrible sensitive shutter

Very sensitive. At least it doesn’t protrude or it would be a disaster. Although I’m pretty sure it doesn’t fire if the clamshell is closed. Annoying but easy solution

I had the XA 2 with the zone focus, great small camera but the shutter button is horrible. Sold that camera faster than I got it. Also good luck finding a flash adapter that works with these series. Wish there was another small compact camera equivalent with a better shutter button.

The shutter button is brutal. Still a rad little can though despite its flaws, but yes I do wish there was a similar alternative
