Capris were HUGE here in England, they were kinda our Mustang. Shame it has those OTT US bumpers but a very, very cool car and increasing in value a lot over here.
my brother and i got a 74 capri for a old lady for dirt cheap about a year ago, the car is immaculate all original. its funny how similar we both got them. last time the car was registered was late 90, and all it needed was a new starter cable. same yellow like you're with the v6 and ours is a auto tho. right now im working on the gas tank, rust find a way.
I could loose any cop car in this, on the Southern Oregon coast. Stock. I have, actually, no cop car could keep up through the streets of Port Orford, Sixes River Road, China Mountain, Humbug Mountain S turns. I had one, with Stahlflex P205 60s. This car corners way better than it looks like it should, with rear air shocks. The 2.8L V6 was robust. Definitely a sporty car, tons of fun. Merkur Capri, made in West Germany. Tight tolerances. Mine, in 1984, 10 years old, would pop your ears when closing the door. So I kept 1 rear pop open window slightly open to avoid ear pops. That is how tight the then West Germans did it. Gorgeous car. My favourite car ever.
Agree, first ride in one of these I was impressed . At 75 it would swap lanes on the fwy way better than expected. Solid lifter 6 was seamless loved it Lotta guys raced those back in the day
I owned a Capri with that same color. It was a Cologne V6 with 4 speed manual. Can't remember who I sold it to as I ordered a '76 Capri that was a hatchback.
I bought my red 2.8i in August 1991 and a MK1 3 litre GT ford capri that is now an ETCC ford "works" touring car replica in blue and white with 16 inch 3 piece split rims and a box arch body kit with a duck tail spoiler.
This car is a super fun and fast car, even stock, it had solid lifters, (you can hear it), and nylon timing gears, i had one , had a offenhauser 360 manifold holly 260 vacuum secondary 4 bbl. , bored .030 over, mild Norris cam, cast iron headers, balanced to 10K, and it was pretty hard to beat... could keep up at 120 mph continuously... I miss it :(
NIce!! Lots of guys made those into canyon racers to compete with modded 510 Datsuns! Those were pretty quick considering, loved the sound of the solid lifters. Cars had a ton of potential and were good looking .
No exterior Brand name emblems ? Why is ford So embarrassed to have a name on the outside or anywhere for that matter, Super strange what ford does every now and then, but this thing is a super lemon and it sat super neglected because of the lemon factor and super ugly from all angles,a major money pit this thing is for the next sucker who can't live without it.
I had two 74 Capris... One stick and one Auto... The Auto looked exactly like this car..
The Capri was a blast to drive.
I owned 2 of them, a 1976 & a 1978

I have the same car. My dad bought it brand new in Seattle, WA. Mine now -it is ALL original also. ❤
I had a 1973 in 1976 with a 2600 V6 and a 4bbl carb, duel exhaust with hush thrush muffler and a 4speed . Drove awesome , sounded sweet.
owned 3 different capris. Loved each one.
Nice Car!

I had one of these back in the early 80s. Was reliable and fun to drive.
I had a ‘77 Capri Ii V/6 4 speed back in high school in the late 70’s. My first car senior year.
Great Cars!
Ford really knew what they were doing back then.
This car ran strong handled good tons of potential.
The Sexy European... Nice ride, we own a 1973 2600GT

Had many of the capri's
I had one yellow in newyork back in 76 a gt and the fenders didn't come bolted on but spot welded
Just got a 78 mk3 gold capri ghia 2.3 , i lucked out in a big way

If you ever wish to let this car go, please reach out. She will have a good home.
Not the tires. The rack and pinion went bad on these. Mine would bounce off the road between 27 and 34 miles per hour.
Take those silly bumpers off mate and replace with euro spec bumpers
omg♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
My 74' hauled that ass. I put a crane came in it w/4speed. It would go fast
Had a 73
How much fro the car ?
Same yellow. 2600
Hi Are you selling the car.?
How much ?
I would give you $20,000 if you ship it to the UK
I had a yellow 72. Those 5 mph bumpers on the 74 ruined the car's looks. They should have done a little body work on the rust before they sprayed it.
not a rare car, Opal made a similar car. My first wife had one. Fun to drive. These were sold at Mercury Dealers.
Most of both of those models rusted out long ago.
They are rare now and going up in value.
