This is a great supplement to my current Sunday School class being taught by my friend who did his doctoral dissertation on the book of Revelation. I hope to help bring about a better understanding of the revelation of Jesus Christ to those who God brings into my life.
Hard to change the mind or perspective of someone who has believed a futuristic, dispenational perspective though. Seems to me it cripples them in the spirit in life right now in His Kingdom "hoping in faith" to go to a destination called heaven.

It’s definitely a struggle for me to go through these “worldview” changes.

Thank you, brother! I really like the way we are looking at what the text says, and not at a bunch of theories about how this all comes into play given the days we are in and the time we have waited. It's always good and best to first simply look at the passage, and contemplate it's meaning. Reflection and meditation are important, to see where the Holy Spirit leads us, and not to quickly try and answer and satisfy all our intellectual curiosity about current and future events. Beautiful examination of the text! Enlightening! Thank you, thank you!

My question about Revelation 1:3 concerns its application to Christians today. "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near." - I am considering the words "blessed are those who hear and keep...time is near". If the end was AD70, as I believe it to be, then in what way does it apply to Christians after 70AD? How can we be blessed by reading and keeping what is written?

The end of Daniel 12 and 1 Cornithians seem to be 2 differing events when you look at the context. Daniel 12 is about the end of the nation of Israel and 1 Cor. 15 is about the death Adam brought. Daniel 12 is fulfilled but the death Adam brought has mot been fully removed so 1 Cor. 15 hasnt been fulfilled nor is there anything in that text to imply that text has a preterist interpretation.

If you look at all the judgements throughout the Bible and study the apocalyptic language, you’ll see how God deals with his people and with the nations. Revelation is really no different, it helps us see God and discern Him at work even today. Only now, we see King Jesus glorified as the righteous judge over all the earth.

If we stay with the text, perhaps it would be good to understand how this message was a blessing to the hearers and doers before AD70. If the blessing for them was the same as the blessing to all Christians for all time, what was the point of the message to these specific hearers? Perhaps there is more to this, but the hearers were not in Jerusalem or even Israel, so would it make any difference to them if AD70 saw the destruction of the temple? Are we overlooking something?

In Daniel 9, the death of Christ and the destruction of the Temple both happen after the 69th week, but before the 70th week begins with the ac confirming Israel's covenant for that one final week. 70ad was not God's judgment on Israel, that happened still inside of this Dispensation of Grace. Revelation is a book of prophecy showing the fulfillment of Israel's prophecy of their 70th week, which Paul explains that Israel is blinded until this Dispensation of Grace for the Gentiles is over (Rom 11:25). That's when the 144,000 are called and sent to all the world. The Body of Christ Church is outta here before God goes back to dealing with Israel according to their prophecy of their 70th week.

@@bugsocsollie1694 you do realize that Jesus was cut off in the middle of the 70th week right? The 3.5 years of Jesus ministry plus the 3.5 years of His judgement in the Roman / Jewish war would makeup the 7 years and fulfill the 70th week. To suggest that the Roman conquest against Israel was not God’s judgment on Israel ignores much of what we read in the New Testament.

Hm, I personally think the book, if written before or after 70 AD, is a frame from the first century that is repeated throughout history. The 1260 days, which is Revelations reinterpretations of the 1290 days from Daniel 12, which begins the abomination of desolation, begins at Christs resurrection according to revelation 12:5-6 and ends after the witnesses die (the churches) in revelation 11:7. I also think that the 3.5 days in revelation 11:9 is connected to Daniel’s 1335 in Daniel 12:12. After that point the witnesses are called up, which I would assume is to meet Christ in the clouds to meet him as he comes in his kingdom. And revelation 11:17-18 has Christ judging the dead to give life to the righteous. And for the nations he destroys them. I think this is the revelation that was handed to him, being the book that was unsealed by Christ and eaten by John to prophecy in chapter 10. And that prophecy is shown as the 1260 days, or the time of tribulation. That being from his resurrection until ours at his second coming. This is what is sealed by Daniel in Daniel 12:4 and unsealed by Christ.

In Jeremiah 18, Israel is referred to as clay, to be shaped by The Potter. Could this be the reference in Daniel, the iron mixed with clay, as one of the major faults of Jerusalem is their reliance on Rome for peace and stability, instead of God. As you stated, the clay mixed with iron was crushed by the stone, so Jerusalem and Rome were crushed by the kingdom of God.

