It was cute, it’s a rom-com. Let’s not dig too deeply on this one folks.
Exactly.
For real I thought the movie was hilarious
Let them go a whole movie calling the main character “black boy” the entire way through and we’ll see what happens then 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes! Love the awkward comedy
I think it actually portrays the open racism towards white americans and how its become widely accepted to do so. We're never going to move on from this issue unless everyone stops obsessing over skin color.
We've been ingesting tragedies and dark themes for entertainment for so long I think people forgot how Romcoms work.
Exactly! It's not that deep
RIGHT!
He's not as the late Jeffrey Dahmer, that's the problem **Heavy Eye Roll*" 😒 And this type of unmerited criticism is what also made Coming 2 America Pt. 2 not even close to being funny as the original because you can tell the producers did all they could to make sure NO ONE was offended. Let's laugh at ourselves sometimes. It truly isn't that deep!!!
Yeah. Including the people who make them
YES 👍
It’s a very real rom-com. Blending two cultures is never easy. And as sometimes the worst opposition are your parents.
I watched this movie last week, and I liked it very much. It does show that we need to be more understanding of people with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Plus, all the actors in this movie were great!
Ok but it’s also perpetuating the stereotype of people calling each other “ you people” nothing really funny about that. It’s called segregation
@@guitartist7416 did you even watch it? Damn man, everyone is so whiny.
This movie is trash. I have a bi-racial black/white Muslim/Christian family and this failed to actually be funny, have jokes that didn't rely on cringe factor or white people like mayonnaise humor and failed to address real romantic relationship between people of different cultures. There was 0 chemistry between Jonah hill and Lauryn London.
@@okaydude2863 The movie sucked, I couldn’t figure out if it was a rom-com or a lecture on social issues. The characters suck, the writing sucks, it’s not funny and it sucks.
I don't get the criticism of saying Kenya Barris is "obsessed" with his own mixed race heritage.... if he's mixed race, that's what his life has been and not somethinghe can walk away from... how is that an obsession???
We had the same thoughts. It's very bizarre how people can say he's obsessed with his own upbringing! 🤣😩🤣
Some people hate that word mixed race for some reason. It’s like you have to pick a side
Kenya Barris is not “mixed” race. He’s Black with two Black parents. His fascination IS with mixed-race/biracial people like his soon to be ex-wife.
His own upbringing did not include two parents from different races, this was his wife’s background. Hence, the obsession. 🙄
So his experience is his obsession?! That makes no sense. If that’s the case every artist who sings/writes about love, heartache, guns, drugs, sex and violence more than once in their art are obsessed despite it being part of their personal experience. Not to mention something many people are or have gone through.
The world is becoming more and more of a melting pot every day.
The film highlighted things that do happen and can happen not only in romantic relationships but in work and friendships where there are two different cultures coming together and unless we’re talking it out and confronting things we’re not going to a resolution space.
It’s REAL LIFE!!! Let it ride; if you’re not interested, don’t tune in - simple….
Some people don't get it unless they been in a interracial relationship or been with someone with different religious views.
It's definitely not real life. Its Movie. It's entertainment. People take stuff too seriously
Stop trying to shut down people who have a take different than yours just so you can spew your blind praise towards a shitty movie. The movie is not real life, it is cheesy and trite, and only the lowest common denominator of a human would enjoy it.
I loved this movie! People will always find fault with anything nowadays. My oldest daughter and I watched it together and we laughed as well as had our uncomfortable moments. I will definitely watch it again!!!!
Exactly! 'People will always find fault with anything nowadays'
I really didn't like the Director being attacked about his own mixed race identity.
How incredibly rude!
I was really excited for it but it felt badly written. The cast was fantastic, the idea was good, but it felt like the execution was just not good
When people make movies that don't reflect their culture, they're appropriating. When somebody makes a movie about their life and what they know, it's a weird obsession. Which one is it? As a black woman, I'm all about progress, but it seems like folks just want to be mad to be mad. And Jonah looking kinda fine too all tatted up so I'll be watching 😭
I lost it when nia long said "get my slave receipts out of my purse."🤣 Hilarious movie, both families were crazy.
That was one of the funniest lines for me
What’s funny about it? Slavery? 💀💀
Lol 😂
YES!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
For a second there I thought she was serious😅😂
It's a comedy! It's supposed to trigger cringe and laughter.
But it's not funny. And it's a such over treated lame subject🙄🤨
@@Tyda777 Agreed 👍
somebody who is actually biracial black/Hawaiian/Spanish, French and German I really felt it because mixing cultures is very uncomfortable but also hilarious! And I'm glad to see Lauren London's smile again. She's had a tough time this couple years.
