You are comparing this opening to the extravagant openings from Born This Way Ball Tour or ArtRave, but the previous openings reflected the complete eras of the album. Born This Way was a dark, rebel, extravagant era for Lady Gaga, her songs, costumes, and performances were over the top. It happened the same with ARTPOP, it was a colorful, artistic, fun era and was reflected on everything that she did. In the other hand, Joanne was a personal, country, and down to earth era. Most of her performances to promote this album were sentimental, personal, and with her signature pink hat. So, if you don't like this Gaga, you can search videos from her previous ball tours, watch them and to complaining.

The opening shows vulnerability. Someone just starting her career, not really sure what she's doing except that she's passionate about it. Which reflects the song, especially, and the album.
