By the way, the reason there are so many weird features, like time limits and countdowns, is that this was also released as an arcade game. It used Sega NAOMI boards, which used most of the same hardware as the Dreamcast.
Get that in AAW so the arcade cabinet can give you the rear view.

Actually, at times, for a brief moment, there's 9 people in the ring at once. I think this is the only wrestling game ever (at least on a home video game console) that exceeds the 8 wrestler limit.
MDickie games allows for double digits of wrestlers.
@@Rayuzx Those games were on PC for the most part until MDickie's Wrestling Empire was released on Nintendo Switch. Of course the MDickie games allows double digits of wrestlers in the ring at one time.
I'm talking about how IN 2000 when the technology wasn't as advanced as it was nowadays, somehow managed to put 9 people in the ring at once, something unheard of at the time, and this was 1 year before Just Bring It was released in 2001 which had the maximum limit of 8 wrestlers.

I think you can force 10 guys in the ring. So 4 players, 4 partners and 2 guys interfering.
Unless you count a Guest Referee in Legends of Wrestling 2, where you can have an 8-Man tag and control the ref.

The reason this game looks better than Smackdown 1 was because The Sega Dreamcast was basically just as powerful as a PS2 during a time when the PS1 and N64 were still running strong. Obviously, this backfired for Sega since developers opted to stick with the more popular systems since they were easier to work with
I wish The graphics looks like what Smackdown one and two should've been
Dreamcast was a newer gen system. 128-bit vs 64 or 32.
I miss when wrestling games were as chaotic as this.

It was a arcade game first. My local arcade at the mall had this game for 2 years. If you think of it like a evolved version of wrestlefest, you'll have a good time.
When the Dreamcast came out I bought this game when it was new. It hasn't been ported to anything else.

I remember playing this arcade game when I was younger. I specifically remember being able to have 9 in the ring. I wanted the console version but never thought it actually existed. Pretty cool you guys are playing it.
this video unlocked a memory of playing this game inside a gameworks arcade as a kid. It was just after discovering wrestling and seeing this game and spending the entire time playing it and nothing else. My cousins were all there playing different games while i was glued to this one. Then my dad came up to me and told me my cousin got his game card stolen and asked me if i saw it and then me telling him, nah i was here the whole time. Then going back to playing it
This was amazing and put me in a great mood. What a lost gem of a game

I use to be so stuck to the hip of this game so much when I went to Walmart with my parents as a kid. They had the arcade version in front of the store and then I got the Dreamcast version for Christmas later and…it was ass only two modes ... It felt like a scaled down version of Smackdown and not really the same as the arcade version. But thank you guys for bringing back some good memories 👍🏿

If I want a good laugh I'll repeat that "*Stone Cold*" voice impersonation it was spot on.
I know this game isn't "great" but I've always had a soft spot for it. The arcade style play and the time period of the roster it captures is just perfect for me. Really, the biggest criticism was the roster size, but prior to the rise of the AKI games, this would have been more or less an acceptable size. We got spoiled very, very quickly.

You should do WWF Attitude for N64 or PS1. It has a stable match, fun cheats, verbal grunts and taunts for each wrestler, commentary by Jerry Lawler and Shane McMahon. Think it would be hilarious

Are you guys using a .cdi or .gdi image?
A .cdi game has stuff missing videos or extra stuff that could cause the game to crash if emulation isn't up to par.
A .gdi is a one to one copy of the whole game with nothing missing or taken out. It's good practice to use a .gdi image of a Dreamcast games whenever possible.
The .cdi was back in the days when it was more feasible to download Dreamcast games specifically to fit onto a blank CD.
