Security guard a good guy. Its a shame because usually conversations start off bad with police, security and employees and it doesn't have to be this way because we have so much to learn from each other. I hope he recovers well from his cat bite. GREAT job man you are on top of things with the law. A video of yours came up randomly on my playlist so I'm glad to have found you and subscribed. I watch allot of auditors and you are one of the educated ones who's not afraid to take on the police's bs.
"I'm about to do something illegal and extremely violent to you - would you mind giving up your only protection against my lawless actions so that I won't be held accountable for them?" - um, no.
doubt very much a camera's ever saved somebody that another really wanted dead. I mean take a loose brick falling. That brick gives zero fucks if youre on camera or not it wants your brain. Record may protect others in the future by revealing dangers and promoting new safe gaurds/protections.
i tell him do you mind shut ur mouth & walk away to leave me alone if not i get my lawyer to file harassment charges on u so take ur pick keep ur job or lose it cuz i make u feel the pain when i force u get mental help ASAP
Roger Makam supervisor needs to be called to give a him a positive response. He was cordial not too intrusive, the other idiot who asked you to put the camera down needs to be identified and reported.
Mata Pendejos I agree. My comment was written backwards I guess. I’ll correct it here.....the only thing you can trust less than a stray feral cat is a cop
The building had a camera on every corner of it. I’m not worried about a database entry on me. If the government treats me like a terrorist for filming, than who is the real terrorist? Fear is control.
The intro was priceless... LOL !!! The ending was even funnier. I would have never thought in a million years that a stranger would open up like that to recording device.
This is a link to the DHS memo: www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/Operational%20Readiness%20Order%20HQ-ORO-002-2018%20Photography%20and%20Videotaping%20....pdf I wish there was some clearer wording to this part: "Except where security regulations, rules, orders, or directives apply..." It sounds like any building security can issue an order at will and that then becomes a qualification for an exception.
After you were telling that security guard a few things, (like it's a first amendment protected activity), he seemed to really "get it." He's a good egg.
Awesome job! I watch a lot of these videos in this by far is one of the best. Very courteous the whole time very well composed and the dialog is not negative.
Whenever anybody, and I mean anybody, refuses to be recorded, it's for one reason only. They intend to do and/or say something for which they do not want to be held accountable. It's not complicated. And, if someone makes such a request once, never ever have contact with that person again without it being recorded.
My only critique would be your initial reaction to both of the gentleman that approached you. I think you’re very well informed (beyond me ha), but just be more calm, easy going, and less dismissive. The first guy wasn’t too professional at all. The security guard was such a genuine guy, and in the beginning of your interaction with him, he wasn’t trying to harm you or give you lawful orders or do anything beyond being a genuine guy. You just came off really cold. I do appreciate that midway through that second interaction, you eased up a bit. Keep up the good work! 🍻
For educational purposes.....No matter what is said or who says it......(this includes any law enforcement official, security guard, or any public employee). It is in actual fact, completely legal and your constitutional right (in all 50 States) to film or photograph things that are plainly visible in public spaces. That includes filming or photographing public employees or police officers while they are at work. Any attempt to prevent you filming or photographing in public spaces is a Violation of the 1st Amendment of the American Constitution and (California only )The Bane Act: Civil Code Section 52.1which provides protection from threats, intimidation, or coercion and for attempts to interfere with someone’s state or federal statutory or constitutional rights.
That cop should know to take the sidewalk to his car. He's out in the middle of the street walking into oncoming traffic lmao. That's dangerous and illegal.
"I'm threatening and intimidating you. I'm armed (at least very close by), and have many, many armed coworkers. I want to harm you for having the audacity to try to hold me and my pals accountable by using a camera. Would you mind putting that camera that is the only thing preventing me and my pals from going into full attack mode down? Then we can "talk" to you until you are no longer conscious and get away with it."
Out of all the rare, but lawful activities that must take place in society, why do they choose to investigate the lawful activity of public photography near this court house? I know why: The your photography can robustly document their petty misconduct. And, that is what they want to stop. I am certain that that woman that the guard referred to was going about her normal daily routine, which included some petty misconduct, and she was surprised by your camera. Then, she thought it thru & realized that you likely had documented her misconduct. So, she enlisted the guard in an attempt to intimidate you into leaving.
As you can see I don’t go out of my way to film ordinary people. Only time I do, is when they approach me or call the cops. The educational part of this is now the security guard and that woman know public photography is legal. Also, people see me filming and know they can as well. Thanks for the comment and watching!
This is one of the better videos I've seen in a long time. That security guard was awesome funny little guy. And obviously either the dispatcher or the police told them he was doing nothing illegal because I never saw any cops. either way it goes love the video keep fighting that cause
(12:43) I got bit by a cat. With that amount of bandage it looks more like he was mauled by a lion. Similar thing happened to me with a friends Siamese cat. Claw and bite damage to my hand and up my arm to just above the elbow. For those of you that this has never happened to, trust me, it hurts like hell. Was in bandages for weeks, but fortunately no rabies shots.
I have to tell you...Roger is a great guy and cares about the plight of animals. I was so ready for him to act like a complete douche, instead he shared something of himself and made ME feel like the douche for judging.

