Correct! Many of the 10 Commandments predate Moses and were known to earlier Civilizations such as Ancient Sumer and Mesopotamia. They may also be called the 10 sayings. The Bible is a collection of ancient manuscripts. People need to remember that those rules and Laws were known long before they were adopted and written into Religions. Boebert's wrong about honoring your parents being the first commandment. It's the fifth. But it's terrible as a universal commandment, regardless. This commandment excuses abusive parents and doesn't define what "honoring" means.
She didn't say it was the first commandment; she said it was the first one that has a promise of reward for obedience attached to it (that you may live long in the land...). She is correct about that, although the commandments before that promise punishments. As for defining honoring, the Bible does define it as listening to and obeying, as well as acting in a way that brings honor to them and their teachings. The concept of honoring God, your husband, and your parents actually takes up significant space. Unfortunately, very little space is ever spent talking about treating children well, mainly in the New Testament. The Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) has some pretty bad behavior allowed for parents against their children both in the laws and in the stories. Including, but not limited to beating them until they are bedridden for a significant time (as it also says can be done to slaves), having them put to death on the mere accusation of talking back or being rebellious, and in one case sacrificing them (even though child sacrifice was supposed to be prohibited).

The Decalogue, just as the Creation Myth, appear in more than one version which is hardly surprising when the fact that The Hebrew Bible, AKA 'The Old Testament' derives from a combination of at least two ancient versions, grafted together in one of the many redactions to which the text (not of a single book, but effectively a sort of collected literature of an ancient nomadic people). Its value is not as history (it was never intended to be that - at least not in the sense that a modern audience understands that idea). It is a collection of genres of literature having variable utility, relevance and applicability to the modern world, the most useful being the ability to prompt measured exploration and discussion of moral values in various contexts.
Commandments 1-4 are I am God, you'll bow down to noöne but Me, you'll make no image of mMe, and don't work on My day of rest. Only after taking care of Himself does He move onto life lessons for humans. And He's down to six now. Why do you think He had to issue seven more, and make those "deadly"? You'd think Mr Omnicient could plan better. Funny, the gay thing is in the writings about the writings. Not in the writings themselves.
What a laugh! Bobert listing off specific commandments that she has quite publicly NOT kept! And wait--it gets worse! Moses was just the messenger...GOD was the first law-giver. That sanctimonious jackass doesn't even know.

HOLY CRAP!!! Did Lauren Bobert even watch The first episode of the West Wing???!?!?!?!? "Honor thy Father" is the 3rd Commandment.
and she cannot count! two points --- and she says "you got A (singular) point there"
First of all respect and trust must be earned not given.
There are parents out there that do not earn an ounce of respect.
As George Carlin said in his 10 Commandments routine.
Apparently she never read the Bible?
My advice to everyone for the end of 2024 is to read book Your Life Your Game by Keezano 📕📚I’ve read it, and it truly changed my life. It beautifully shows how connecting with God and your inner self can lead to spiritual growth and family/career success. A must-read.. 💕
thank you❤
"onward christian nationalist fascist
marching as to war
with the cross of cruel hatred
going on before"
the bible is an iron age comic book
stories about people with super powers
and an attempt at recording family lineages.
i cant believe my cousin signed that into law. he literally embarrassed the entire family with that one
Separation of church and state. Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion.
I spent most of my education in private religious schools and there was *never* a copy of the 10 Commandments posted anywhere.
Is that crazy Kenneth Copeland's kid in the red tie? Lololol
It looks like a spawn of Copeland
Um ... isn't teaching knowledge of the Christian Bible the area of Sunday school teachers?
Why doesn't anyone ask how often the person getting interviewed goes to church? How involved are they in there church? Do they teach Sunday school? Do they participate in Ladies and Men's group at church? Do their children participate in church? ETC....ask religious questions to these religious people.
Not one of those was a religious question.
@@sdilluminatigrandfounder3807 Attending church and being active in you church is a religious question. How can it not be? Just because I am not asking for quotes for ether the NT or OT doesn't doesn't make attending and participating IN your religion faith an unreligious question. Practicing and participation are KEY to a religious life.
Are they planning on hanging it next to the president’s picture? I’m curious how they spin it to kids that the incoming president has and will most likely continue to brake all of the commandments!?!? 😂 Maybe if you focus on the 3R’s, especially in the states with low tests scores. They are much needed!
Lauren Whorebert speaks holy crap. Oh HELL !!!!!!
It should be the Constitution, NOT the bibble!!!
I’m a Christian-proud of it too. But these hypocrites and Pharisees DO NOT represent me. AT ALL. WE ARE NOT THE SAME.
Same here! The church is seriously lacking in morals in my opinion!
So you are proud of supporting slavery, and that they should submit to their masters, and that women "must be quiet"? If the only reason you are a good person is because you fear a god, you are not a good person. You are a bad person on a leash.
@@sdilluminatigrandfounder3807so because I’m a Christian I support slavery? Or hatred? That part of the Bible is the Old Testament. As in Old. Outdated. Much like the parts in the Constitution that prohibited minorities and women from voting. Again, NOT MY CHURCH, NOT MY CIRCUS. I said what I said…
Maybe boebert should have taught her own son good moral values. He wouldn’t have knocked up his girlfriend and made his mom a grandma. Wouldn’t have been arrested on multiple charges.
I've seen the original scroll of the bible, in Jerusalem.I was told no one living can interpret them. The bible now talks about things that didnt exist then.So interpretations are personal not theological!
Get up to speed, this is 2024.
There’s just so many interpretations and different ways of writing down what was given through the centuries! Maybe bobo should read the 9th commandment!
An "original scroll of the Bible" does not exist. FACT
Watching them do backflips defending that sickening book.
Don't Forget about the movie "History Of The World" Mel Brooks... There were 15 Commandments .. Moses drooped the other five.on the ground and broke it. Hahaahha
The Ten Commandments in the original Hebrew?
All later versions, interpretations, and translations meed not apply.
There are at least 3 or 4 versions of the commandments in the bible and they do not agree.
What is to be expected from those who still have an imaginary friend even as an adult.
Did she just that. Wow 😮😮, pot calling the kettle black😅😅😅😅
What a laugh! Bobert listing off specific commandments that she has quite publicly NOT kept! And wait--it gets worse! Moses was just the messenger...GOD was the first law-giver. That sanctimonious jackass doesn't even know.
Religion… the advertising agency that represents a product that doesn’t exist!
We don’t need anyone to tell us what these people are like.
