So what to say. I love these two character together, they have so much chemistry. I know that they are not a couple in the show and that she end up with Pope but I feel like the relationship of JJ and Kiara is more build up than with Pope. I mean... the way they care about each other. They are meant to be.

I had a very similar relationship in my life. I even looked like her and the guy looked like JJ, especially dressed like him- style. I think these relationship are not meant to last long. They give you temporal solace and then make you understand that you need therapy. And then you do therapy on your own.

i want them to get together, but not right away. i'm hoping there will not only be a season 2 but at least a season 3 as well, and their relationship will continue to grow and they'll get closer and naturally transition into something romantic, not just like they suddenly get together like some of the other relationships on the show

it was so obvious JJ and Kiara had feelings for each other for the entirety of the show. Their chemistry when they were together was unmatched. I was so confused when she kissed Pope back even though she said she didn’t have feelings for him. I feel like the romantic chemistry between JJ and Kiara wouldn’t be there unless the writers intended it to be. So hopefully they become endgame eventually like we all thought. ❤️❤️

This is such a good edit!! Honestly, it's strange that out of the pogues, he was the only one who didn't have a 'romance' with Kie. I just wish they had more screentime together to be honest. I wouldn't even mind if they ended up staying as friends but in season 2 have them like a sort of comedic duo who are also super protective and caring towards each other but who knows.

You know, I do not understand why they included the scene of Kie asking John B if he told JJ about them kissing and her acting wierd about why she was asking. I thought that meant she liked JJ, and I was here for it, only for her to kiss Pope, I don't get it. Is it that she does like JJ but just feels Pope is the safer option? JJ always puts his friends interests above his own and so when his friend expressed his feelings for her he let it happen. he suppressed his feelings like he always has. and when kie shows those signs of affection to someone else you can tell he is upset abt it. not at her but at himself for being too nice which is the right thing to do, it's his moral compass i guess. do for others first.

I thought I was the only one secretly rooting for them to get together but turns out majority agrees 😂😂 also in an interview Madison (plays Kie) said that she was excited to see what people thought about her and Pope but was surprised to see that the friendship between her and Rudy (plays JJ) off screen resonates on screen. She acknowledged the chemistry they have is very clear and she wasn’t expecting it to turn out the way it did 🤷🏻♀️
Another factor I think is that the actors are also super close outside of the show. So I think that their off screen chemistry also adds to this!

It may sound weird, but on one hand I think it’s cool that Kie and Pope get together as long as his heart doesn’t get broken really bad. What I mean is I’m happy they didn’t end together the first season like John b and Sarah. I’m a sucker for slow burn and they have potential to be one of the best couple on Netflix if the writers does them justice
What makes me mad abt the Pope kiss tho is that when she rejected him, she gave him a very solid, valid reason why. Her and Pope are truly going in two different directions in life. Her answer was a firm rejection, there really wasn't any wiggle room, not for Pope, and not for audience interpretation, and it made sense, even without considering JJ, so why was that kiss written in? If the writers were planning to pursue Pope/Kie as a relationship in season 2, the foundation they laid out is honestly disappointing because it feels so last-minutely thrown-together. Thinking back, I can kind of see where they were trying to go out of their way to hint at Pope x Kiara, but all of it felt super one-sided on Pope's end, was confirmed to be one-sided in episode 9 through the rejection, and then all of a sudden all of that was thrown away by the kiss in episode 10.
Now, if the writers choose not to pursue the relationship route but the more dramatic "Look, we were both in distress, you literally just saved my life, I might have just lost two of the people who matter most to me in this world and was therefore confused and searching for comfort and reassurance of your presence, seeing as you are very important to me, but im sorry, im still not interested" route-- then I would be impressed. In all fairness, Kie hasn't shown a whole lot of interest in any of the Pogues as a partner, and the biggest reason JJ and her stood out to me was the scene in episode 3 where she asks John B about him specifically, and doesn't give a real answer on why she was asking. The scene could've been brushed off as a scene like when Sarah said "and you high-fived JJ after?" while she and John B were talking about how he lost his virginity in episode 7, but specifically because Kie's response after he asks why leaves a lot of room for inquisition really leaves you wondering.
Beyond that, it's made pretty obvious imo that JJ has a thing for her and considering his character archetype-- the kind of guy who doesn't seem like he'd pursue a real relationship anytime soon, I genuinely think he could only have a healthy romantic relationship with someone he trusts deeply and has known for a long time, and there really aren't any other candidates outside of Kie. As of right now, I cannot see JJ with anyone outside of Kie. Not any of the current cast, and definitely not any new characters who he would have to take a long time to adjust to, get to know and trust. JJPope shippers may want to argue with me, that's fine, you are just as valid in your ships as I am in mine and I'm not here to start a fight, but JJ gives such straight boy vibes that I can't see it. Sorry.
To top it all off, I just want good things for JJ. He deserves it, and he's the only one I can see Kie with too outside of maybe Sarah if Sarah and John B weren't a thing. They do have a lot of chemistry and honestly I could just be biased because I have a bad habit of shipping characters I'm attracted to, but I feel like there's a ton of very little moments between Kie and JJ, especially if you're paying enough attention to the scenes where they aren't even necessarily interacting with one another.
The way the camera pans to JJ being blatantly upset and uncomfortable whenever Kie has a scene remotely romantic with another character. The possibilities behind JJ "knowing that door is closed because he's tried it". Kie is upset in episode 2-- he knows right away John B did something. Episode 3, that little smile right when he finds out John B got shot down, and Kie asking about him without a real reason why. The old married couple vibes radiating off of episode 4 at the movie. Him losing his shit when Rafe talked about Kie and Kie running right into his arms to be twirled around in episode 5. Him kind of in the background of episode 6 saying "hey no" when John B hits Kie back, and the way "It's a no brainer-- you're picking Kie, we need Kie" made me literally melt. The hug scene in episode 7, him sending Pope to the bow in episode 8 and being kind of put off when Pope brings up Kie's past mistakes, I can't remember anything from ep 9 rn ngl, ep 10 the way he tries to reassure her after Pope (who I love btw this is not a pope hate post i just think he's going to find love in college, not the OBX) is being an ass abt getting rejected even though he confessed during the most stressful and inconvenient time he possibly could, and JJ's face when they kiss-- like literally there's more than just this, but i can name all of this off the top of my head after 2 days of watching through the series twice and watching through youtube's entire archive of reaction videos for obx.
Yall need to stop playing with me, Jiara needs to happen, it just makes sense. I heard that they were meant to be the only truly platonic pair of the Pogues when it came to Kiara which is a damn shame because Kiara had little to no romantic chemistry with John B and Pope. Kissing male friends on the cheek is a little weird and kind of mixed signals but John B's circumstances were so shitty that honestly could just be interpreted as Kie putting in a little extra love for the friend she failed to support when he lost his dad.

