- Video games have offered up some amazing cities over the years. From vibrant, futuristic metropolises to dingy, backwater burgs, these places can act as safe havens, or could be more dangerous than the wilderness that surrounds them, and for this video, we've decided to celebrate some of the best. From Mass Effect's Citadel to Baldur's Gate here are the 10 Coolest Cities in Video Games.

Saint Denis is a gorgeous homage to southern America French architecture.
The whole RDR2 game is a beauty.
Kamurocho is my personal favorite, it keeps evolving, I sometime feel like a old man in Yakuza 6 going : There use to be a store here, and this or that there
The city of Glass from Mirrors Edge was beautiful
People said that the sequel of it, also has a beautiful futuristic dystopian atmosphere in it.
I haven't checked it out yet but I will one day and won't be disappointed.
Torment needs more shoutouts... Sigil is a very worthy choice!
"Vegas via Tibet charm"
I think you'll find that place is called Macau.
City of Columbia from Bio Shock Infinite is still my favorite video game City!
My favorite location in the game. 👍👍
My favorite city was the Elvaan home of San d'Oria in Final Fantasy XI. I loved when the trees would turn into pink cherry trees with falling blossoms on the holidays.
As I was watching this and not seeing Rapture, I was like "it better be on here." I was not disappointed. Such a beautiful, claustrophobic city.
It is beautiful, as I also love the floating city of Columbia from BioShock Infinite.
Can’t believe haven city from jak and Dexter isn’t here that city felt so alive
I wanted to see that in the video too, but I'm sure they'll mention it one day and bring back the attention of it. 🎮💞🖤
This was a great list! Loved Gravity Rush on Vita. Underrated Gem . And Rapture was such an amazing place to explore. Horrifying, but amazing.
I haven't played it yet, but I did got it and the sequel on the PlayStation 4.
And when I saw a video of what the town looks like, it looked quite beautiful and gave me the vibe as it was straight out of The Fifth Element (one of my all-time favorites!)
Thank you very much for adding both Sigil and Baldur's Gate!
.....and the latter will be back in full force at the end of August.
10 Classic Videogame Characters We've All had a crush on
Panam Palmer
Serrana
Candy Kong
Garrus Vakarian
Vaas Montenegro
Thats half the list right there.
@@se7endeadly418Serana is the third most annoying character in Skyrim, behind Heimskr and Nazeem. All she does is complain and resurrect chickens...
The spaceship from Asteroids!
Top 10 video games I would bang
Blaze, cloud, zack, Jowy and flick.
Great video! I would add Rabanastre from FF 12. Best town music ever and extremely natural architecture and layout for a fantasy game. Karnaca from Dishonored 2 is also amazing, superb design and jawdroping views.
I liked Arcadia
I think Bioshock Infinite's Columbia should have shared #1 spot alongside Rapture. Not only are they closely tied together lore wise, they are the ying and the yang, completely opposite in design and function (one being a dark and underwater city and the other being an airborne wonderland) but equally beautiful
Great to see Gravity Rush 2 getting some attention. Most underrated game on PS4. Wish it got a sequel!
tripleJump is becoming one of my favorite gaming channels!
So glad to see Sigil on here!
I'm currently replaying BGEE and have just arrived in Baldur's Gate, so nice to see that here.
However, my main takeaway from this video is of several other games on my backlog I really need to get back to.
That's where you're wrong Ashton! I live in a town!
Good choices, though I would have squeezed Yharnam in there. Masterclass in city design for a game in art direction, story, and traversal.
Fear the old blood.
I just recently hopped back into Night City......and I can't help but love it, even after my 5th visit.😉
I have to add Arx to the list. I'm playing through DOS2 right now and the city feels so real and alive, it's a real joy to explore. As nice as Night City is, there's something to be said for games where the city is only a small part of the whole map. So yeah, Novigrad was an obvious first choice, and Saint Denis definitely deserves a mention as well.
Novigrad dead last? It's easily one of my all time favorites
Sumaru City from Persona 2. Just a wild city where just about anything seems to be able to happen, and thats before rumors start to become real.
There is also The City from Project Moon's various games which perhaps takes the cake as the city you absolutley don't want to live in.
Aw yeah! Og Sumaru is creepy and so cool! Great taste.
Goldpaw from Ni No Kuni II? Haven't played it yet but the city's atmosphere looks great and amazing! 🎮
Night City from Cyberpunk 2077? Love it! 👍
The Citadel from Mass Effect? Same thing with Goldpaw. 🎮
Jirga Para Gravity Rush 2? Love it! 👍
Rapture from BioShock? Love it! 👍
Kamourocho from Yakuza should of been high up on this list.
This
Should have*
Us Yakuza fans often deal with our beloved games being overlooked☹️
Kamurocho is a district of Yakuza's Tokyo.
How you could not mention Yharnam is a mystery that will forever elude me.
No Saint Denis from RDR2?
Yo guys!
Where's Morthal?
Where's the Republic of Dave????
I also love vampire love triangles and swamps myself
I personally much prefer the sort of steampunk pig city called Hamelin in Ni No Kuni 1 to Goldpaw. It has phenomenal art design due to Ghibli's direct involvement, and the music is sooooo much better. After about five minutes in Goldpaw I want to shove wax in my ear canals. Cool design, but Hamelin is *chef's kiss*
Gravity Rush has two of the best cities hands down though, 100% agree with that one. Zipping around as Kat never gets old, those games deserve way more attention than they get. That being said, she was in Playstation All Stars years ago and does get some amount of promotion from Sony as a character.
