I’ll show you what balloons I used, how many of each I used, how I created this balloon garland and then how I hung and installed it in this outdoor environment. As usual, I’ll pass on a few of my favorite tips and tricks along the way so if you’re looking for a fun DIY balloon garland tutorial, let’s go!
Not so long ago, I was back in my native homeland of Florida, and made this beautiful balloon garland for a friend of mine who had just moved cross country to be there, and this was kind of my “welcome to Florida” creation for her. It’s beach-themed, incorporating colors of the sand, water, and waves. It blew her away, and it’s one of my faves to date. I hope you love it!

We're hoping to do a garland for a graduation in a few weeks outdoors in Texas. Do you think it would last for an event from 3pm to 9pm with no direct sun? Fingers crossed!
Thank you! If you use professional balloons and it is lucky enough to be in the shade, I think it’ll be okay! I did a couple videos documenting an outdoor test I did on different brands and honestly some of them lasted ages! Best of luck to you 🤞🏻🎈🫧

My question is Regarding your clusters.. it seems like there are clusters of six why did you choose clusters of six as opposed to clusters of eight can you explain is there a difference? 😊
How long will the balloons last? Can I make the garland a few days before the event or does it have to be day of? This is gorgeous, you are so talented and make it look so easy…thank you for sharing
Hi Lorna, thank you so much for the kind words! Usually they can be done a day or more ahead of time, but I always recommend you test it by inflating a few of the ones you'll be using to see how they age and have confidence how they'll do for you!

Rachel, love your videos! Wondering - do you have a preference between using strips, fishing lines or no strip or lines when creating your garlands? I prefer using nothing, but didn't know if you've found different situations warrant a different approach. TIA!
Hey Candice! Thanks for the kind words! I tend to prefer nothing (on good balloons like Kalisan) or 260s, like what is featured in my video on the fastest balloon garland ever, but I do like fishing line in some scenarios (like this one!). : )

What kind of hook brand do you used on walls?

Hey Rocio! I know what you mean. I often use Command hooks, and I have a few different videos sharing tips on using those successfully. With this creation, I was lucky enough that the gazebo was metallic and magnetic so I could use Clik Clik magnets which was MAGICAL! I will have a video coming out on those at some point... : )

Do you have any small tips on how to keep those balloons from popping in this Florida heat? I know underinflating is a must! Lol But do you recommend anything else to go along with that? Thank you!! 🤍🥂
Hey Katie!! Ughhhhh, the bane of my existence. But yes, using professional grade balloons like Qualatex, then double stuffing, keeping them OUT OF THE SUN, and then waiting until the last possible second to bring them outside are my best tips. Best of luck!!!

Hey Draya, in the outdoors in Florida, no balloon stays shiny or glossy without HiShine or a similar shine spray. ☀

how do you transport your garlands? making one for a prom but do not want to have to do it all on location..
Hey Amy! A lot of artists rent like a Uhaul truck? I have always made do with my SUV, usually by inflating as much as I can fit in the car offsite and doing the rest onsite.

How do you transport your balloons?
Hey Heidi! I have an SUV, so I usually pack it out with as much as possible, usually clusters, plus my suitcase of all of my supplies & tools, then I finish installation on site. I know some artists either have huge trucks or rent them from places like Uhaul. And other times (like this creation) I do the entire creation on-site.
