All that you see and what you have in and outside your home is made with fossil fuel One more comment, your medication is made with the aid of fossil fuel, again would you change your lifestyle???

Thank you to all those that care to fight and can make a difference on a large scale by taking action, now you have all the information you need to be able to make a difference. Thank you to those that see how important it is to keep empathy alive like a lit coal, lit and tended carefully then handed preciously from trip to tribe. Pay to play, perhaps? I'm aware of how climate change has made these UFO stories our only hope of avoiding extinction within a decade. Immaculate Constellation Document "The official disclosure of the existence of Non-Human Intelligences (NHIs) and their presence on Earth is a pivotal moment in human history." Does anything prove faith worthy of respect more than finding prophets & cherubim in the Yellow Pages? President Carter, informed he lacked a need to know, was left weeping from the UFO brief. He was a man of faith; Earth is owned by machines. Faith feeds followers with ludicrous nonsense: Numbers 12:3 Now Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth.
Love the idea of climate trace! Let’s spread the word to everyone! And Al, don’t apologize for being fcking pissed! We should all be angry and use that to get in action!

I gave up driving 18 years ago, use public transport or walk, don't fly anywhere, installed solar panels, got rid of all gas and grow as much as I can freely sharing around. What about you?
Bravo 👌👏 how far do you live from your urban center or do you not need to do a commute so many days a week? Are there trains or motorways which were built over discontinued railways?
@@toyotaprius79 It's a 20 minute walk which will shortly get longer when I move to a very well insulated granny-flat that's yet to built to my design so my daughter can have somewhere to live when the heat gets too much for her in the future. I'm almost 73 and retired so don't need to do more than survive and grow more food than I need to share with the wildlife that visits and the people I know in my local town.
Good for you, unfortunately the overwhelming majority of humans AIN'T doing anything to reduce their consumption and collectively we are totally doomed to near term extinction 😢
It's so hypocritical to me that these wealthy people fly all over the world, often in personal aircraft, live in massive homes, and own several of them, yet tell everyone else how we should change our lives to help deal with climate change.
If he did this same speech in a Zoom call from his bedroom would you and all these people have seen it? Did you see the part about how coal just piled up waiting to be burned somewhere emits more that the entire aviation industry? Or that Gore has helped companies like Amazon, Apple etc reduce their overall corporate global emissions by millions of tonnes per year. As much as we all individually need to reduce our consumption, every little bit helps, we also need systematic change to help us get there. And sometimes systemic change requires someone standing on a stage in some conference center, that is just a fact. You may already be convinced to lower your personal emissions, maybe even try to take that to work with you too. You are not the target audience for this talk. The people who need to be convinced to change are some of the people sitting in that convention center. It is just luck you saw it too. That "gotcha hypocrite" argument is 100% BS created by the side that wants zero change except growing demand for fuels for personal profits no matter what the harm to society. Nothing would get any better if Gore ranted in the UA-cam comment section from his small apartment. Obstructionists like you would for sure win the day until we all perish in environmental catastrophe. If you are calling Gore a hypocrite, my guess is that you have also not made a lot of sacrifices to reduce your personal emissions. So who is the bigger hypocrite? Either that or you are just a victim of right wing pro-fuel propaganda.
"Yes, climate change might be a problem. Reduce your personal carbon footprint & everything will be fine." Propaganda from the fossil fuel sector to convince you that any significant progress will be onerous & uncomfortable. Government entities are the only actors that can facilitate zero carbon emissions. You can't turn a fully loaded oil tanker with a rowboat.
~28:00 Cancer Alley is an interesting case, and Gore is being quite specious in discussing it. The cancer risk is from creating petrochemicals, not primarily from burning fossil fuels. To eliminate it, you would have to stop producing those petrochemicals, and I don't think many of us are willing to do that, or do something else. And even if you substituted biochemical feedstocks, which might well be possible, you still wouldn't eliminate the cancer-causing emissions. The processes need to be changed, and that, no doubt, will be much more complex than eliminating combustion of fossil fuels for energy.
Fossil fuels have literally saved and enhanced billions of lives. Rational people embrace the concept of environmental cost/benefit analysis. Irrational people shriek "stop doing that".
@@anthonymorris5084 Rational people are willing to change when circumstances call for it. Sometimes "stop doing that" applies. It certainly applied when I quit smoking 35 years ago. Sometimes you just have to see when stopping is the only way to go forward. Cost/benefit analysis now calls for a shift decisively away from using fossil fuels for energy. And rationality does not consist of specious points about what good or bad has been done in the past. the past is gone. Let's move on.
