You play absolutely fantastically, I used to have a very similar tone back when I was 20, but man, with no mids you don't cut through. Your tone is good for when you play alone, with other instruments it sounds like the bass is off, you only hear the clanck. Add some mids and a bit of distortion and will get better.

I give you a secret, you can use any bass for metal, doesn't have to be an ESP. You can even use an acoustic bass. Active, passive, it doesn't matter. Once in the mix it's not about the bass but about how you mix it.