The dating of Revelation does not change the future revelation, as from the Papius writings and other first century Fathers. There interpretation from after 70AD see the Revelation and other New Testament writers interpret the writings of the prophets as future events.
Looking at the Church Fathers who are from John’s line reflect many of the eschatological events as to happen in the future and they used the Millennium Week calendar which is a Jubilee calendar that many of the prophets used, unless you understand how the Hebrew calendar works, you will not understand God’s prophetic restoration plan.

Doug. Why write to the seven churches which were in Asia? Why not write to the church at Jerusalem? Assuming Jerusalem the prime subject of Revelation. Or, why not include the church at Rome?
However, I understand that the 'seven', in the seven churches, is conveying the meaning, signifying, the complete church. Simply because the number seven in scripture means 'complete/completion/whole'. Since, everywhere the number seven is used, it refers to complete, completion or whole.
If, as some say, Revelation was a warning of the impending destruction of Jerusalem, why wouldn't it be addressed to the church at Jerusalem, itself? Cheers

    • @CrossToCrownLive
      @CrossToCrownLive  7 днів тому

Does the Scripture explain that 'seven' refers to "completion"? You say it is used in this way "everywhere," can you give an example that proves your point (without assuming it)? How would the churches in Asia have known to read it as "complete church" rather than as prophecy for them?

    • @robertcain3426
      @robertcain3426 7 днів тому

      @CrossToCrownLive
I'm not suggesting that the churches in Asia would have understood to take the letter of Revelation as referring to the complete church. I was pondering the relevence of the seven, completeness, in this instance.
The formost and most obvious example of the seven is Creation being completed in seven days. Seven days make a complete week; Jacob completed seven years servitude for Leah and seven more for Rachel; the seventy sevens of Daniel, which were determined concerning the people and the holy city to put an end to rebellion and to bring sin to completion'; King Nebuchadnezzar was assigned to live like an animal in the field until seven periods of time were completed; seventy years was assigned to Judah and Jerusalem through the prophet Jeremiah to complete their captivity in Babylon and the desolation of Jerusalem, Dan 9:2; etc.
Since the book of Revelation is a book of signs, we can be sure that the numbers are not random or literal. The reference to the three and a half is, then, must be a reference to an uncompleted seven. It is, in reference to time, a period which ends unexpectedly short.
A consideration of all the numbers reveals a lot concerning times and entities. And this is not about Gematria. It is scriptual references to the numbers 3, 3 1/2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12 40 and 1000 as keys throughout scripture which unlock information in the book of Revelation.
So, I ask the question to seek an understanding of why the Spirit has gone to all this trouble of hidden meaning if it was just for 70AD and the seven churches in Asia? I doubt that they would have understood it anyway.
I would like to share with you the references to the number eight and its implications for the entities in Revelation. I haven't come across any teaching on it in regard specifically to Revelation. Cheers

IDK your interpretation, but the Book of Revelation is written before 70 AD. And we are right now in the Lake of Fire stage .
Of course Lake of Fire is symbolic of Baptism with Spirit/Water,and Fire/Word
Ephesians 5: 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5: 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
So where do we see glorious Church appear ? After
Rev 21 :8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
What does the ´´baptism´´symbolize? Your old you goes the water in and perish, and NEW come out
“Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the HOLY Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, = HOLY and without blemish.
Rev 21: 11 having the glory of God. = that he might present it to himself a glorious church
Book of revelation reveal Jesus Christ and His Work ...Its a testimony, not prophecy . New Covenant have no prophets, only witnesses that can see that all is fulfilled. And call those who still live in Old Covenant and waiting for OT prophets to be fulfilled to ´´Come out of``

I always have and always will take what is written in the Bible literally, whether that be the Book of Revelation or any other book.
That being the case, Revelation is clearly and entirely a future event as there has never been a time in human history where these events have taken place, where, for example, up to half the world’s population has been destroyed.
In this light it is not a hard book to understand at all, it means what is says and explains itself along the way.

It's only been *two days* ...
[2 Peter 3:8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
[Psalm 90:4] For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
[Hosea 6:2] After two days will he revive [Israel]: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
[Ecclesiastes 6:6] Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?
[John 4:40] So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
[41] And many more believed because of his own word...
[43] Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
[44] For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
[John 11:6] When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
The church age is a parenthesis in Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy that lasts about 2 days (~two THOUSAND years) dealing strictly in grace.

A week is a grouping of 7. The 70 weeks of Daniel is referring to 70 x 7 = 490 years. The 70 weeks of Daniel is over.

@jpt7955 It's really not over. There is still one final week of Israel's prophecy to play out. That's also what Revelation is showing. No matter when you think Revelation was written, it was written well after Israel's 70th week should have been over, if the 70 were consecutive, but they weren't. Daniel 9 shows us they aren't consecutive.

