Forgot to say I am a classically trained pianist. RCM Canada. Not arrogance, just, I know talent amd skill when I see it. This woman is gifted and scary good as a technician. BRAVO.
There's a lovely interview with Kat Dyson (Cindy Lauper's guitarist for a while) at NAMM she is trying out pedals and says something similar. She doesn't collect shoes, but spends her money on pedals! Jo is such a great guitarist and makes it look so easy. I saw her live last year and it just blew me away.
Saw her at Harpenden last week! She did a scorching set. Superb! For me? Foremost Brit blues singer/guitarist for me. Her support band were also top notch!
Christian K. BB King smiles more because she uses the same pentatonic box BB uses. SRV played with much more complexity and was all over the guitarneck.
Nice ... Good thoughts on the simple pedal board. Just getting to the sound you want/need is the difficult part. Two TS's seems a fun idea all of a sudden mind! Cheers!
Thanks for that Jo.No rock star pretensions here, just stuff we want to know. The pedals are tools of the trade, you still have to be able to play the thing in the first place and no amount of pedals will change that.See you in October.😊😊😊
I agree... I first heard about her two months ago and I'm hooked! She's definitely got that Janis Joplin sound to her voice and she's awesome on guitar! 😎👍
Absolutely tight technique. The Tele is such a joy. And she can push them both as hard as can be. This woman has skills beyond Stevie. Watched him live. He was unbelievable. I believe Joanne is better. Heresy. Sorry guys. But her skill level is enormous. Never seen such natural skill. Never thought I'd say that. But. Just. Wow.
It's funny how she says that the blues let's you be yourself because when sings - like all UK blues singers - she adopts an American accent. Is that " being yourself"?
Bonamassa when shopping with you, for an Albert Collins for you, you found one at a good price, and he kept it ... ?! That's a bit of a dick-move ... ... :/
Michele C-F Aa have you; either humorless, and/or very judgmental over a bit of YT banter ... It’s all good; I’m sure he needed another guitar more than she did ... ...
Albert Collins played the same 5 frets his whole career.....boring as fuck....this is just my opinion...he was so overated...sure he had talent but very very narrow set of skills....for my taste....Bonamassa is a much better guitarist and I dont like him that much either.....lol.....I do love seeing a chick playing blues...Anna,samatha and this girl are keeping the blues going....great stuff
Independently of her skill, she makes her playing look too difficult. Like if it is really hard for her to play.... Don't know. I dont like that sensation
Joe Pollard well... if that's what you would do, you can think that of me. Where is the critic on my comment? Do you understand the "independently of her skill..." part? So now you are making yourself feel better by writing that comment to me. Think about it. Mine is just a personal observation. So... one really projects himself by the writing he does. Just to make this sink on you,..... I am absolutely unable to to solo guitar. I can't play leads. Am ok with that. How can my comment serve your supposed purpose? Relax and enjoy
I agree with Ces. There's something about it that feels strained. I think she needs to slow down, find all the soul she can, focus on rhythm and syncopation and realize she doesn't have to prove herself anymore - and just play. Maybe a tour with Lee Roy Parnell would help. ua-cam.com/video/hos39vQeXsk/v-deo.html
Her tone and chops are impeccable
One je ,Bohovká +muzikálna .

She’s awesome! Go see her live you will not be disappointed
My #1 on my want list is to go see Joanne shaw taylor live. She is the best female guitarist and add her raspy voice to it, she rocks!!!
I saw Joanne a few months ago. I love her enjoyment of what she does. Great band, I hope she does move to Nashville.
Love her voice and her playing is awesome... Brand new fan!!
Man that Tele sounds great. She's got some nice chops too.
Well after 58 years on the axes, l got a new love and an accent....damn impressed... gonna follow you girl.
Dying to see her for the first time next month. So smooth!!
Best interview ever she's awsome. ...
Beautiful and talented

A GREAT guitarist!
Awesome player hope she gets the recognotion she deserves.
Love her style and approach to playing and gear. Fabulous.
Joanne is an amazing Guitarist..Seen Her Live four Times Over The Last Year and each time She just left me Speechless ...Long May She Run.
Saw her at Harpenden last week! She did a scorching set. Superb! For me? Foremost Brit blues singer/guitarist for me. Her support band were also top notch!
Hey Jo! Glad you have gone back to Teles, Looking forward to the new album. Keep on Rockin in the Free World Honey!
Brilliant guitarist. Love you JST x
When is JST returning to Dublin Ireland?