Sigil. Surprised to see it here
I wish there were at least one city from the Xenoblade series on the list... My vote is for Alcamoth, with its breathtaking vistas (specially during nights with shooting stars) and the fact it [[spoiler]], making it truly unforgettable.
Neo City looked really cool, until Red Falcon blew it to pieces in Contra 3:The Alien Wars.
Good list but I’d also add Limsa Lominsa from ffxiv is pretty special when walking through the town centre when players are putting on a concert
Tokyo in anything smt or persona is always good too
Denerim from dragon age origins (Kirkwall is pretty good too)
Goldenrod celadon virbank and nimbasa from Pokémon are great
Rome and Florence from the assassins creed 2s
Vice city and los santos (san Andreas)
Kingdoms are probably considered different than cities, and will most likely get their own list. (Although Triple Jump may have done it already. If so, thanks in advance!) That being said, I would have suggested Zeal from "Chrono Trigger," except that it's technically a kingdom, and not a city.
Vice City?
"Sigil" => pronunce "sidjil" ;) (it's an actual word, it means "seal" - the sign, not the animal)
Some might even consider Gravity Rush 2 as a wildcard entry 🎉
Have you thought of a list about pks
Yharnam from Bloodborne is top 5, at least.
Novigrad should have been number 1.
I was hoping Rapture would top the list
Blimey, this could be decidly controversial. Head down Ashton 👍😁
Silent hill and raccoon city?
5 cities that come to my mind:
Luca - Final Fantasy X: The only technologically advanced safe place in the world that isn't ruled by corruption, giant Blitzball stadium, giant music and arts theatre. Alternatively, Guadosalam once certain politicians are no longer involved. The city's not great, but it has a literal doorway to the closest thing the world has to seeing your loved ones in heaven.
Driftveil City - Pokemon Black 2/White 2: Live Pokemon battles from competitors all over the world. A Pokemon gym. Local historic ruins. One road away from a city that's exclusively the best parts of Manhattan (Nimbasa). One road away from a special magnetic cave that's practically a world wonder (Chargestone). One of the most beloved city theme music tracks in the entire series.
Waral - Shining Force: An atoll of livable islands that also has a mermaid city below that, and a historic glowing cave of mysteries below that. And the king is fun and has a sense of humor.
Any amusement themed zone - Sonic the Hedgehog: Take your pick of Aquarium Park, Toy Kingdom, Music Plant, Eggmanland, any of the casino zones... If you can pus aside the logistical and ethical issues of Eggman getting his way, it's nonstop fun (mostly for him). Alternatively, Angel Island has Carnival Night zone, but also Hydro City, Marble Gardens, etc.
Literally anywhere - Wipeout/F-Zero: Futuristic cities with anti-gravity racing league tracks built into them. Some of which are on the moon or other planets.
You clearly live in your parents basement, have never had a woman or see much sunlight. Maybe you should try going outside once and a while, interact with humans being, hmmmm? What do you say? 😂
@@conradrowe2903 God DAMN you're butthurt. It's kinda sad, really.
But since you've made apparent elsewhere that you haven't gotten outside much yourself, here's some other interesting things you can do, in real world cities, besides crime and cars:
Dubai: Day safari
Tokyo: Miraikan
Auckland: Glowworm caves
Melbourne: ACDC Lane
Paris: Versailles
DC: Millennium Stage
London: Garage/EDM clubs
Seville: Flamenco lessons
So quit projecting, grow up a bit, and get out into the real world yourself.
@@conradrowe2903 Your comment popped into my mind randomly for a laugh. You should feel proud to have said something so memorably stupid.
Two of my pics PS2 GTA San Andreas, Mirrors Edge Catalyst,
San Andreas isn't a city though
@@kenlykkeslett7501 No its 3 cities all with something fun to do in each one its one of the few GTA games where the city does not feel static and just there
@@tec5x5 I agree with that. I like Los Santos best though, with Las Venturas close behind.
Perhaps getting gold at the driving school ruined San Fierro for me 😛
Diamond City
Sigil as an actual word and is pronounced "sidjil" or thereabouts, not "sigill"
those ariel view games arent real cities, 1st or 3rd person games only
I live in a city!!! 😃
The coolest video game city was the one I made in Cities: Skylines.
tokio in jet set readio future
No Yharnam? Pssh, wuss.
Columbia is better than Rapture.
no way
Man most of the cities on this list are shit. What happened to Vice City, Green Hills Zone, The City (Street of Rage), all the classics. It seems that this list is restricted to more recent games. Hardly the coolest ever considering the majority of them were dark.
Vice CIty and The City aren't particularly different from real world cities.
Green Hill Zone isn't a city.
No grand theft auto games?? Really? What kind of a list is this??
👽
10 of the creepiest video comments (see above and/or below)
Dreadful list.
No Los Santos (GTA V)
No Vice City ( one of the OG’s)
No The Ascent
No Paradise City ( Burnout Paradise)
No Crackdown
No Midnight Club LA
No Sleeping Dogs
The list gone on.
This was just a list of RPG games
And no haven city from jak and daxter
@@therunawaykid6523 Another great example 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It’s a pretty good list but your pics are really good too
Aren't most of the games you listed just real life cities or based on them? What's "cool" about them outside of a lack of real life consequences for your actions?
@@wanderlustwarrior only one that is semi real life as far as I know is GTA V which is LA and other parts of California
Pretty sure most popular doesn't mean what you think it means FF 14 has dethroned WoW, in popularity and player base, so yeah get your s right.
Read the title again you oaf.