Security guard made me smile. Could listen to him more. You can tell he is a kind and content soul.
I agree.
Jim Stewart , the security guard is a dick he still tried asking for ID so your wrong!
The security guard could have been santa claus with that voice
The security officer was cool, plus I love his accent.
Boring
That guy was awesome. Totally genuine and not tyrant at all. Kudos to him. I hope his hand gets better. Guy is a class act
Security guard is a nice fellow.
That security guard was really nice need more like him
I agree. He has no guile.
I've never seen a more professional security person ever! And will say that your approach is very tactful and intelligent! Keep up the good work!
Security Guard seams pretty nice.
If he lived next door to me.... I'd probably have a great neighbor
The Security guard turned out to be a really nice man. 😻

Roger is a good man, have to like a guy that is an animal lover.
So u like animals then automatically you are a good guy as per your logic?
As a professional videographer, retired years ago, I commend you for the camera work. It was smooth and easy to watch.
"Do you mind putting that down so we can talk?"
Don't worry sir, my ears and mouth still work perfectly fine.

What a nice man. I wish everyone could go by his example
Aww poor Roger. What a big heart, trying to save a stray cat. I just saved a kitten 2 weeks ago. Love seeing videos with good interactions for once.
We must fix the Police Academy. They don’t learn to honor their own words.
Imagine some random guy approaching you with a smile and asking “You mind putting that down?” without blinking? Creep
Weggy P no I don’t mind putting it down- but I’m not going to

Do you mind reciting the First Amendment to US Constitution in which you swore to defend and uphold? You can't? Yeah I'll keep my camera documenting.

The first guy was Just another public servant with a sense of entitlement. They seem to forget who makes it possible for them to have a job.
Thumbs up for the Rogers he looks like the people we need that has understanding ove Constitution if you see this Roger Grate job my brother
The security guard was awesome. What a cool guy..
Nice to see a perfectly civil security guard not on a power trip. Unusual.

Everyone here commenting on the security guard so..... Me too, I must! He made me smile. Straight away you can see he has a good soul.
With all the auditors out and about it's nice to see a cordual interaction. Well done sir.
Great audit with humour and understanding the way it should be !!!!! Well done !!!!
First time I've seen an audit by you. Enjoyed the relaxed style and even the cat story. First guy was a bit wet to say the least.
My first time watching your video - I appreciate your interaction with the older guy and the way you handled it.
That's a good video. Something more then yelling. Your a good guy letting the old man tell his story.
Man In Black turned his car around in an unusual way so his dashcam could record you for their database.

Best security guard out there.
Old people are so entertaining. "Have you heard of the First Amendment?" "Yeah." "Have you ever READ it?"
If that first guy has anything to do with the FBI heaven help us...he has less than zero investigation skills.

"Your out of your jurisdiction...I'm not talking to you"
Then proceeds to talk to him. smh