@jpt7955 The Gospel of John is definitely the last book written, even after Revelation.
Daniel's prophecy of the seventy weeks runs right up to the "triumphal entry" into Jerusalem, *Messiah shall be cut off* ... There's one week of seven years left to be fulfilled (Genesis 29:27-28), although there's definitely scriptural evidence supporting the 3 1/2 years of Jesus' ministry on earth being the first half of that last week - 3 1/2 years great Tribulation; time of Jacob's Trouble; 42 months; 42 chapters of Job; time, times, and half a time; etc., etc.
The New Testament doesn't actually *begin* until AFTER Christ's resurrection:
[Hebrews 9:16] For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
[17] For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
      Notice:
[Acts 1:6] When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at *THIS TIME* restore again the kingdom *to Israel* ?
[7] And he said unto them, *It is not for YOU to know the times or the seasons* , which the Father hath put in his own power
At this point, Jesus was no longer limiting Himself as a "regular man" (not that He was before lol), but had been glorified and certainly knew the times and seasons, which are clearly different from the day and hour anyway. When they asked if THAT was the time, He essentially said, "I'm not going to tell you." Not, "I don't know." It's fascinating also, because the Second Advent *COULD* have occurred in Acts 7. Notice:
[Psalm 110:1] The Lord said unto my Lord, *Sit thou at my right hand* , until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
[Matthew 26:64] Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, *Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man SITTING on the right hand of power* , and coming in the clouds of heaven.
[Mark 12:36] For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, *SIT thou on my right hand* , till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
[Colossians 3:1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, *where Christ SITTETH on the right hand of God*
      Then:
[Acts 7:55] But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and *Jesus STANDING on the right hand of God* ,
[56] And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and *the Son of man STANDING on the right hand of God*
This sealed the rejection of Israel until the body of Christ is raptured off the earth, with Israel being fully restored at the end of Jacob's Trouble (Jeremiah 30:7). Nobody realizes the importance of *EACH WORD IN THE SCRIPTURES* .
It's at this point that God transitions from Israel to the church:
[Acts 13:46] Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
[47] For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
[Acts 28:28] Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
Notice also that Christians first appear in Acts 11 and other people call them that as an insult.
People make the mistake of thinking that the remission of sin is all that is required. Yes, the sins are forgiven but a payment for sin must still be made: Christ is our kinsman redeemer (Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Ruth). The guilty are *NOT CLEARED* (see Exodus 34:7 and Numbers 14:18), again, this was the purpose of Abraham's Bosom, to hold the *forgiven* until the *redemption* was made. This whole doctrine of redemption is the spiritual meat and potatoes of Hebrews. Remission and redemption are not equal; things that are different are not the same. Salvation by works PLUS faith is the required way for the past and will be required again in the future, the only exception being NOW during the Church age.
[Revelation 1:5] And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and *washed us from our sins in his own blood*
Our sins are not cleansed UNTIL Christ's blood was shed.
There are *TWO kingdoms* : the Kingdom of Heaven - the physical Jewish kingdom, and the Kingdom of God - the spiritual kingdom that constitutes the true Church, not the ridiculous amalgam of "Progressive Christianity." When the Jews rejected their messiah the physical kingdom left with Christ and will only return when He comes back. The spiritual Kingdom is made up of the Church, but will be removed before the time of Jacob's Trouble. Is heaven God? Is God heaven? Things that are different are NOT the same. There are also different requirements:
[John 3:3] Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the *kingdom of God* .
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, *Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit* , he cannot enter into the *kingdom of God* .
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
This is why the Kingdom of Heaven is so prevalent in Matthew's gospel: He is the JEWISH messiah. The Jews receive that Kingdom because of the promise to Abraham and his Seed. The other three gospels focus on the Kingdom of God.
The context of the Sermon on the Mount is dealing directly with the physical Kingdom of Heaven that will now be established (the Jews missed that Kingdom the first time when they rejected their King) in the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ (Rev 20) and the Jewish saints' conduct toward one another during this time (with doctrinal applications in this sermon for how the Christian saints are to conduct themselves towards other Christians both now and in the Millennial Kingdom). Notice that it's all based on works, just like the Old Testament. Otherwise, Christ contradicted Himself in Luke 24:25 by calling his disciples *fools.*

Revelations 10-7 where the mystery will be revealed. Does that not answer why those who have questioned why the wicked seem to escape Justice while the righteous are not recognized Do not the many question around why God allows permission for evil and destruction ?? Job asked those very questions. Is that not the mystery to be uncovered.