You would be multi racial.
“Black” is not a culture or a nationality. I’m assuming you are black American?
All the best for Lauren London. Jude: 2
Seanna Diaz Am full blown black !! Sister live your life as you and whomever has objections about you SISTER consider the source an its their problem and never let it be your problem .. You'll never get the acceptance you want if you seek it out !! Be who you are and that should always be good enough for everyone with no exception to that rule !!
What happened to Lauren London if I may ask?
My husband and I loved this movie . He is Romanian born and was adopted into a German family and I’m a Jamaican West Indian. We have three children earth side and we watched blackish with our oldest who loves it because he can relate to most of the content in the show . My husband and I laughed so much during this movie because we could relate so much to it lol. I appreciate someone adding humor to a topic than can be uncomfortable for many.
Shame
Of course your with a white guy lol 😂
Bless up yuhself, live yuh life 🇯🇲❤️
Sooo what about the movie “Guess Who” people are just to soft now within the decade it’s weird ..
Absolutely
Exactly!! That's the first movie I thought of too😭
I thought this movie looked familiar
Thank u lol
Just watched the movie. Loved it. It forces us to have uncomfortable conversations about race, culture, religion, and stereotypes. At the end of the day, we all want to be seen as an individual person and not just our race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or culture. Just a human being who may love someone different from what society and family expects.
I didn't really care for the movie, but Lauren London and Jonah Hill made a duo that I never thought would come across as cute as they did
I loved this movie. Eddie and Julia were hilarious, and Jonah and London had mad chemistry. And I don't seem to remember any negative criticism about" Crazy Rich Asians" nor " My Big Fat Greek Wedding " IMO there are those that want to be negative just to be noticed.
I remember criticism for Crazy Rich Asians. Not everyone enjoys everything, it's always gonna happen.
I liked it, I think it was a good movie it was funny and it was relatable for me in many of the moments. You cannot please everyone.
Don't need to
Laughed so hard with my husband- we are a mixed couple but luckily our parents were far more tolerant of each other’s culture. People need to lighten up - no controversy needed.
I loved and saw ‘You People’ for what it was. Nothing more. It was well done and current. I didn’t want it to end. I also was introduced to Lauren London. Whoa! Jonah was Jonah of course. And two legends playing opposite sides of the fence - Eddie Murphy and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Are you kidding me? Lastly, that soundtrack bringing in the vibes. I need a part 2.
Agreed 💯💯
It was the cinematography for me. It was like a love letter to L.A. OMG ♥
Would be nice to have a series of this.
@@A22DNAL actually I felt that, but didn’t connect that until you mentioned it. 💯
@@sergioj.rodriguez1190 this coming from a person who visits LA often, LOVES it there and California in general, from opening sequence all I can see is Cali vibes all over that movie! Loved. It. ☀️☺️
The people have spoken with the high debut on Netflix and I LOVED it
This romcom was so spot on that I actually cried because I could relate to it so deeply.
Love this movie. Stop finding the negative in everything
Stop trying to shut down conversations that don't align with your opinion. Hated this movie.
This movie was cringe af
@@hamilt55467 I stopped watching Netflix unless it was an interesting documentary...but why was it cringe? I do agree everyone is so ready to get offended at everything
It was worth watching. I wouldn't have cast Duchovny and Murphy in it. But I thought it was well written for what it was.
No way people actually thought this movie was good? You have to be a bot. No way
Mannn, this movie is good. 👍👍 The culture clash depicted in it is another aspect of what some people face in reality. Yes, it will make some people uncomfortable but real progress occurs when you're comfortable being uncomfortable.
I watched it and thought it was very appropriate for or clashing cultures. Loved it
This movie was real and everything. It’s good to see love can still win and these types of movies can provide real life love stories
I also liked the way interacted with one another... The on screen chemistry was there, and she seems naturally happy, and i think that's good for her❤️ i will give this movie a thumbs up and will tell others about it. Love is Love
This movie is great. Folks are constantly on defense these days. It was funny, uncomfortable and well done. It may not be for everyone and that’s ok. Watch something else.
I loved this movie 🎬 ❤️ There's so much darkness going on nowadays. It's good to laugh 😂 People need to lighten up!!
I liked the movie, loved the cast. It was what it was supposed to be, and that's that on that...
Hi Williams, how are you doing?
I'm Tyler Thomas from Fremont CA, can I talk to you?
