this is one of those runs I know I'll be rewatching a lot because it has SUCH good commentary. the run is absolutely stunning with such fun tricks but it's often the commentary that gets me coming back to certain runs, knowing it's such a good time to be around for
That why I loved the KH2 runs for multiple years at A(or)SGDQ - @SpikedVegeta and @JHobz296 do an awesome job of commentating and audience interaction and involvement
I love how the devs really seem to have built the levels with speedruns in mind. Nearly every autoscroller is skippable with intentional design, such as the Buzzy Beetles in the lava tunnel, and it makes it a blast both to play casually and to watch speedruns of. Amazing run!
55:27 i got that question as my third one on my first playthrough of the game and i thought they had just added an intentionally unknowable question as the third for a joke... i think its actually pretty hilarious its a time loss in speedruns (a little sad too though)
I've been so excited to check out speedruns of this game, and as I haven't actually gotten around to it yet this will be a WONDERFUL introduction to it
Y'know how they mentioned that _SMBW_ is probably one of the most fan-influenced _Mario_ games? We can see it in the levels they played, but those aren't anywhere _close_ to the only reference to the fan community. Case in point: I forget which level, but the one reference that stuck with me the most was that one level has a setpiece that's structured almost identically to a _Kaizo gate_ , of all things!
Could you please define "Kaizo gate" for the uninitiated? I'd like to understand which level you're referring to, but I've had no luck trying to look up what that term means-it's only ever about the "Kaizo trap" instead.
One of the best games of last year gets a spot at GDQ, I definitely enjoyed playing this one and beating all the levels, but the speedruns look amazing. Wonderful run by JankPickle!
That W-1 skip at 8:15 was so fast and so clean. I watched early speedrun of this game and remember that the runner was going super carefully OOB. Now, JankPickle just ran that like it's not an issue. Very impressive.
You can do it!!! Many of the special world levels are tough, imo the first ones are surprsingly difficult (when compared to the middle couple levels). If you want, you can use the safety bounce badge, Yoshi, or Nabbit to make things a tad easier. No shame in it :)
Phew! The runners get younger and younger! Such a great run and a wonderful couch! Oh... And to answer the question. Nah, not a fan of Jr and that is the one thing I don't like. Just him as boss battles.
1 sec from 3rd place. Absolutely insane run to do live
and jank did some stuff to mess around too, like in the quiz pausing the level to check the star as a joke lost time lol

31:40 for Mr. Game & Shout's Journey cover
The crowd chanting hooray after every wonder seed made my day
Hooray!
Hooray!
Hooray!
and booing when they skipped the singing plants
Hooray!

are they intentionally dressed as the colours of mario, luigi, wario, and waluigi lmao
Kind of yes, kind of no. They DID choose those colours intentionally, but they were trying to be the Teletubbies.

I got that on my first playthrough and managed to successfully guess.

Amazing run, congrats JankPickle! All the commentary as well made this so entertaining!
YIPPEEEEEE!
This was quite the run to watch live, definetly one of the event's highlights

the people in the background of the final bowser fight is so awesome :D
Pickle seemed very nervous but he absolutely crushed this run, gg
“I like those little popcorn enemies too, they pop when they touch a hot block”.

50:06 The correct plural is actually Bowsers Junior...
such a pretty game
They also change your character animation and poses depending on what badges you have equipped.
Only 3 months after it's release and speedrunners are already breaking the game with a out of bounds W1 skip. Mindblown!
the fact that it was a pb too, heck yeah!
insane the amount of donations. i wish i had an extra 10k to donate
the crowd was so fun, amazing commentary, fantastic run, awesome host! we love to see it
Congrats on the pb!!!
This was so fun! Excellent run!
So awesome to watch as I struggle to do the first star road level

You got this!! I believe in you!
@@jarvis5552 It actually feels nice to see a wholesome comment like this. I had to use safety bounce for a few levels, hehe
the skip of World One was crazy
I Loved It! 👍
5 and 6 years early kids is a neat trick
I figured this would be a PB. Jank really locked in on this run and got so lucky.
Congrats on the PB, Jank!
Yo shoutout Jank for the Thornhill reference
i love that all their outfit colors correspond to mario, luigi, wario, and waluigi lol
Yippee!
31:54 if he's singing while reading fast because of that level is that nightcore
Holy crap dude, you're insane
Phew! The runners get younger and younger! Such a great run and a wonderful couch!

I'm not even that young lol I'm 21
gg pickle
Dude you gotta do Piranhas on Parade!!,
I'm very disapointed, this is a marathon, you should have done the piranha plants on parade for the crowd.
Hi timmy
I continue to be baffled by the gameplay footage not being a local recording... like why is it suffering such massive stutters... ?
C'mon man, surely you aren't baffled as to why they wouldn't want to do extensive editing for every UA-cam upload
It's a live broadcast event and you're watching a recording of the live broadcast
