[DIY] Making a Checkering Tool. /

- Thank for watching.
I made a checkering tool.
Checkering tools are not in demand in Japan and are difficult to obtain, so I made my own.
Since I am a beginner in welding, the quality is not high, but it is a product that can be used sufficiently.

I love to watch people make their own tools and use them to good effect.
Thank you for sharing your joy with us.
Thank you for the step by step commentary on technique, tools used, types of steel etc. very informative
Thank you, too.
Your comments have been a great motivation for me.
@@46craftworks I think the guy was sarcastic. Don't worry thought, as an actual craftman i know what you did and i like your idea of using a small file to make the engraving part of the tool.
0:42 the guy take a small precision triangular file and sand 2 side of it using sand paper. 1:47 he makes a notch using a harder triangular file to mark his cutting points. The steel of a file is very hard so he pull out the diamond blade saw. 2:58 he cut the handle from what seems to be a 3mm thick 25mm wide mild steel bar. 3:24 if you want to save you the pain and time here you might just want to buy a narrower piece of steel. 3:35 i swear this mast have taken hours... 4:18 guy heat up the steel to make it easier to work. 4:44 he took so much time clamping it that the steel is now cold and hard again so he just wack it with a hammer, perectly valid technic, i would have skiped the torching and go directly to that step. 5:04 he apply flux to the part he's about to solder so that the solder stick to the metal better. 5:51 he deposit a small piece of silver solder that he proceed to melt, fusing the pieces together. 7:01 he mix epoxy glue for the wooden handle. 7:31 he clamp the piece of wood with C clamps and let the glue dry. 8:53 more epoxy for the other side. 9:22 he probably realized that the vise is less trouble than using multiple c clamps which can be a huge pain to work with. 10:38 he apply lin seed oil or something similar to protect the wood. The rest is self explanatory.
Funny. I came here to find how a tool could be made for cleaning up guitar bridge slots and the opening music is slide guitar blues))) Thanks for the episode
Never stop , you're an inspiration to those who feel things may be out of reach. truly a quality channel- and the most respected my time has felt in a while.
Thank you very much.
After reading your comment, I want to start working again.
That is a great gun checkering tool.
Very hard to master. Well made too
Thank you so much.
Great video, thanks. A useful tip for the future; solder flows towards the heat, so point the heat at the object you want to solder, not at the blob of solder.
Great work. We shared this video our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Thank you so much.
A great and beautiful work, I thought I could find it, but I can't. I have to make it or order someone to make it. What is the name of this tool, brother?
🏆PERFECTION🕊
Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing 46 CW San, I’m very curious about the steel blade you’re using, because steel has so many numbers and quality’s
Nice. I wonder what would happen if you tried to do the same on diamond files.
thanks!!!
This would all seem to be a complete waste of time as the cutting head will be annealed after heating up , after just a few lines cut in Walnut they will be blunt, the cutter head must be very hard to be of any use.And there do not appear to be any teeth left on the cutter head?
Thank you for watching the video.
I understand what you are saying, but I have made several grips with this.
Personally I would use a cut off wheel on a rotary tool or angle grinder to do all the metal cutting, and a grinding wheel to shape the sides of the file - but that's me.
Como se llama la herramienta
Perfeitas
Thank you.
Where did you get the twin line cutting tool that you silver soldered to the Steel Bar
Did you skip the first 3 minutes of the video?
(5:36) - U didn't show us how this double rows of teeth were made.
That's the most crucial part, not the tooth brush handle.
U just cut the thin jeweler's small file in two pieces, then placed them
side by side just B4 setting them on that steel handle? It would have been
nice to show that step.
solder travels to the heat
try heating in the mid next time
only if u use flux ...he burned it all away before he even had the cutter part in place
a piss poor attempt at soldering
wow aring
Thank you.
Brother you forgot to show the teeth of the tool
Me ha pasado lo mismo. Es lo más fundamental.
He was using a file. Files cut wood, he braised two onto a piece of steel parallel, and thus cut the wood…………….!
You just blew the temper
Thank you for watching.
doesn't matter it's for wood
What is that used for?
Used to carve checkerboard grooves into the non-slip of wooden grips.
I'm editing a new video with this right now. It's a bit of a playful piece, but I hope you'll take a look at it.
Thank you.
@@46craftworks you did a great job on it beautiful piece of work thank you. I look forward to watching your video
Very handy idea that can have lots of great uses and can also be great in the medical area for people with poor grip for holding things. You could start your own business in buying cooking items and other things around the home and carve checkerboard grooves on to them and sell them online. You could even advertise through hospitals, physiotherapy offices and with doctors and clinics giving them all a link to your online contact so they can pass it on to patients who might need these for home care. You could even contact medical equipment suppliers that have their own online shops and offer to your ideas to them so they can order as required. Great idea lovely job
To much work, i do very easy
Not everything is about easy or not. Actually not very much is...
A complete waste of time and tools. A much more eficient can be made with an old screwdriver, a torch and a good slim file. And saving the file BTW.😅
👉💯👍
👍👍🌹
I am assuming the teeth are the saved file teeth...
👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Why cut the one inch wide to get a quarter inch and not just buy it at a quarter inch wide 😂😂😂😂this guy is a tool
Do it single??? With only one teeth
This is a double tooth.
Carve parallel lines.
Hard way to make a checkering tool