The Pope/Kie kiss was a pit kiss. It needed to said. Now that that’s out of the way...
JJ and Kie cannot be together in s2, before u all attack me, lemme explain. It would be like Kie was homie hopping if she went from John B, to Pope, and then to JJ in such a short amount of time. It’s too overwhelming and it ruins her character. Secondly, Pope and Kie r most likely going to date in s2, it would also ruin her character if she cheats on Pope.
The writers did confirm that they want 4/5 seasons total for obx. If so, JJ and Kie HAVE to be endgame. Idc how it happens but JJ and Kie r the type of ship that has to be a slowburn ship that leads up to being endgame or else it will ruin them as characters or the ship as a whole.

i love pope, everyone does, but i just don’t think he’s a right fit for kie, and backs he forth. pope doesn’t have a sense of humor fit with kie, and he was always too shy to show that he truly liked her. jj is broken and when he had his moments kie was always the one to be there. kie is hurt as well having to choose between her parents as well sometimes and what’s wrong. they both need each other. they are obviously fit for eachother. but i think it needs to be eased into slowly, not automatically. just bc pope and kie kissed doesn’t make them dating so maybe if kie and jj spend more time and have more scenes, people will realize how compatible these two people are. anyways sorry for ranting. and some of it might not make sense, thanks for listening!

The fact that she knows that his dad is abusing him and when they go to his house and she says “you want me to come because I’ll come” and every time she kissed or talked about someone else JJ always looked sad and disappointed and the part where she runs in his arms or jumps in the hot tub for him fully clothed says it all🥰

I think Kie needs to take a small break from romantic relationships in the next season. I feel as though they should slowly introduce the idea of her and JJ actually being together. It is obvious that JJ has a thing for her, but they never addressed it. I want the show to put a hold on their relationship until a certain point where they have some deep and meaningful conversation that lasts a while and then their relationship progresses from then on. Endgame ships won't usually rush into things, especially when they have had previous partners.
All I’m gonna say is they are meant for each other and they understand each other their and they have the closest friendship real life and the show like the chemistry they have and how much he protects her and how much she cares for him I LOVE THEM

I think it’s pretty funny that probably the writers didn’t intended this ship to happen. During the scene’s she’s or like into John B or into Pope, but not into JJ... but still everyone is shipping them (including me🥰). Even in interviews they tried the Pope/Kiara ship work but nobody is into that ahahah
I honestly didn't like how she ended hope with Pope, I would prefer her with JJ or maybe even none of them.