@@ronaldgarrison8478 There are no circumstances calling for the elimination of fossil fuels. There is evidence of warming. There is no evidence that warming is causing a "crisis". You want to see a truly Mad Max world? End fossil fuels. Inexpensive reliable energy generates the wealth that created the modern world. The modern world is an anomaly. It's the modern world that keeps you safe. Fossil fuels keep you safe. Warming isn't a problem, poverty is the problem and depriving people of inexpensive reliable energy generates further poverty. Smoking has no benefits. It's an addictive substance that kills you and others around you. Fossil fuels have generated incalculable benefits to humanity lifting billions out of poverty, enhancing and saving lives. A shift away from fossil fuels requires a replacement for fossil fuels. There isn't one and you can't run a modern economy on wind and solar. There is nothing to "move on" to, nor is there a valid reason to harm society by ending fossil fuel use. You've got it backwards. Fossil fuels aren't harming humanity, they're saving it.
Cancer Alley is along the Mississippi River, yes? That is a different but similar problem. Factories and chemical plants need to filter and contain their air, water and soil pollution. We need to use the EPA and federal support to help industries remain functional and profitable while drastically reducing their negative effect on their area and the planet as a whole.
Last winter Greenland scientists recorded a phenomenon called Vertical Atmospheric River Rapids over the southwestern coastal icesheet. It was an extreme vertical high-low-high-low pressure Atmospheric River that moved on shore and acted like a vertical chainsaw on the coastal icesheet. I've been sounding the alarm on climate since 2015, and so my friends kept saying, 'the earth will be fine(with, or without us)!' So callous! So short sighted!
I love you Mr Vice President Gore, and so glad I was trained as one of your Climate Reality Leaders, but I really wish you’d get our food system and animal agriculture into your talks. Going to a whole, plant-food vegan, or even just moving to the Eat Lancet diet with fewer animal products, would do so much for arresting or slowing climate change, as well as improve people’s health.
solar panel is composed of five layers: glass, EVA, electricity-generating cell, EVA and a backsheet made from polyester film. Other petrochemical-based products used include polyisobutylenes to seal the edges of glass and silicon structures and polyurethane to secure the framing of the PV and solar panels. When I think of the petrochemical industry, I think of the innovative and revolutionary role the industry plays on each of our daily lives. Without it, the wind and solar energy industry would be left in the dark.
Recalling my time as a self identified Green, it was a pleasant identity to have. Other Greens were generally pleasant, nice people, and inoffensive. We had this common belief that we really cared, felt a responsibility and were prepared to make sacrifices for a greater good. But therein lay the danger. We didn't regard ourselves as sanctimonious, but behind the facade of our niceness lurked a sanctimonious hubris, in that we regarded people other than ourselves as ignorant and in need of saving. It began with a love of nature, not a bad thing to have, a dislike of pollution, desolation, and contamination. But contaminated we were, we took the CO2 global warming, climate crisis narrative, hook, line and sinker, with little question, or examination ! Yes the people selling the idea buried us in data, but we didn't choose to examine, or challenge them, we were the chosen, who were out to save the planet. How many have rewatched Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth ? The first time I watched it I took it as truth, it spurred me on, confirming my belief and reinforcing my self image. Well it didn't stand the test of time, much like Greta's tweets, it's an embarrassment, the crisis failed to emerge. CVD ! Thank you CVD for opening my eyes. You revealed yourself for what you are, ambitious totalitarian, authoritarian, Malthusians, who hate humanity ! There they all were, the philanthro capitalists who sold me “ Oil will make us boil “ pushing by every means bar physically holding me down, to put an experimental gene therapy into my body, into all our bodies ! You let the mask drop, and as a consequence, I rigorously examined everything you had ever told me and found it wanting ! There is always more than one way to approach a problem, so why not employ all of them ? The problem in your eyes is us, the useless eaters, so how do you reduce our numbers ? Well if you can get them to hate themselves, which a generation or more clearly does ! Get them to identify as a blight on the planet ? And then they might just volunteer, go quietly ? Slowly poisoned by novel “foods”, novel pharmaceuticals, particles sprayed into the air, starving as the politicians who claim to represent them attack the food supply, through austerity because the oil that fuels our prosperity is reduced and removed, or better still casualties to avoidable wars. Well you misunderstood this former Green ! Yes I love nature, and I love the planet, but I love humanity too. And as for you Malthusians ? You are the problem seeking a solution, and people are starting to realise, so you’d better finish building your bunkers soon !
There is no solution that isn't a timely solution. There is no solution that doesn't cut fossil extraction in time. That time is by 2030. That cut is 100%. You can make it with 1.7% cuts per month to fossil trade. You can do it by cutting licenses and permits to fossil trade, without any changes to existing laws. Just a few dozen public servants in each of four dozen petrostates control those license approvals. And they don't attend COP.
As Dr. McPherson says - predicaments have no solutions. I don't think you know about the aerosol masking effect, for if we stop burning fossil fuels the planet will heat up even faster. It's a catch 22!
Someone or something deleted my reply. Why is what Dr. McPherson says is so feared. He is the only one who has exposed the emperor. I'd love to hear Mr. Gore and the Dr. debate.
@@terryknapp-z8b Time for debate is long past, and only time wasters still call for debate. No clue who this "Dr. McPherson" person may be. You mean fringy doomist Bill McPherson? Failing to cut emissions 100% by 2030 has nothing to do with McPherson's weird prognostications, and won't wipe out humanity by 2026. It will make the price of bread $30-$40/loaf by 2040, though.

