At Chicago NAD Conference

- Alex: Hello from Chicago! I’m at the NAD Conference. Tuesday night is the opening ceremony. I will cover that. Today (Monday) was still pretty busy. There was a Council of Representatives meeting. It consisted of different delegates from various state associations of the Deaf and NAD affiliate organizations.
I entered the COR and saw the NAD President Jenny Buechner leading the meeting. I also saw the NAD Interim CEO Bobbie Beth Scoggins. There are also two different organizations here that are not directly a part of NAD but is working closely with them - the NASADHH, which is made up of various states’ government organizations that serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. They had a meeting yesterday and today. The other is the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD). Their board flew all over from the world to be here this week.
As I walked around, of course, it was hard for me to get through the hotel lobby. Because I was bumping into people and catching up on where we’ve been all those years. It took me two hours to walk through.

(Alex is in an elevator lobby). Of course, Deaf Bing is when I have to look around the elevators to see which one has a light on. I have to turn my head around like an owl.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, I will go to several workshops, see a few presentations, and check out different exhibitors. I will share in tomorrow’s update. That’s all for today at the NAD Conference in Chicago.

Understand deaf world welcome to Nad for meeting nad no power authority and hearing people ceo power authority than nad..nad can't afford pay lawyers because ceo hearing people own companies who rich afford .ore expensive pay lawyers..example : PA , NJ , Florida, other state of state unwelcome interpret help deaf people communicate in hospitals, doctors , some lawyers too and refuse pay expensive for interpret sign language ...all ceo companies accept cheap pay for VRI interpret but lots plm poor internet freeze...bec board retired and new board community change support strong ceo companies afford more expensive pay lawyers beat Nad, fad nothing and wash, D.C capitol hall congress can't control state of state must accept pay really person interpret mire than VRI. Thousands deaf people not happy. Don't have ADA attorneys? Not hearing attorneys but try deaf/hearing attorneys as challenging with interpreters same time, not easy...
@j.l.5935 Ada attorneys no power because must expensive pay lawyers not cheap because ceo companies, hospital can afford more expensive pay lawyers, nothing help interpret, all ceo companies, hospital accept cheap pay VRI for interpret deaf. Worse hospital, doctors VRI..I don't like VRI always freezing plm internet status.. same nothing help super bowl 🏈 suppose deaf stand si g but TV companies not care just read caption language that it.
