Sony PSP 3000 - How to replace super capacitor - Won’t keep date/time

- This is how to replace the CMOS on your PSP 3000 motherboard. If it’s visually bulging or leaking, this is the cause for if your system won’t keep a date/time at setup when you remove the battery. It can also be the cause for if your system sometimes won’t turn on with a generic battery and won’t turn on with the charger plugged in, but sometimes it’ll work fine (weird issues like that).
Here’s the link for the part on my website:

i Recently order the batteries but i haven't got a update or tracking number? where contact someone?
@@vincentvinogradov1243 all orders are shipped within 2 business days, so if you placed an order on Friday then I’ll be shipping it out on Tuesday.
@@blakeblundell9001 thank you
For anyone wondering what the specific cell is, its a
Panasonic EECENOF204J2 3.3V 0.2F Super capacitor. Its really hard to come by, BUT the EECENOF204J1 works as well and that is what I used to replace mine on my PSP 3000.
bro, could the cmos be related to the problem that the psp recognizes the battery for 8 seconds and then turns off?
I love that board holder dood!
Just a quick heads up - that's a supercapacitor, not a battery.
They rarely leak but a battery might be more likely to do so, so just be careful with that.
Also, keeping date/time isn't really that big of a deal so it's probs for the best to just remove it if it dies.
It was very useful your video. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for the video and links!
Will this fix the constant battery drain?
Thanks for showing this. Did it work when re assembled?
This motherboard was in my scrap pile due to an unrelated issue, but it also happened to have a bad CMOS. So it was a good candidate to showcase the fix anyway. I’ve done this repair a few times on other motherboards where the CMOS was the main issue, and it did resolve the date/time issue as well as other power related problems.
what if use wire attach to cmos battery instead of direct contact to motherboard, won't that be more efficient like in the future if want to replace it again
It’s pretty easy to remove it again as long as you don’t try to get it super close to the motherboard when installing. I like to sit a bit higher on solder mounds in case the cmos that I installed was faulty (you can actually check if you have a multimeter and set a battery on the contacts of the motherboard)
@@blakeblundell9001 is there cmos battrey holder this small? just not convy it must be resholder to replace it again since this is a common problem
Can it just be taken out without removing the metal plates?
You could replace just the cell portion, but it’ll be harder to fit the replacement in there. The plates will be slightly bent from how the old one was attached and then you’ll have to use some type of tape to give enough pressure for it to work
@lundell9001
I mean I don't want to replace it but just remove and forget. I have a psp 1000 and getting random shutdowns and I suspect its cause the CMOS leaked. Also the 1000 has a capacitor not a cell like the 3000. No videos on removing the 1000 one, so asking around. I heard that just removing it will work fine, but I wonder if I need to actually desolder the thing, or just bent it and take it out.
I accidently lift off the solder pad for the cmos battery. Any fix suggestions?
The left pad or right pad? The right one is pretty easy to solve
@@blakeblundell9001 both unfortunately🥲
Hello, what's the model of this battery? I want to find it here in my country since you guys don't send here.
3.3V 0.2F Super capacitor
Only the specification (3.3v 0.2f) is the only one that can be used on PSP? In my country's online shop, there is one with the same specification, only the shape of the plate is different from the original PSP, is that possible?
Sorry bad english😂
where did u get the heat gun?
I’ve got a Quick 861DW. I think I bought it on AliExpress, or maybe I got it off eBay
Is the supercapacitor the same as the psp 2000?
@@pepe-kh5bo they have a different location and the 2000s have a different design for the mounting points. The 1000s and 2000s have the same design
Will PSP work with no cmos capacitor at all?
@@ПаноДол it could either not turn on at all, or only turn on if jump started off a charger
Hello what is the battery called im on other country so i cant buy that in your link but whats the battery name is it the battery cr927?? Plss respond
These are the ones, but you can find smaller quantities of them.

Thanks for help bro. You are the best!🎉
Such B's to replace a battery on PSP😕
Just done mine without soldering iron. I just remove the battery like he did but keep that iron plate of cmos battery and replace it with new battery. I'm using glue and strong tape to reattached the battery. It's working perfectly.
Hello sir, how may I contact you?
You can respond to these comments to contact me.
@@blakeblundell9001 I am very interested in a console on your website, do you think it would be possible if I can get a video of the console up close on the backside and front so I can see any marks or dings? Thank you!
Which listing in particular? They are all processed to order, so I’d have to finish it up first. I won’t have time until Sunday night or Monday.
