Preparations for Benedict XVI's coffin

After three days of tributes to Benedict XVI, on the night of January 5th his body was placed inside three coffins, as per tradition, for the celebration of the Holy Funeral Mass the following day.
The rite was performed before the Altar of the Confession of Saint Peter and was presided over by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Parolin, in the presence of several witnesses, such as other Cardinals, Bishops, Monsignors, Canons and lay faithful, among them was also Msgr. Diego Ravelli, Master of Pontifical Celebrations, and Msgr. Georg Gänswein, personal secretary of the Pope Emeritus, who signed the minutes as witnesses.
