Hey Miss Jen! Appreciate the video. You took me back to my childhood. Growing up on a farm was hard work but even as a kid, it was so enjoyable. Kids today think, how great everything is. They actually don't really know what great is. We made & grew everything. We grew field corn, oats & hay and made our own cattle & horse feed with a hammer mill ran by a '56 Chevy motor. We grew around 4 acres of sweet corn. Had a large family. But we'd take the sweet corn to Winebarger's Mill here in the mountains of NC and have meal ground on the spot. It's actually still in operation a today. Mostly a tourist thing now. We made our own butter, cheese, the milk and all thanks to our life giving cows. My Grandpaw would rob his bees for honey, not just to trade or sell, but for our sweet tooth's as well. ( Don't think that's actually a word 😁 it's just how we talk) Corn sticks plain were great with pinto beans and onions. Before we knew about Little Debby, there was my Little Grandmaw, & she'd coat them with the honey butter giving us a sweet & healthy snack. You took me back to memories I'd forgotten about & you made me smile. Thank you, I really appreciated the video! 👍
Nice! I'm from South Carolina and I'm telling you right now that you have got to try crackling cornbread baked in a cast iron skillet, it's absolutely delicious with a bowl of soup beans, crowder peas or chili and a couple pickled cayenne peppers and a spoon full of the pepper vinegar but you better have some Pepto on hand if you aren't used to the heat 😅 but it's so good it make you want to slap your grandma 🤣🤤 y'all hold it down up yander 👍🏻
Looks tasty! I'm from Mississippi, so I'll give you the good ole Southern seal of approval on this. Folks here get really upset if you add sugar to the batter but you did it just right!
I recently got a pan like this from my grandma and can't wait for cool weather to try it out! Likely with a big pot of chili simmered all day on the wood stove!
I baked cornbread for my father. Used sugar and real buttermilk. We are from Texas. My parents and I crumble the baked cornbread into a drinking glass and poured cold buttermilk over it. Like a dessert for us.
I never thought you being north had not tasted corn bread. There is nothing better than corn bread made in a cast iron skillet. Or the corn pans. I love cornbread. Never made in a corn pan. Just a skillet.
Yummy Jen!
❤❤❤

I'll have to try this. Sounds delicious!!
Never made them! I do make cornbread in a cast iron skillet. Best with chokecherry syrup!👍😎🇨🇦
I gave up on one of those pans because it stuck, too. I should have kept trying! Those look delicious ❤
Yes, lots of oil and preheat it to 450F. Works well.
cool
Looks tasty , Lol not allowed to eat it on Keto ,Keep practising now 😁
Thank you. Corn sticks and corn pones are more basic than southern cornbread.
What are corn pones? I'm curious.

I should try it in a skillet next. So delicious
@@TheWildYam another cornbread fan try with pinto beans. Nothing better than pinto beans and corn bread. A real southern staple.