Chinese factories have long been powered by solar energy with batteries en masse. Solar panels produce solar panels. Including that it is required by law. China will decarbonize first, at least for the health of its own people. Now let's see what the former new blond grandfather will do, considering that he calls decarbonization a "green scam", whether he will return his own country to the Middle Ages for most, but only for the money of a handful of god-chosen sponsors.
It's rather inconvenient that his catastrophic predictions have all been wrong in the past. Hunga Tonga increased H2O in the atmosphere by 10% , but this is conveniently ignored in favour of the extreme alarmist rhetoric.
I love Al Gore, but the climate situation is both lethal and irreversible, and its dishonest to pretend that by reducing emissions, we can solve this. 5c-6c abrupt global temperature rise is locked in by current ppm co2 and methane. As Gore pointed out, greenhouse gasses dont just fall out of the atmosphere after a few years. They are recalcitrant. Co2 stays in the sky for up to a thousand years. We are in runaway greenhouse, as evidenced by the fact that we have already triggered a dozen powerful climate feedbacks, and there are huge stores of co2 and methane that will be released as the earth heats up. The only way to fix the climate, is to do the utterly impossible, by immediately removing 3 trillion tons of greenhouse gasses from the the atmosphere, (the removal has to be powered by only clean energy, or you have to remove a lot more than 3 trillion) and then removing and sequestering 40 billion tons annually, which is the amount humans emit annually(because humans are an uncooperative, uncontrollable species that is addicted 100% to dirty energy, and emissions are projected to increase, not decline.) Climate speakers are under tremendous political pressure to pretend that reducing emissions will solve the climate catastrophe. Their carreers would end quite abruptly if they were to admit, what I have just admitted.
I agree with you. It is too late, short of some technological miracle of carbon capture which is highly unlikely, we are on a runaway train of climate disaster.
Thank you Mr. Gore for your movie showing us exactly what was going to happen to us. I saw your movie Inconvient Truth when it came out and warned everybody I knew. Been driving all electric since 2015, had no kids, live very lightly on our precious globe. It starts with everyone of us.
You are so right Mr Gore in my own little life i try and not buy any plastic . I buy local as soon as I retire , no car . When I dont work I walk . I help cleanup efforts where I live … the people with big power do nothing
Unless the conversation focuses on overshoot, (over population, overuse/over-development, over-extraction of resources... ) OTHERWISE we will just know and see the collapse as it occurs.
From what I understand it's far too much C02 for the natural systems to filter. Not to mention we are still chopping down forests meaning there's even less trees/plants to filter the air so the gas is rapidly increasing.
CO2 is why Venus is the hottest planet. We have too much CO2. It's a delicate balance we have to maintain. Plants absorb it and give off oxygen, but less and less forests and more deserts are causing less absorption.
Too late! Horrible things have been happening. They are happening. They will continue to happen and they will only get more horrible year on year. Buckle up.
As a Washingtonian I am glad to see Jay Inslee and proud of Washington’s progress on climate but Jay don’t say the word Fanny in front of an international audience 😅 For all the British and Australian people who are minorly scandalized, the word ‘Fanny’ here is equivalent to ‘backside’.

