Thanks Andy for the EASY intro tutorial! I downloaded and followed along my track session from last weekend so much appreciated!

Thanks for the crash course. Great information. Just got an AIM Solo 2 and tested it out this weekend. Hope to see you on track soon.

Awesome. I think it is certainly helpful. I'll be at the track the next 2 if not 3 weekends so I'm sure we'll cross paths.

Thank you for the video on data analysis. Just for reference this is Aim Solo2 not Aim Solo2 DL?

Thanks and yes, this is the just the 2 and not the DL. But the post-processing in Race Studio should be pretty much the same.

I am an actual tech dummy. Trying to deal with "tech" stuff is definitely one
of my biggest challenges. I recently invested in an AIM SOLO 2 because I am
very interested in looking at the data to improve my riding on the track. Using
the lap times is a help for sure but, I would love to dig in a lot deeper into the
data like you are showing. Unfortunately I use Macbook Pro and I would have
to "jump through all kinds of tech hoops"(spend lots more money on updating
software🤦🏻‍♂) to have the ability to access the data from my AIM device. I sure
hope AIM comes out with an update soon the will work with the Mac.
Thanks for the video and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍

Awesome that you're diving into the data. I have heard of others who have issues with RS3 on the Apple products. I'll mention that to the person I know who works for AIM. Hope that all gets straightened out.

@@NHlocal now I remember. It is a royal PITA to setup RS3 with MacOS. Here's an article I believe to be legit on how to do it.

It may be easier to just buy a used functional Windows laptop ;)

Andy-you’ve officially sold me on buying an AIM Solo 2! Now, how do you access the throttle and brake pressure without getting the DL version, or would you suggest that I buy the Solo 2 DL over the Solo 2? We met briefly at Barber I believe, but I’m a slow guy just starting to get into racing on an MT-10. Thanks in advance!

Glad this is helpful. I do not get a commission from AIM, hahaha. Anyway, you cannot access any of the bike performance without the DL. The non-DL simply attaches to the bike without an electronics connection to the bike. It reads all of the dynamic bike information via GPS.
The DL version has some type of harness that connects somewhere - possibly the ECU to read and record that data along with the dynamic (velocity, acceleration) data. For me the basic non-DL data is fine. The DL information would be nice but that can sometimes overwhelm you with data. Your call whether it is worth it or not.

@ very much appreciate your input! In the video you mentioned seeing when you get on the gas-are you using the G forces as reference in place of TPS and, if so, do you believe it’s sufficient as it’s really only about $300 difference between the DL and standard? From the reference point of someone about 4 levels below you in riding ability (my first trip to Barber I ran 1:50 and JGP my PB is 1:28 FWIW). Thanks in advance!

@@VState60 w/re getting on the gas, I'm purely looking at the speed increase from one lap to the other. I've used some of the other channels available, but have not found many useful. AIM's core market is the car segment. So many of the vehicle dynamics measurements are around that platform and they dont translate as well to two wheels. It sounds like you really want to dig in to the data. If so, then go for the DL.

Thanks for this Andy...took me quite a while to figure out just half of this stuff on my own! One question: can you you isolate the "Best Theoretical Lap" from the split times report to use as a reference lap with which to compare your actual laps?

    • @palerider6611
      @palerider6611  Рік тому +1

That's a good question but I dont know how you could re-construct the best theoretical into a lap to compare against the others. You (or the software) would have to go through each best sector and compile the speed data. Now I think you can modify how it defines the sector of a lap. Like Barber for example, has >10 'sectors'. That may make some comparisons easier. Anyway, glad you found the rest of the video useful.

Funny you mention that. I have your lap timer from Tim sitting in my garage. I'll bring it Friday. I'd say download race studio 3, install it and then I can help walk you through the setup if needed.
