Thank you Holly. It would be great to also see a video of cleaning the screen after use. As you said - "Ink drying on the screen is the biggest enemy". So is there a way to also slow this process down, ie: mix something in the Speedball ink ?
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can add retarder to the ink to slow down the drying a little if you want to. A screen cleaning videos is a great idea. We use a soft car sponge in a bucket of cold water. Scrape off excess ink from the screen and then ring the sponge out and gently wipe the screen on both sides to remove the ink.
@@Handprinteduk yes the Screen cleaning video would be much helpful. Most of the videos on you tube skip this part. the whole focus is on showing the print. And videos concentrate on that part. Cleaning means, being able to reuse it. I say this because after seeing ur video i approached a studio here in India, where they work with Oil based inks, not water based, only because of Cleaning issues. And Oil does not dry so quickly but the smell is really bad. It is toxic i feel. Thank you for sharing ur cleaning process. I wish you supplied material here in India.
Great video, thank you. I have an issue where the ink is bleeding. Reading around I think I should have off contact between the screen and the paper, is that right? What would you recommend?
Yes, off contact is best for printing onto paper. These hinge clamped boards hold the screen off the paper which is ideal. If you aren't using a board you can tape coins or cardboard under the corners of the screen to raies it up a little
i have screen printing medium ( System 3) . Just wondering .. does it have a shelf life ? It seems fine .. also should i stir it before mixing 50/50 with my acrylic ?
Story of Five we use a board with a space routered out for the hinges - it makes it slightly easier for beginner - screwing the hinges directly into a board works well too. We sell the routered boards on our website.
Hi, Here we're using the Speedball Acrylic Screen printing ink - handprinted.co.uk/collections/inks-for-paper/products/speedball-acrylic-screen-printing-inks however, you can also use Acrylic paint mixed with Acrylic medium - handprinted.co.uk/collections/inks-for-paper/products/system-3-acrylic-printing-medium to mix your own inks.
I’m new to screen printing and have a question. Is it possible to make a design with different colors? Let’s say I wanted to add a yellow and pink outline to the design you used here. How would I do this?
You may not realize that every time you touch the screen in the video, it produces a horrible sound. Very distracting when I am trying to hear what you are saying. Otherwise, very helpful.
Welcome to screen printing. You’ll hear that sound a lot. Every time I hear that sound, it sounds like the bing of a cash register to me. It means I’m selling something.
Thank you.The details of how to hold and press the squeegee with shorten my learning time to get good prints.
Absolutely love the accent, nothing like the American accent at all. Over all a really good video, keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Absolutely love how you let the paper stencil stick to the screen! ❤️
Perfect, this is what I was looking for! Thanks and you have a store!
Thanks for watching!

Awesome video. Do you just let the ink dry when done? You don't need to apply heat like with printing on fabrics?
Yes, you just leave it to dry naturally. No heat setting necessary

The medium lasts for a very long time. If the consistency looks normal, it's ok to use. Stirring it is a good idea
@@Handprinteduk thankyou !

You have to make a separate stencil for each layer that you print. So the yellow layer would be one and the pink layer would be another.
Can you screen print on glass or mirror ? Have you got a video ?
The videos are too quiet. I can hardly hear you.
You may not realize that every time you touch the screen in the video, it produces a horrible sound. Very distracting when I am trying to hear what you are saying. Otherwise, very helpful.
Sorry Leila! I don't realise I'm doing it at the time. I'm so used to using screens that it doesn't bother me but I know it's annoying for some people
Oh get a life Karen. People like you are the worst. Literally complain about anything.