Yet another high-emitting vacation in yet another exotic location, for tens of thousands of smug politicos. They need to understand the importance of costly signals. If they commit to never flying again, the rest of us might start to believe they are serious about this. So far politicians are not changing their lifestyles in the slightest.
This is how it works, they invalidate your fossil fuel use and validate their fossil fuel use. The typical "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. They're just far too important to give up fossil fuels and naturally us peasants are all just Earthly contaminants.
When people say we're "addicted to fossil fuels" they are not kidding. I have a 40 year intimate knowledge of addiction. Take it from me- the world is addicted to fossil fuels- in every facet of addiction. What is the solution? I don't know, but I know that mere presentation of facts won't do it, though it is a necessary 1st step. Thank you Al Gore! Prayers.

As an environmental scientist and engineer, I strive to convince doubters of the plain physics of what is happening and the data that support those physical processes. Doing so effectively is extremely difficult, as recent history has proven. I applaud the efforts herein to inform. HOWEVER… By 40 minutes into this presentation, I have seen no data that are repeatedly referenced as being shown to the audience in the room. I find this effort to inform lacking. Talking heads don’t convince doubters. Evidence does, and the closer that evidence is to their lives the more effective it becomes.
It would have been better if the editor had shown us the images and graphs presented instead of the person speaking, regardless of the importance that the former vice president of the most polluting nation historically may have.

Sorry Al.....the (trump) American people will do nothing because the changes will be disruptive. Question: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? do you eat meat? Drive a big SUV? Installed solar panels? Take a plane to a vacation spot?
The recent uptick in Ocean temperatures is because of the cuts to shipping pollution, which was masking the warming by providing enhanced cloud cooling. Cloud rebrightening is needed to save corals and people from heat exhaustion, which could be done by allowing ships to mix salt aerosol with their, emissions and remove soot. The addition of iron oxide aerosol particles would increase methane removal by clouds, and provide diffuse ocean fertilisation when it rains out, increasing ocean carbon dioxide absorption. that would mimic the effect of mineral dust aerosol, boosting fish stocks and ocean biomass generally.

What an amazing initiative climate tracer is! And in combination with project drawdown we have so much knowledge. But politics is heading in totally the wrong way!
Econ 101: supply and demand. Use less fossil fuels and less will be produced. During the COVID pandemic, the price of oil fell so low they had to pay to have it taken away.
And what exactly happened to cause this mega drop in fossil fuel use, ah yes, the entire economy shutdown, businesses and schools were closed and millions didn't go to work. Not a solution.

