There is some discrimination because we don't know each other and for personal and social development we need social ties, the language is another distance factor.

Those were Senegalese and did not understand you. They speak Wolof and French and have some knowledge of Spanish, but almost nothing of English.
Argentine blacks are only 1% of population and most are very mixed, usually having a big amount of white ancestry or amerindian in some cases. Then generally they have pretty ambiguous phenotypes.
Some black Argentines of whom you can find their photos on internet (and that are live) are Fidel Nadal (musician), La Mona Jiménez (musician), Pablo Molina (musician), Clemente Rodríguez (footballer) or Héctor Baley (former footballer).

Those people were immigrants from Senegal mostly, they dont usually have papers/visa problems because its really easy to get into the country, but they face many problems because they work on the streets selling clothes and thats not very legal if you dont have permission from the local autorithies, that may be the reason for them to be camera shy. They face racism as they would face in every other country, but the bad part for them (and people from Venezuela too) is that we're facing a huge economical crisis so they cant send much money for their families because 1 arg peso is worth like 0,005 dolars so they're stuck into the country until they can save money to go some other place with a better economic situation. Most of them speak french, wolof or diffent dialects from their countries maybe thats why most of them didnt understand english.
To this day there are afro-argentinian communities, mostly in Buenos Aires: San Telmo, Montserrat, Flores, Dock Sud, Avellaneda and theres a Cape Verdean community in Berisso/Ensenada.

The African population used to be more than 50 percent of the Argentine population, and there used to be more black people in Argentina than in Brazil, Argentina committed mass genocide against its African population, and I personally would never set foot in Argentina.
Argentina from 1868 to 1874, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, undertook a genocide' that wiped out the Afro-Argentinean population to the point that by 1875, there were so few Black people left in Argentina that the government didn't even bother registering African descendants in the national census.
Tellingly, Sarmiento wrote in his diary in 1848: What is [to be] done with such blacks, hated by the white race? Slavery is a parasite that the vegetation of English colonization has left attached to the leafy tree of freedom,” - International Business Times.
imagine they killed half their population. the land of Argentina was fertilized with the blood and bones of Argentina's former African enslaved population.
the food that grows in Argentina, and the grass that grows, for which the cattle graze on, was fertilized by the blood and bones of, its former African enslaved population,
that unique taste that you taste, when you eat food grown and grazed in Argentina, is the blood and bones of your former enslaved people.
African slaves built Argentina, and then the former slave owners paid back the slaves for the great works, toil, and effort, with mass genocide,
the most complete and comprehensive genocide in human history.
most of the present black and African population in Argentina are recent elite African and black immigrants, who did not arrive in Argentina until after 1980 and are not descendants of Argentina's African enslaved population. Argentina has gone a long way in whitewashing the genocide of its former African enslaved population, by allowing marginal mostly elite African immigrants, who themselves are somewhat anti-African, and tend to be very invested in absolving the European Argentine population of its genocide past, one of histories most comprehensive genocides committed against Argentinas descendants of Argentinas African population descendant of the trans-Atlantic slave system

By the late 1700 argentina didnt exist, if the source is a census of the viceroyalty then that black population could be from many countries like argentina, uruguay, paraguay, bolivia or chile. There are many reasons to explain why the black population of buenos aires decreased but geno-cide isnt one of them. You can read the book written by George R. Andrews "afroargentinos de buenos aires" or any of the papers avaiable on the CONICET repository
Currently the population isnt 97% european, it never was you can google the 2022 census data and you can read a recent genetic study of the population made by scientifics at the Instituto Multidisciplinario de Biología Celular (IMBICE, CONICET-UNLP-CICPBA) published in Plos one.
Sorry but if the source you're using couln't differenciate the viceroyalty of the republic and didnt get the real percentage of white population then its pretty unreliable.

