Great find by JesPiper, may be the solution you need, never heard of them either. I smoke Virginia/cavendish blends and what I have learned is that you need to pack your bowl more loosely, tamp it less often and lightly and sip the smoke a bit more than you would burley blends. And remember most Virginia's have a "tang" in the tobaccos flavor so giving it enough air seems to reduce the heat and tang, at least for me. Take care and God Bless.
Hi gary, I’ve smoked a pipe over 40 years. A few years back I took a 8 month break from it, but I missed it so bad I started up on my old faithful blend and pipes which was condor green & erinmore mixture 50/50 mix, in my falcon pipes, and like you I had terrible tongue but issues, I was wondering what the hell was going on because I smoked that blend for so long with no issues whatsoever. So I threw the mix away thinking it might be because it was old or stale, brought new packs & mixed again. But no joy, so I cleaned all my falcons but no matter what I did it just wouldn’t work, so I brought a briar basket pipe and again my tongue was on fire, I was at the point of quitting for good when I stumbled on a video with Simon at LCS briars talking about his tongue bite issues too. He said at the end of his video. So if anyone is having tongue bite try a 9mm filter pipe as it worked for me. So off to my local brick & mortar and brought my first 9mm pipe with a pack of filters & what do you know, to this day I’ve never had a problem smoking any blend. Don’t ask me why this is Gary, it could be a 100 reasons but it works & it works well. So looking at your video it seems it’s working for you too buddy. Very nice of him. I love cigars. I'd smoke one everyday if I could afford it. It's a lot of nicotine in some cigars. Eat first, have something to drink with you and don't retrohale. Blowing smoke through the nose, while usually enhancing the flavor, will also cause more nicotine to enter the blood stream. I enjoy that but as you say, your tolerance isn't there yet. And most importantly, take your time. No need to rush the smoke. Most cigars will stay lit well without constant puffing. Some say a few pieces of chocolate will help with nic sickness. I can't say but it can't hurt. Hope that helps
Mark, KBV sells direct to the customer. He offers a lot of blends, aromatics, English, VaPers, etc. his tobacco comes vacuum sealed. I have some in my cellar that almost a year old. I’m going to open it in October to see how well the vacuum sealed pouch worked. Kbven.com
I think with MS filters you have less filtration and more flavor... there are also 'supermix' filters available by the same brand with MS and charcoil inside! Enjoy your smokes! 👌👍
No problems. I’ll probably try supermix as well. I have two year supply of 9mm charcoal that work on most blends. So I’m going to try different filters on the blends I like but occasionally get tongue burn.
Some cigars will sit you on your tail with the nic hit. Be sure to eat first. After eating dinner off then still about knock me out🤢. Keep us informed on the filters, tongue bite gets me all the time too.
