Wowzers! I wish you and I were good friends, and you owed me a big favor or a bunch of money. So I could just wander down to random pawn shops and antique stores, buy stuff, and hand them to you. Amazing effort and execution!
Thank you so much! Aww that’s very sweet of you! I’d love to do more classes on building things or do kit builds with people in the future! That’d would be so fun! I’ve also toyed around with the idea of live-streaming some builds. Lots of options!
I have one of those I bought for my college daze. I just cleaned it up and took it in for an electrical going over. Kept cutting off for some reason last time I used it. Didn’t have the heart to toss it out, but the case is trashed. Now that I’ve seen your video I think I’m ready to try building a case. Love your vent solution! Thanks for a great video!
Amazing! Thanks for hopping platforms! I’ve been hearing that from people so I’m slowly making things longer as I get better at filming and figuring out how to talk about these projects haha.
Ah man! I’m glad it reminds you of your grandpas Yamaha. I love those old Yamaha receivers. This one is for sale but I’ll also have some Yamaha restorations coming in the next couple of months! Thank you for watching!
Awesome video and job man. I really like the style of your videos. Vintage audio and HiFi is coming back in a huge way and seeing more creator content like this is very enjoyable. I’m very interested in a possible future video showcasing your recommended tools for both woodworking and electronics repair. I’ve always wanted to do either and would love to bring some old receivers back to life. Keep the videos coming!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you saying this. Vintage HiFi really is becoming cool again. Especially for people in their 20's. I've seen/helped so many people get into the hobby in my town now. Super cool. Thanks for the video request! I will add it to my list! I can definitely make one for my electronics bench and one for my woodworking bench!
Wonderful! Seeing an old SR returned to proper condition is a joy. Thanks for sharing! BTW, was that ending reference "Thanks For Watching" a nod to Frank Howarth? It seemed very on point. 😂
I love that you love it! These are definitely the more underrated Marantz models and I see why, but they sound great and I'm a big fan of the looks! Haha, the ending was not a referenc to Frank because I hadn't heard of him, but I just checked out his channel and I love it so thank you for sharing!! I see the similarities as well haha.
If you enjoyed this video, I'd be honored if you gave it a like and subscribed to see more. This project was full of ups and down and learnings but I really love how it turned out. If you did too and you're interested in owning this piece, it's listed for sale here: www.ebay.com/itm/386936130099
Nice work. I hope you did not throw out those black plastic screw cups that hold the case cover in place. I could use a set :D I have worked on a few of this series, mostly the SR-4000, which I use as my PC sound system and listened to your video on. I have done an warm white LED upgrade on mine, which included a strip of LEDs tucked above the tuning scale (behind the little piece of aluminum dressing). That gives the whole tuning scale a nice glow.
Thank you! Haha I saved them! I figured someone could use them so I would list them on eBay or keep them. If you need a set I'd be happy to send them over. Shoot me an email. I love your idea of adding the LED strip in the tuning dial. Did you add a AC to DC converter for it or just wire them off of the existing dial light power?
I like to think of you sitting in your easy chair, listening to gorgeous music, and admiring your handiwork for many, many years hence. You have added to your Marantz's value with your electronic skills and woodworking prowess. I really like the blonde maple aesthetic; they should've made them that way from the start! Aloha!
That's my favorite part about building furniture or customizing stereos for myself. I get to enjoy them and feel proud of the space I've decorated. Glad you like the maple! I agree, it looks right on this unit!
I recently got a harman kardon 930 and cleaning off the years of nicotine stains was sooooo satisfying. Unfortunately when I power it on it starts smoking😬
Oh man that is one of the most satisfying things you can do! I love cleaning up a super gnasty unit! You should get a dim bulb tester if you don't have one! It could be something simple but it's hard to test without having a variac or dim bulb. Thanks for watching!
I could sell you the original case. I was planning to throw it away because it is in really bad shape. You could have it for the cost of shipping (probably $30 bucks or so). Shoot me an email

Awww haha thank you! I do love working on random things I find at antique stores and stuff haha. I appreciate you watching!
Fine work, Matt.
Thanks Tennyson!
Sick video homie! That spinny transition effect in the beginning was SOOO GOOD!🤯
Ayye thanks Johnny b! Glad you liked it haha. That was one of my favorite parts to make!
I just got one of these SR-1000’s, too!
Your detailed restoration is helping me a lot!! Thank you 👌
Awesome! I'm glad to hear it!
Outstanding. As a weekend woodworker, I know how frustrating it can be. But, you did an outstanding job! Beautiful work!
Ahh you can relate! Only so much time to do stuff and it never feels like enough time haha. Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
Great work. 👍👍👍
Would loved to have a friend like you near my home as I love watching these live and I can spend hours.

Nice! The new case made a huge difference. The original was poorly made. Thanks for watching!
Good job 👍
Looks great Matt. Thank you for sharing.
I'm glad you like it, Peter!
I found you on TikTok, glad you’re here. I for one wouldn’t mind longer videos detailing the work. :)
Amazing! Thanks for hopping platforms! I’ve been hearing that from people so I’m slowly making things longer as I get better at filming and figuring out how to talk about these projects haha.
great job the video length was perfect 20-30 is good i always wished you videos were longer and show more detail like you did here have a good one
Thank you! Glad to hear that you like the longer format :)
Awesome job I would love that receiver, it reminds me of my grandfather's old Yamaha. I wish I knew what happened to that one.

You did your thing man 🙏🏾
Doing my best :)
Nice job Dealy !!!
Thanks so much, Gene! I appreciate you watching!
Nice work on the case! The 2 tone lights would bother me in the long run, warm white is so much better!
Thank you! Glad you like it. I agree, the warm white is best. So cozy!

I’d change the lights to match :)
I’m glad you agree!

The HK says it can quit any time it wants! 😆
“I’m not addicted, I swear!”
Hey, If you still have the old wood case I’m in need of one. Would you be interested in selling it to me?
I could sell you the original case. I was planning to throw it away because it is in really bad shape. You could have it for the cost of shipping (probably $30 bucks or so). Shoot me an email
I have an SR 1000 in great shape that i am trying to sell but i cant give it away here in Alaska.
Haha yea you might have to ship it! I’d be happy to pay the shipping if you’re just trying to get rid of it 😉
@@Shuksanaudio Ha, i am not giving it away. Nice try. I will take $100.00
Haha fair enough. I’ll pass for now. Got more projects than I can keep up with.
Great Job Mate !
Thanks so much!