The cast was excellent
I'm glad it did, it needs to be addressed
I watched it and I love the message that it gave. Plus it's a comedy/romance movie. I think they all did a awesome job. Yes it has several jokes but it suppose to. It's a comedy. People are putting too much into it. It's not that serious.
I understand the criticism. The movie acted like it’s not 2023. Different “cultures” are not nearly as pronounced as exaggerated in this film…
i agree. They acted like inter 'racial' relationships don't exist, when they are everywhere! Practically everyone I know is in an interracial or multi ethnic relationship or marriage. It's so so so common. I'm in one myself. It's not that deep.
Yet we still have racist who worry that their grandchildren will be too dark. Continue to fool yourself.
@@TheLovezoey I never said that racists do t exist. Your point wasn’t even mentioned In the movie. Gtfoh.
@Panda Power that's just it though, it wasn't just about an interracial couple, but an interreligious couple as well, which brings a whole nother level, especially when it's Jew's and Muslim's, who's countries of origin have been at war with one another for centuries. First time it's really been done like this as a comedy. And comedy brings about dialogue, which is healthy and progressive.
@@hahna77 they are born again muslims though, like they dont come from those countries, and neither did Louis Farrakhan who is super anti semitic. but thats true though, but i am in an interreligious marriage too, its still extreeeeemely common and not that big of a deal 99% of the time in liberal countries like the US
People are on cultural approaching everything so hard to the point that no races can interact with another and learn from each other and celebrate eachother, and love each other..
I'm an 80s baby , I'm Native American and Spanish mix and there comes a point when you just have to tell people to shut up with all the criticism. All that criticism does is divide rather then build...
I loved this movie! As someone who was in an interacial relationship I drew a lot of similarities and really appreciated this movie.
This movie is great and displays the hardships that is associated with the integration of two cultures , race ,values .As a mixed woman of - African ,Indian ,Chinese I can relate my parents faced somewhat of the same challenges
I think the movie did a good job of portraying why the couple fell in love. They understood each other and weren’t looking for a partner who checked boxes off. Jonah’s character was living his life in finance to probably please his family and be a viable “catch” for a wife but his passion was podcasting. Lauren London accepted him despite everyone dissuading him from following his dream.
Loved it! Wish it was a series
Much needed film especially when this time where living in one trail mix of a world and was great to finally have a movie can relate towards especially with mixed race being the subject. I loved the movie so much that watched it numerous of times good job to all actors and the director for the refreshing narrative it brought to the screen.
Continue the greatness.
Loved it ❤
I swear people just want to be offended n oppressed these days... it's a damn movie seriously you saw the title and trailer of this movie and thought race and culture weren't gonna be brought up? Common sense doesn't seem to be as common these days
Loved this movie. Eddie Murphy was so good.
Being mixed with all sorts of flavors.. This movie was amazing! So real and powerful :)
Loved it. Joked and touched on a lot of uncomfortable conversations and things we will just have to live with and be okay with others having their own culture.
We have a birracial home, and it's one of the funniest things about us, the culture shock is very real, but even my kid's friends joke about it now, when I talk to her in spanish they all go: uuuuuu she's in trouble! 😂😂😂
Lauren London's name is Amira in the film, not Amina. I may be missing something but in the U.S. version she says her name is Amira. I googled it just to be sure, googgle has Amira as her name.
You’re correct; I noticed the same thing. London’s character is AMIRA.
@@karenharlin7974 that's ironic because she had to pronounce it for people in the film also 🤣 but this video was just annoying me because it's AMIRA
I was looking for this comment. GMA could of confirmed the characters name with a simple google search. Tacky on their part 😒
I clicked on the video but did not watch it. I just came straight to the comments and I have to say...I love yall!! Yes, this was a fantastic movie. It told the truth and made you laugh. I am not even a romantic comedy watcher but I so enjoyed this! :)
Me and my girl friend love this movie!! It's so beautiful and very real conversation. Keep it coming.
The movie was OK. As a Black woman myself, I just feel like Amira was too hard on Ezra’s mom. Ezra’s mom was cringey, but she was genuinely TRYING to LEARN the culture. Was she trying too hard, yes, but there was good intentions behind it and I feel the writers missed an opportunity on educating the audience on how to properly go about inquiring and celebrating cultural differences.
I agree. It seems like Ezra's Mom didn't get a moment to absorb her behavior and how it came across the same way Amira's Dad did with his "come back to Earth" talk with his brother. A missed opportunity indeed. It almost seemed like a disservice to JLD's acting talents.
Can't wait to watch it.
