So evidently it only has a 100/100 Ethernet connection rather than the 1 gigabit connection making for slow file transfer rates. You would think that in this day and age everything would be gigabit..
Sorry I’m not sure I understand what your saying. If youre buying a new 8TB hard drive and it gets damage , you’ll lose your data. Unless you have a backup
as of sept 2024 the my cloud app doesn't work for mycloud os3 devices, only for os5. Question - what is the firmware version of your drive, is it above 9.4? Is the cloud app working fine in September.
@@90SAF yes, as long as your internet speed at home ( upload speed) and connection to new location is good enough. I have 900mb/s upload, when i want something I access it with my 5G network from my phone and have 0 issues
WD didn't discontinue the home cloud support, is one of their best selling. Maybe the post you saw was referring on an older wd that doesn't receive any more updates. With an older one is safe to use it as an SMB but is not safe to use it over thr internet. But all models from 2016 up are still supported at the moment
@@techforlife91 Just got it 2 months ago. Tech support can’t do anything, I even let them have control over my PC to set it up via remote desktop but they fail. I can do SMB with my Macbook but not Windows 11 though.

Faulty cable, an updated video will come soon. But yes,the speeds that your seeing is for 100. With the cable changes I'm getting around 120-150MB/s
Need to google this mate. 1gb Ethernet equates to 125mbps transfer speed.
Thanks for the video! Have you tried with Time Machine?
Hi, I’m working on another video about this device ( 6 months after) , i tried time machine yesterday and works perfectly.

WD Tech Support can’t even help me connecting my Windows 11 PC via SMB or map it as a local drive in the same network.
Did you manage to do it? If not let me know what year was release, i can tell you the steps
