    Field Day Presents inventor Bob Partington to a new audience, you guys! Bob is an inventor, director and TV personality, you’ve probably seen some of his work in commercials but never knew it was him. So we wanted to spotlight his unique genius in one of his first big forays into UA-cam. See as Bob brings together some classically slow moving things, like grass growing and a turtle crossing the finish line, to create the slowest Rube Goldberg machine ever. What starts as a simple mini golf putt takes a hilariously turn, and an insanely long time to get to the hole, set to the epic beats of Kayne West’s “Drive Slow”!
    Field Day is a place to meet and see UA-cam’s most inspired filmmakers, dynamic entertainers, and exciting personalities. Each week, one of these inspired creators tries something new and creates their own unique, imaginative, dream video. Whether they’re investigating far-off places, dancing with remote control cars, or stunt flying with Star Fox, you won’t want to miss these creators #HaveAFieldDay

    All of that bootiful chain reaction just for a nootmare of not getting into the hole in the ground.

    • @chase_like_the_bank
      @chase_like_the_bank 8 років тому +1

      +Ben Gardner I very much doubt that. How did those popsicles stay solid for months, then suddenly melt?

    • @bengardner8639
      @bengardner8639 8 років тому

      +chasenallimcam they put the popsicles in later, but they never stopped the ball. It was still one take.

    • @chase_like_the_bank
      @chase_like_the_bank 8 років тому +1

      +Ben Gardner You think the turtle was in exactly the right spot on the first take? Or that the turtle catapult thing worked perfectly on the first try?That seems very unlikely.
      Rube Goldbergs take many attempts to get right usually, so it seems a little dubious that all of these things went flawlessly on the first try.

    • @StukaJU87C
      @StukaJU87C 8 років тому +2

      +chasenallimcam It was pretty obvious that the fast majority of the time was spent growing the grass. The first portion, while it likely took a while, would only have been a small fraction of the time necessary.
      Also you would expect they would test every aspect individually before trying to put it together, ie. the catapult. They simply added the turtle and Popsicles when the ball hit a certain point

    Very cool! I am a bit sceptical, though, as I feel like these weren't all chain reactions, which I do like in such machines. I mean, some of the things also would've happened without the ball rolling.
    Still though: very unique concepts, I love it!

    • @DanielSultana
      @DanielSultana 8 років тому

      +supermariobrosdeluxe each process could have had a switch to it, say the popsicles could have had a freezer build around them that gets switched off, the tortoise could have had a gate that opens with a switch, and so on, so i kinda except the for simplicity he skipped the stuff

    • @joeyservo

    I thought it was bullshit and crap. Because a Rube goldberg with 5000 cuts is not a rube goldberg, you could have just done 2000 takes of each one. They are supposed to be completed in one run not 10 000 runs.

    • @zer0bre
      @zer0bre 8 років тому +4

      +spoofer20 How do you know it wasn't done in one run?

    • @anonbattery1084
      @anonbattery1084 8 років тому +8

      +Daniel Z The popsicles would have melted before the molasses carried the ball to that portion. The grass also would have already started growing by the time the ball reached them. Still impressive nonetheless. Although I highly doubt all the time lapse shots didn't include them stopping to make sure everything looked like it worked perfectly

    • @theintrostealer
      @theintrostealer 8 років тому +1

      +spoofer20 Do you know how much storage it would take to do it in one shot?
      That's totally insane. That's 6+ weeks of full HD footage...

    • @Zzerriryl2827
      @Zzerriryl2827 8 років тому +5

      +spoofer20 it doesn't really matter how many cuts there were when it all boils down to the fact that this is not a Rube Goldberg machine in the first place.

  • @diduknowthat
    @diduknowthat 8 років тому +6

    It's cool but it's not really a Rube Goldberg machine. The syrup was not automatically triggered by the start, the turtle requires someone to keep it there at the beginning, the previous golf balls at the clock require placement, and nothing triggers the light to turn on to allow the grass to grow.

      +Evi1M4chine There's no hyphen in Rube Goldberg-- it's his full name, not two names spliced together. My grandfather was friends with Rube Goldberg. I used to have a big orange book signed by R.G. to my grandfather, but it just seemed to dissappear one day. I can't tell you how bummed I am about that ;(
      In any case, this is absolutely Rube Goldbergish. His cartoons were often not realistic, and often involved animals. See:

    So that molasses was already dripping and not activated by the golfball.
    The turtle somehow waiting patiently instead of already eating the bait.
    The ice just starting to melt instead of it being inside a refrigurator that is turned off by the golfball :)
    What happened to the other dozen colored balls?
    Nice video but it did not meet my expectations.
