Thanks Layard...after reading all the warnings about removing without power I came across your little gem of a video. Worked great. The tape was bound up inside which was the cause of the problem. I carefully extracted the tape and cassette and all was fine. Thanks again!!
Thanks a ton, was doing a media conversion project for my parents. This same camcorder jammed the head cleaner tape inside; you saved me disassembling the entire thing.
@user-bh4fq1hq9m Yeah there's a silver switch that you have to push down, I had to push down pretty hard to get it to open. Even though I was able to open it, I still got an error message on the screen. I have to find a place that fixes cameras to fix it.
Thanks! Mine couldnt eject because there was an eaten tape inside thats probably been in there for 15 years. No choice but to cut the tape, but at least I fixed my parents' camcorder! My model is a gr-sxm515u.

I couldn't open the lock first then I wiggled the section for a bit, it popped open! Thank you.
