one argument you didn't consider for Tanjiro surviving passed 25 is that he was temporarily turned into a demon and that reset whatever strain the mark had on his body. Just like how he got has arm and eye back though not fully restored to normal perhaps he could have be given some additional years to live

How did the first Sun Breathing user live for so long? Was it bc he was basically born with the ability to use breathing techniques? Didn't he live to be 80?
Because that was his natural body. He was born with the mark.
He invented Sun breathing but no one could ever truly replicate it. So it’s been Branched off to every other style.
And those Yoorichi is never truly pushing his body. It’s his natural state. Awakening the mark for a normal person is pushing their body to inhuman levels. A body temperature that high, a heartbeat that fast, and hyperventilating that much should kill you the second it happens.
I think a lot of people missed this, but only none sun breathers die for activating the mark. Tanjoro and the first sun breather will not die from the mark and is the reason Tanjoro revitalize the mark for this generation of demon slayers. So sun breathers don’t have to worry about the curse of the demon slayer mark

I would like to think the "Curse of the Mark" ended with the death of Muzan. However, since the mark's requirements pushes your body past its limits, anybody marked who would be alive past the final battle would STILL die by 25.

Ey yo since Tangiro ebcame a demon for a short while it mey have nulified the curse and alawed him to regenerate from its efects, it is cind of a long streach but we know that if a human with a mark becomes a drmon they will not die from the curse so even thow it is highly unlikely tangiro might have lived longer than 25 years because of that brief demon transformation, pls don't roast me I knwo wery well taht this is probanly more wishfull thinking than anything
Here's my interpretation on how the demon slayer mark's curse works; maybe the reason why the marks kill the user at the age of 25 is due to constant use of said mark. Gyomei was past the age of 25, yet showed no signs of heart problems because it takes time for the effects to take place. As for the other demon slayers from the sengoku era, it was stated by Kokushibo that they were slaying demons left and right, meaning they constantly used the mark. Yoriichi was an outlier likely because he was born the mark, thus his body could handle the constant strain of the mark's effect. But that's the thing, Giyu and Sanemi weren't using the marks by the end of the story, because they didn't need go use the mark anymore. For Tanjiro? Even in the last parts of the story his mark is still active, so the mark may take its toll when he hits 25 because he made his body constantly use the mark's effects. But I wholeheartedly believe the demon slayer mark's curse will shorten a users lifespan the more you use it, it's just the age of 25 is the hard limit if you use it constantly. If you are pass the age of 25 and only use it once? You shorten your lifespan by a few years.
You forget though, that Gyomei had only activated it once and that was only for the final battles, and even stated that he probably had a few hours at best since he was over the age of 25. After the battle was finished and he deactivated the mark he passed away. There is no in between. 25 and that's it you're croaking. Until the author IF the author ever gives specifics that's that. If I had to guess though, it's probably more a spiritual thing like muzans ancestors curse than physical. Just like they were cursed to die early and with disease for spawning muzan, the slayer mark gives you superhuman abilities for the price of your lifespan. This story did have massive spiritual ties to things so who knows...

You gotta keep in mind that despite Gyomei was over 25, we never actually saw him with any heart related type problems after activating the mark up until right before his death (im not a doctor so maybe he did but still). Even though this story has its supernatural type aspects, it's still semi-realistic, and its highly unlikely that a bulky, extremely trained, seasoned veteran demon slayer like Gyomei would drop dead after killing Muzan if he didn't have such life threatening injuries. Besides, he even trained to activate it before the fight with Kokushibo, like he even said "I was saving this for the battle with Muzan, but I got to lose using it here!", Meaning he knew that the more he used the mark, the more likely he'd have heart problems. And if you're wondering how he activated it outside battle, keep in mind that it doesn't necessarily have to be a battle, just a life or death scenario. And what is Gyomei's training regime? Exactly, a hellish training where we saw Inosuke litterally drowned and Tanjiro almost dying to dehydration. So it's not unreasonable to assume Gyomei upped his training to where he almost died, achieving the mark, but not using it because he was passed 25 years old and afraid he'd die too early before the battle with Muzan.

Well, we don’t actually know if Tanjiro, Giyuu, and Sanemi died at 24. It’s all up to interpretation and I’d like to think that the curse was lifted after Muzan died 😅

I think the reason why Yorrichi lived after the age of 25 was because he was born with the mark. Unless. I have a theory. What if Tanjiro is actually Yorrichi reincarnated?

