It's hard to watch and listen to this and not see and hear some phenominal talent. Having marched with a National Championship Junior drum corps in New Jersey in the snare line in the early to mid 1960's I can say with some first hand experience that sadly this is NOT drum corps. Drum corps does not have stage show dancing or big signs on the field or ten or more Vibes on the sidelines or music you mostly can't remember as soon as they stop playing it! And missing for sure is the color guard and the color presentation. I suppose everything changes over time. But it is truly sad that nowadays a young kid with little or no experience playing a horn or a drum and without a music degree and a lot of money cannot join a feeder corps in a nearby town, be taught how to play and often how to read music and march while playing and with a lot of practice and desire find him or herself in the ranks of a top of the line drum corps. That was me and they were some of the absolute best days of my life!!!!!
Sad. No wonder I quit attending DC in 2000. Didn’t think it could get worse, but little did I know it could sink this far. Caballerro’s used to give you chills by you just knowing they were present for the competition. Weelll, that’s not the case now. Only chill you’ll get is if you forget to pull your blanket over your head when you drift of to nappy land.
Very enjoyable. Good show and good performance!
Kid you not what ever the score what ever place this drum corps comes in the legend the Hawthorne cabs says it all

Totally agree
Give me the Jim Russo cabs!!
These kids are getting the same experience as you in the 60's and me in the 70's. Performances are different these days...flasher. It's ok.