Thank you Mr Al Gore, you are a true hero champion for climate change. The awareness of world leaders to participate on climate actions, we may success to overcome climate issues in future.
Almost no one is realistic about climate change and what is needed. A recent Ted Talk speaker (ua-cam.com/video/MHZMQLDr-OA/v-deo.htmlsi=CCnwiwz6SCDFUT0i) pointed out that most climate deniers aren’t realistic about the science but they are realistic about what would be needed - a reduction in their consumption, which would reduce their ‘standard of living’. While most people who accept the science are kidding themselves about the impacts of the solutions. Hence you get people flying to these conferences in private jets without being stoned upon arrival. No group or country will ever voluntarily reduce its ‘standard of living’, especially democracies because politicians in favor of these changes will never be (or stay) elected. As shown by the majority of United States citizens recently voting in a climate denier. If there is a path that doesn’t end in a population bottleneck, I don’t see it. Do you?

Would you change your life style for the lifestyle in Africa No central heating, No car to drive around No car to drive you over to the supermarket, No TV and no street light No clothing to wear and so on, would you change your life to that as in Africw and in the Amazon, Brasil and peru to name a few, Before India became independent from England 1974, the life expectancy was around 32 to 37 years, to day thanks to fossil fuel the life expectancy is now around 72 years. All that you see and what you have in and outside your home is made with fossil fuel One more comment, your medication is made with the aid of fossil fuel, again would you change your lifestyle???
What can a lower class person do to help? What can we do on the ground? Its great to have all this information, it shows the discrepancies in the larger picture. Thank you to all those that care to fight and can make a difference on a large scale by taking action, now you have all the information you need to be able to make a difference. Thank you to those that see how important it is to keep empathy alive like a lit coal, lit and tended carefully then handed preciously from trip to tribe. It's so hypocritical to me that these wealthy people fly all over the world, often in personal aircraft, live in massive homes, and own several of them, yet tell everyone else how we should change our lives to help deal with climate change.
Hypocrite emissions are equivalent to non-hypocrite emissions.

We need to use the EPA and federal support to help industries remain functional and profitable while drastically reducing their negative effect on their area and the planet as a whole.

solar panel is composed of five layers: glass, EVA, electricity-generating cell, EVA and a backsheet made from polyester film. Other petrochemical-based products used include polyisobutylenes to seal the edges of glass and silicon structures and polyurethane to secure the framing of the PV and solar panels.
Gore and the Dr. debate.

Al gore stopped flying his learjet?
Right on, write on. Thanks for telling the truth, hard as it is.
I agree with you. It is too late, short of some technological miracle of carbon capture which is highly unlikely, we are on a runaway train of climate disaster.

I'm not sure about this but interesting info. Thanks.

That is so true. The individually driven car culture needs to be replaced by public transportation, bikes, scooters, feet, stay-at-home offices, and I’m sure I’m missing more.
@ with you there. My parents got hit by a car crossing Main Street in Vancouver. Dad had a brain aneurysm before that getting hit by a car while riding his bike in a group tour. Then my nephew died hailing a cab in Kelowna New Years morning. Uncle Fred dead while strolling on a country road. My wife suffered for many years because of a driver that should not have been allowed to drive. On it goes, and most people can relate a heart breaking story.
Documentary 'Planet of the Humans ' made Al Gore look as bad as bad can look.
Doesn’t address the need over and above photosynthesis that could resolve pollution issues, nor does it prove any apocalypse.
Inspiring as always.
Just wish we saw more of the display than the speakers…

@wtkwok5579 thx !
What an amazing initiative climate tracer is! And in combination with project drawdown we have so much knowledge. But politics is heading in totally the wrong way!
I admire Al Gore for his constant dedication, he has never given up the fight 👏👏👏👏
I used to be a fan of Al Gore, but I don't recall him campaigning relentlessly for Harris and the climate during this election. 😢
Do smokers listen to the Surgeon Generals warning on cigarette packs, or do they choose to believe to ads with healthy, attractive people looking, "Cool". Do some people simply not care about lethal outcomes? In addition to facts, we need a change of heart. We must pray. Prayers.
Do you?
Great Speech !!
The science is settled, rising CO2 causes climate hysteria.
Clown
Can we please see the slides?