Great blues voice & guitar skills!
Wow I just found you, unbelievable, you and your beautiful tele are gorgeous and amazing to listen to !!!
Damn... she is fast!!!!
That guitar is beautiful! Love the lining or whatever that’s called.
Binding
The syndicated "Blues Deluxe" radio show brought me here.
Je krásne ,že si J. Si obdivuhodne muzikálna . Tvoja DNA je skvelá,tak skús aj malú J.
very very cool💕 from Japan❣️
What a great shredder.
Love it!
that tele! the run at 306 sounds like early Garcia. i can dig it!
I have the one Bonamassa had!
In the studio I bet the producer can take her first-take punch-in overdubs all the way to the bank! 👌🏻
The ghost of SRV smiles softly
Christian K. BB King smiles more because she uses the same pentatonic box BB uses. SRV played with much more complexity and was all over the guitarneck.
Great stuff. On the finger stuff, you can still see the classical technique.
So difficult with fingers...awesome playing!!!
Great!
Nice ... Good thoughts on the simple pedal board. Just getting to the sound you want/need is the difficult part. Two TS's seems a fun idea all of a sudden mind! Cheers!
SRV used 2 TS's .
I didn't know that Todd, thanks :o)
Trey Anastasio does as well!
1:29 the american hard R comes out when she says "years"
Just noticed how frequently and accurately she's using her pinky; as a complete hack player that has blown me away.
Nice
Kool Tele...😎
Definitely one of the fastest guitar players I've ever seen
Great sound!
Keep 'em peeled.
Thanks for that Jo.No rock star pretensions here, just stuff we want to know. The pedals are tools of the trade, you still have to be able to play the thing in the first place and no amount of pedals will change that.See you in October.😊😊😊
Listened to a vid of you playing an ancient Paul with P90's. Story time?!
Yup. I'm in love.
💖
I had to check if playback speed was on 1 lol
Hallelujah.
For the love of God we shall hear some bad ass shit.
Play on
Very cute and talented
double binding, no belly cut, and 5 screw pickguards should be the only way teles are made. 2/3 aint bad. love it.
she reminds me of Janis Joplin..with an ax
I agree... I first heard about her two months ago and I'm hooked! She's definitely got that Janis Joplin sound to her voice and she's awesome on guitar! 😎👍
Yes! Girl can play!
What band is she in?!?
ReserveForTwelve, She has her own band
She IS the band
THAT TELE
And blues for "old men" and everyone else will still be going strong long after the current lightweight fluff is gone
But. Just. Wow.
No need to be like a angry teacher vibe, damn girl lighten up enjoy your life
Strange that she actually pronounces her r's sometimes.
Shes definitely got a West Country twang there
That's what I thought but she's a Brummy. Did she move out the Somerset?
Twobe screamers?
No John Martyn reference? She does a great JM.
SIMPLE - DO YOU WANT TO BE A GUITAR PLAYER - OR PEDAL PLAYER
It's funny how she says that the blues let's you be yourself because when sings - like all UK blues singers - she adopts an American accent. Is that " being yourself"?
She’s lived in the States most of her adult life
She's ALWAYS sound American. Again. it's phoney nonsense. If nothing else, the blues is about the truth, and Joanne is not true.
Shes hot on that guitar!
No nonsense pedal board. Love supers.
Funny AC rarely used the bucker
I didn't know tracy ullman played guitar...
Starts off calling her dad a "wannabe guitar player"
Stay classy San Diego.
Probably what he calls himself
Bonamassa when shopping with you, for an Albert Collins for you, you found one at a good price, and he kept it ... ?!
That's a bit of a dick-move ... ... :/
Maybe she coukdnt get it at price she could afford/work in? Joe is a great guy.
Michele C-F
Oh, you’ve lived with him? For how long?
@@kierenmoore3236 I have been friends with him for years. You however have just proven what sort of person you are behind that keyboard.
Michele C-F
Aa have you; either humorless, and/or very judgmental over a bit of YT banter ...

She looks old and tired
No picks???? Oh my
... She's using a pick.
It looks like she uses a red Jazz iii
Have you heard of a guitarist called Jeff Beck? Rumour has it he's rather good and he doesn't use picks at all!
@@cliffwheeler7357 derek trucks?
Better than samantha fish.
And Samantha is not too shabby either but fully agree Joanne rocks.
Independently of her skill, she makes her playing look too difficult. Like if it is really hard for her to play.... Don't know. I dont like that sensation
Ces McMyth Eh, classical musicians be like
Ces McMyth Reaching desperately for something to criticise to make yourself feel better, no one's fooled fam.

I saw that, too. But, as long as she gets it done like that...
why?
Is she married?

1:29 the american hard R comes out when she says "years"
That's actually a Somerset, West Country, R. Not sure where she got it as I thought she was a Brummy.
Doesn't sound Brummy at all.
