    The Redaox did isn’t the first team to highlight this problem. This has been an issue for a while now. The Yankees have to make the right changes if they want to win a World Series.

    The problem with the Yankees is the mid to bottom of the lineup. Nobody else is hitting consistently besides volpe, Soto , judge & verdugo. Stanton is more off than on , gleyber is a mess , rizzo / dj seem to be at the take end of their careers.

    So nobody think that Stroman being slow to the plate was more of the issue? The Red Sox were timing up his delivery all game and getting great jumps. Jose has never been a defensive liability. Let’s give the guy some respect.

    • @NYYRecaps
      @NYYRecaps  10 днів тому +9

      They were 1000% stealing on Trevino and his pop time. Stroman was actually pretty quick to the plate.

    • @kevinfradette9773
      @kevinfradette9773 10 днів тому +2

      Also lemahieu was playing way too far off 3rd base. Credit Kyle Hudson the 3rd base coach. He would read Stroman and signal the runner by dropping his arm telling them when to steal live, kind of the same way a catcher drops his glove to signal a pick off. Trevino had no chance with these Jumps.

    • @erickoch9045
      @erickoch9045 10 днів тому +2

      And they stole on him once Stroman was out of the game as well. Don’t think Stroman was the problem, or even part of it. In fact Stroman was the only one that caught a player stealing:)

    Bulllpen struggles, prospects getting hurt/not getting the chance to come up, 5 batters in the lineup competing for the most strikeouts/popouts/double plays, over reliance on Judge and Soto, Gleyber defense, closer blowing saves occationally, and now stealing base problems. So many problems with no solutions in the near or far future. Gonna pray everyday Soto resigns with us this winter.

    If Baseball Reference is up to date for last night's game, they show Trevino as 5th in the league for catchers throwing out runners. Trevino is definitely known to have slow pop time and doesn't throw hard. However, part of the problem was Stroman. They were both a disaster.

    The bases loaded problem showed up twice during the Dodger series too. Now with Martian out, hopefully not for long, things have turned a little bit in the wrong direction.

    • @rigobertoalfonso6829
      @rigobertoalfonso6829 9 днів тому

      Martian wasn't playing this year anyway. The front office doesn't want to stir the pot with a new outfielder when the three in the outfield right now are playing so well. The only problem is if Judge or Soto goes down. That's when you need to start sounding the alarm. Look. It's two games. The Yankees ran into a young team with a lot of energy and nothing to lose.

    • @Lord_Bibulous
      @Lord_Bibulous 9 днів тому

      @@rigobertoalfonso6829 It's not just two games though. The Dodger series and some other games where they didn't sweep were in part because of lack of cashing in with RISP. It's baseball so obviously they won't win every series. But these issues are something to watch out for as the season progresses.
      And if Dominguez is healthy and this team is serious about winning a title then his bat has to be in the lineup. All or nothing.

      @@rigobertoalfonso6829 You're making my point for me. Without Soto the Yankees were lifeless. In Boston with Soto the bottom of the lineup was almost lifeless. Can't rely on the hitters #1-#4 all season.
      I say sit Stanton against righties and rotate the OF and DH spots amongst Judge, Martian, Verdugo & Soto. It's not ideal and Stanton hasn't even been the worst but unless one of these guys knows how to play first that's the only solution.

      @@Lord_Bibulous Your point is only valid is the Yankees are missing Soto. Look at the Yankees 1-9 versus the Orioles, who are seen as the deepest lineup in the baseball. There is an argument to be made that the Yankees are a little better 1-9. Look at the stats.

    3 spots. 2nd base, catcher and 1st base. Involved basically at some point, in every loss Yankees have had. Can't win all 162 but why lose because of the same 3 positions, on defense or offense and do nothing to correct any of those spots? Yes we can use a starter and a pen guy also.

  • @michaelkammerling1448
    @michaelkammerling1448 10 днів тому +5

    Derek...what about Stanton? His batting weaknesses are so apparent, though some pitchers still choose to throw him fast balls now and then. Yes he can be a dynamic offensive batter, but he seems SO VULNERABLE AT THE PLATE. Certainly not clutch anymore. And as far as our relief pitchers, few if any of them are consistent lately, so to conclude the team is starting to reveal significant weaknesses in several fronts. It is hard to be optimistic about the rest of the season at this point much less playoffs against the better teams and pitching staffs. MeeksLV

    Torres will not be back with the Yankees. Rizzo will have to be replaced. DJ has to be replaced. Stanton hasn't been that bad this season, but he is un-athletic now, always a threat at the plate, but so susceptible to sliders and curves, no quality pitcher come post-season will throw him a strike. Judge still has not adjusted to hit anything below his waist middle of the plate outside, he is on place to strike out 190-200 times this season. Good fielding catchers are a dime a dozen, finding a catcher who can hit and field well is the hard part, same for center-fielders.

    Catcher "framing," is so overrated. And it's cheating. The call is supposed to me made on how the ball crosses the plate, not where it ends up after the catcher yanks it up from his shoe tops to the middle of the plate. Thankfully this will be gone when we get robot umps.

    • @NYYRecaps
      @NYYRecaps  10 днів тому +2

      Catcher framing isn’t cheating; it’s a skill. The job of the catcher is to maximize the effectiveness of their pitcher and help their team. Framing is about subtle movements and presenting the pitch in the best possible light to the umpire. It's a part of the game’s strategy, much like a batter adjusting their stance to hit a certain pitch.