Argentina never had a literal genocide against african descendants, that's an internet psyop/fake new. What happened was a process of white-washing the population because the politics at the time wanted to show the country as "civilized" and acording to the ideas of the time whiteness was tied to it.
For some decades they lied on the census targeting indigenous and black people as "trigueño" that was an umbrella concept for mixed/brown people and worked as an inversed "one drop rule" because if someone had a white ancestor was considered white.
The other reason for the lighter fenotype of the population was the massive european inmmigration that lasted from aprox 1880s to 1960. The new immigrants came in millions to an underpopulared country and surpased the criollo/mixed/afro natives and because there was never segregation the population started to mix socially and culturally, that can be seen in music, food, festivities, etc.
To this day there is still a small percentage of afroargentinians that descends from the colonial slaves, and from the different waves of african inmigration that came in the XX century from Cape Verde, Nigeria and recently Senegal, in the 2022 census around 300.000 people were self-identified as afrodescendants but there's many of people with african ancestors that doesnt recognize as such because they're fenotipically white.
There's a genetic study that concluded:
"European ancestry in modern Argentinean populations is mostly explained by Southern European origins, although we identified several individuals with Northern European ancestry. African ancestry in Argentina traces its origins from three main components. Although the Bantu-influenced and Western components are clearly the most represented, we also found that an Eastern origin explains some of the African ancestry in Argentina and represents up to ~30% of the African ancestry for some Argentinean individuals."
      Source: journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0233808#sec012
When you spread fake news about the "genocide" you're not being an internet activist you're literally going against the visibilization of the afroargentine community that has been trying to get recognition for decades.
If someone has any curiousity about the topic, George Reid Andrews wrote a few books about the topic of Latin America and its african history, i''ll link one of them (in spanish):

Probably you believe all that ¢®ap about a supposed black gen0¢¡de that actually never happened. Ra¢¡al mixing (with whites and amerindians) during 18th and 19th centuries was the main reason for the "disappearance" of black people (independence from Spain was in 1816, so even in the colonial period that mixing was happening, like in all Spanish colonies).
If you don't believe me read to Erika Denise Edwards, a black American historian woman that study the history of black people in Argentina since 20 years and recently published a book about it. Also there are several articles from her on internet and interviews to her (for example in UA-cam).
In fact all historians that studied this topic in the last decades agree that the supposed gen0¢¡de it's a myth, but I told you about her because she is black, therefore you can't complain about a supposed ®a¢¡$t lie, ¢0n$p¡racy or something like that.
And all this doesn't mean that there weren't a lot of black soldiers during those times or that there wasn't much black people d€@d due to some epidemics, but thinking that most black people d¡€d for those reasons it's ridiculous.
And also this doesn't mean that there wasn't $lav€®y, ®a©¡$m (still today at some point) or some segregation, but in Spanish colonies the things were pretty different than in British or French colonies, that's why you see that average Dominicans for example are predominantly black but much more mixed than average Haitians or Jamaicans... Or that's why also you see that a country like Mexico have so few black people (something like 3% of the population), and that black Mexicans are very mixed (the same with black Argentines - by the way, blacks are 1% of population in Argentina -).

Some afro argentinian writers and academics to learn from are Patricia Gomes, Federico Pita, Nehuén Huellpin Pincen (afro indigenous argentinian) , we also have our own antiracist organizations to give black visibility here some of them being ACDA, AERA, AFROCHAQUEÑOS UNIDOS, and many more. Also I am tired of people erasing historical afro argentinian figures so here are some : Rita Montero, Alejandro de los Santos, María Remedios del Valle (captain of the argentinian army during the country s fight for independence, also known as Madre de la Patria meaning mother of the homeland). During elementary school we also had this historical cartoon called Paka Paka Zamba which explains the country fight for independence in which we have an afro argentinian girl called Niña or Saturnina as one of the main hero´s. The whole narrative of Argentina as the "europeanized" latino country is a lie and it was the idea of the early conquistadors who wanted to favor the european inmigration for the country to be "modernized" but we are not a white or european country in my case I have indigenous ancestry of Cordoba (being the Ranquel tribe and the Kamechingan also known as Comechingones) we also had a massive middle eastern, turkish, armenian and asian inmigration during the early 1700 and 1800 so we do not all have italian or spanish ancestry our history is far more complex than that. Many afro argentinians also have lighter skin because once the country abolished slavery in 1853 segregation did not exist which resulted with a lot of the population being mixed and during the time in which people wanted to whitewash the country if you had at least one white parent or a little bit of lighter skin you were not considered black but trigueño, pardo or mulato since black was an exclusive term for slaves, right now we do have a great inmigration of Haiti and Senegal but because of the economical circumstances and the inflation of the country right now some of them prefer to move to Europe, also Argentina and our anti racist afro argentinian activist care more about having black argentinians in our congress rather than the football league. Badempanada explains the historical aspects of this better on his videos (sorry for the long comment).