The life span of the mark could have something to do with the breathing style, as clearly evidenced that the mark takes the shape of whatever breathing style the user has. So perhaps the breathing style also affects how the user's lifespan will turn out. If each breathing style is derivative of sun breathing, logically it would also mean that each person who receives a mark would have an *incomplete* mark, due to having also the breathing style be incomplete. So if a sun breather were to recieve the mark of a sun breather, then all aspects of the mark are gained and sun breathing counteracts the disadvantage(s) of the mark.
Then there's also the possibility that the reason why tanjiro was able to survive being in the sun despite being the new demon king, was that *he was already a sun breather* so the aspects of the sun were already present in his body prior to turning into a demon. Like rank 1 upper moon has the moon breathing mark and his blood demon art becoming similar to moon breathing. Perhaps tanjiros blood demon art would be enhanced sun breathing. *theoretically*

The mark's curse probably isn't a curse in actuality. Slayers that awaken the mark most likely die young due to the stress and toll of the effects of the mark on their bodies. High body temperature plus heightened blood pressure seems to sharpen their senses and provide access to vastly more power. It makes sense if the body is working overtime, the slayer in question would then be granted power to match the conditions met.
One can strengthen their physical condition to the utmost, but the heart is the heart. Yorichi was born with the mark, therefore would be able to grow and develop amongst the mark's conditions. Tanjiro might have been an exception as his family practiced Sun Breathing, albeit unknowingly, so generations of use could have ingrained the conditions in their DNA. Meaning the Kamado family would have been practicing the conditions to meet the mark's effects throughout the generations.
Similar to chicken pox vaccines being given to people for decades and slowly eradicating the disease throughout the generations.
I’d like to point out that Demon Slayer also takes place in a time period where the lifespan of the average person wasn’t all that long to begin with. Just saying. Even if we consider the fictional aspects of this world such as sun breathing, Knowing that total concentration breathing is inspired by a martial arts breathing method, and demons; the average lifespan still during that time period wouldn’t have been much older than 40. This is an average of course and there will always be exceptions to any rule, but this is a story that took place during the turn from the feudal to industrial periods of Japanese history. Between all the war and the recent introduction of improved medicine, lifespans wouldn’t grow much for at least another two generations. Evidence of this is in the fact that we see many people die from basic illnesses in the series.
maybe tanjiro will die at age of 85 but only on sun breathers like yorichi who died at 85? idk I forgot since yorichi is sun breath user and tanjiro too while the mark shows. So maybe the other hashira will die at 25 but not the sun breathers who awaken and spread the mark. This was my opinion only.

It would be nice to see what happens to everyone during the timeskip. I think Tanjiro does live past 25 but doesn't die from old age. It would be kinda sick in a way to see he still had some of Muzan's cells trying to grow over time and realizing this, goes to Yoruichi for help only to find that there really isnt a cure for it other than death.

I kinda had a theory that the former marked users always have it on all the time so that had a strain on there bodies but Tanjiro and ths others doesn't have a reason to do that so i will see them not dying passed 25 but there still not living to like 50s or 60s

The curse could be lifted and instead of it being 25 as a hard limit it's more dependant for how long the mark was used instead. So it would still be unlikely they'd reach 80, but instead anywhere from 25 to 60 or something?

Gyomei can be argued to have died from it. Tanjuro is heavily implied to have died from it. And Tanjiro as well. And then a ton of people died from it back in the day, it wasn't limited to people with black blades. And the reason people with black blades died was because Muzan hunted them down, not because they learned the wrong style, in fact, they knew the right one.

The only people we see with a black blade were Tanjiro, and Yoichi. And it's specifically stated that Those with black blades could never Settle on a breathing style, Implying the ones they learned didn't suit them.

Maybe the diagnosis with the mark is off and they correlate the mark with dying early since high death rate is expected with that line of work,maybe they haven't see someone survive that long because they are always at the front line,they dont really make a case for it to be the case (or maybe not i dont know).

I always thought the rule about dying before 25 was due to all the battles a marked one will fight. It's not a curse that kills at 25, it's just a power up that usually leads to the person dying before 25. I can imagine going into a state of elevated temperature and heart rate puts a toll on the body, and the fights that require such a boost are life or death struggles. So, it would make sense that a person wouldn't survive long being pushed to the limit.