_I absolutely love that the video tackles uncomfortable awkward racial microaggressions that I and so many people i know, have dealt with for years. This is a very fun series, for sure, with a stellar performing all star cast, to boot._
Gosh! This movie was absolutely hysterical. Please do not look into it too deeply.
I love both of the actors individually and together
LOVED IT!!!!
Loved this flick.
I don't think many people saw it, but I loved 2 Days in New York. It rang so close to home as someone with French in-laws, but I think anyone with a multi-cultural relationship will enjoy it. And I never thought Chris Rock would be so good in a romcom lead.
Her character's name is 'Amira', not 'Amina'
I can't wait to watch it!
We are all human BEINGS. Lets focus on the similarities and appreciate the differences
Imagine how strong we would be if we just worked together?!
I loved this movie. Thought it was how white ppl portray themselves around black ppl. And I'm half white half black.
Enjoyed it!
You people....... I think you people, r great, number 1 on Netflix, not bad not bad at all, from what I've seen. Eddie Murphy nai long how could you beat that?🏈
It's such a brilliant film, I'll watch again.
Best Comedy I’ve seen in a while, actually refreshing……
People always got something to complain about.
Anyways it was a fantastic movie
Fantastic...your bar is low
❤️🔥👌🏽I need to see it 😩
I watched it with my husband and we loved it!! It was funny and cute 😊
I loved it 🥰
Me too ❤It made me tear up the first time I watched it. ❤
@@MizoletteTV I watched 3times
And here we go……
Loved it!
People always forget not everything is for them and tailored to their particular experiences.
Lauren London’s character name was Amira not Aminah.
I'm literally watching the movie right now. I'm enjoying it. That's what movies are for...the enjoyment.🙄
It’s a comedy! Ppl need to stop all this madness! I rly enjoyed it and if everyone would get their heads out of their asses they’d enjoy it as well. Life’s too short for all this bs hate going around! Love and be loved and spread kindness! Stop attaching negativity and hate to every single thing that happens! I get there is def things worth fighting for in this world but spewing negativity and hate over a comedy isn’t one of them! ✌️
For a romantic movie, their was a deep lack of chemistry among the lead actors 😔
It’s just a movie damn.
We need to start making a distinction between real controversies, and the well known, and easily anticipated social media hissy-fits that inevitably follow any projects having to do with culture war issues...
It’s a good movie, and majority of us are living this today, but hey we make it work, keep love strong ❤️
The main actrice's name in the séries is Amira or Amina ???
Being from LA where the movie rakws place, the movie is accurate. Communities are very segregated and many people who are Jewish live in West LA or the Valley. This couple in the movie, met by happenstance, extremely possible. And they bonded over their similarities. It was cute.
I love Eddy Murphy lol man hilarious
GREAT Movie laughed so hard, wonderful cast. 🎉🎉
This movie rang so true to some of the issues that mixed couple face. My husband is Guyanese and I'm Italian..and white. I found this movie hilarious and completely on point.
This looks cute and realistic! I’m mixed Asian & White, which no one even blinks an eye about, but Black & White still ruffles feathers.
The reporter called Lauren londons character Amina…when it’s Amira… smh
I loved it. Made fun of uncomfortable discussions
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Eddie Murphy did so good at stereotyping the parent roles. It was too funny. Also when Lauren goes over to the house to meet his parents💀
again, it's number one for a reason on Netflix. OK Netflix is top-tier streaming stop analyzing the movie and just respect for what it is and understand that there are millions of mixed race people around this world who don't feel seen your either not black enough or your other race enough!
I thought it was funny. David singing John Legend was hilarious.
I loved it 😍
I like a mixture of cultures!
It’s easy to see how miserable so many people are anymore, because it just seems like a group of people are always going to be outraged over something.
Of course it does!
Good afternoon everyone
Why?
They approached a real and sensitive topic in interracial relationships. I think it was executed with respect and understanding of the uncomfortably that all parties involved are faced with. Not only did I respect it but I enjoyed it despite the "lack" of chemistry between the two.
I'm neither black or Jewish but there were moments it was awkward to watch...cringy even. At the end of the day it's a Rom Com and not a documentary or reality show. Like hate it it's all in the eye of the beholder lol
found the movie boring as hell, the entire thing was a dialogue solely using four letter words and trying to hard for shock value
I believe Eddie Murphy himself is engaged to a white woman in real life so it’s interesting to see him play this part in a multi layered “life meets art” kind of way.
I loved starting 2025 with this movie…. 2023=love all
Oh no controversy!