There are Afrodesciendentes in Argentina. The real issue is most of Argentinian with European descents refuse to admit there are Afrodesciendentes in the country.
The media doesn't talk enough of this community.
Concerning the National football team or any other sports, currently there's not one or two Afrodesciendentes players at least 🤷🏾‍♀️
    Anyway, it's sad.

There is no afroargentina community what are you talking about? Black people was a minority back then plus in 1856 we abolished slavery that means no slaves was coming from Africa and the black people who was already in Argentina they mix with other races to the point they disappeared as a 100% black since we didn’t have the problem US had with no marriage between black and white or a bathroom for black and other for white.’ Since we never had that problem our black people were free like any other Argentinian and they end up mixing with other races such as white european or nagive argentinians (indians) .’ In my case im white Argentinian i live in tge 🇺🇸 and my wife is black american! Racism its all over the world and i seen every race been racist sometimes.’ And that includes black people some of them are racist some Argentinian are racist but generalized its just a ignorant move!

I've been to Argentina and I can definitely say for a fact, in comparison to other Latin American countries, they do tend to be discriminative towards people of darker complexion,am not black but nevertheless could sense it,upon one of my trips to Mexico I brought up the conversation, and a Mexican friend told me the issue with most Argentines is that they tend to feel more European than Latinos, because a significant amount of the population are of Italian/Spanish origin, thus giving them a sense of superiority towards their fellow darker Latin Americans, the same thing in Chile too, irony is though when they travel to Europe, they are frowned upon,so just karma at its best 😉

I make fun about that argentines because they need to feeling superior going to a country where are more common dark skinned people to feeling the last coca cola can on the desert to feeling worthy.

    • @vvventure

thats not true, no one feels superior for being white or european here. We take pride of our roots, yes (and its only about italians, its a thing they had almost everywhere they emigrate), but the rest of latinamerica, specially places like mexico or peru that suffer spanish colonization the most, have their brain wired still like the spanish cast system. Spanish>creoles>mestizos>indigenous>blacks. You see it still today where they had white mexicans on tv and power while they hide their indigenous ancestry when they can.
There is no racism in argentina, just come here and you will see and saying we have some european roots is just bc the immigration waves build the nation and still does /from neighbours countries). Greetings from an argentine that is living in italy and wasnt frowned upon ever.
ps: the only racist expressions still existing in argentina are inherit from the past and does not mean the same today, also we never had systematic racism as a nation, there are a lot of latin american countries with worst track records

It is widely reported that president of Argentina from 1868 to 1874, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, undertook a ‘covert genocide’ that wiped out the Afro-Argentinean population to the point that by 1875, there were so little Black people left in Argentina that the government didn’t even bother registering African-descendants in the national census.

Argentina is a very racist country were europeans are idolized while native americans africans jews arabs asians and mestizos people are frowned upon.
During the colonial era Argentina has an african population of 37% but most of them were ethnically cleansed to Uruguay and Brazil some died during the yellow feber and cholera epidemic of 1850s some were force fully conscripted to the triple alliance war of 1864-70 and the rest intermarried with the growing italian and spanish imigrant population in Argentina.

Probably not, they are Senegalese, they speak mostly French and Wolof, and some Spanish because they are in Argentina, but very few English (if not nothing). I don't know how do you think that everybody know English, even from countries where is not spoken, it's ridiculous.

There is a difference buddy. Once you acknowledge that then we'll start to prosper. Tell the governments or the vatican we're all the same an they'd immediately tell an show you otherwise. GOD our Creator has a chosen people. That's the fact of the matter. Take a guess who these people are today???
