    Your major grip @23:14 about the profile not being accurate to the amp, when you turn up the gain on the unit, is part and parcel with the profiler/capture tech in general. They are snapshots of the signal chain. Kemper has the same problem. Both units TRY to extrapolate what turning up the gain will be like, but they will never be right. You have to have 2 presets, one with the amp dialed down, and one when you turn the gain up, and switch between them. OR, get a profile with higher gain, and use guitar volume.

    • @jayguitar
      @jayguitar  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey dude, yeah that’s what I have come to understand and thank you for the info btw. I do appreciate it. This is my first full on experience with a modeller and it’s been fantastic overall. It makes sense that it is just a snapshot. Hopefully in the future they can design a capture process where they can capture the behaviour as well - such as a set of sounds with gain at 1, the pin a second set with gain at 5, then gain at 10 and then amalgamate them into a single profile. I might email IK about that 🤔 Have an awesome day!

    • @justmehere6094
      @justmehere6094 4 місяці тому

      @@jayguitar Kemper added Liquid Profiling last year to their profilers. They still capture as they did, a snapshot, but they marry it with a modeled EQ stack from a real amp you select (3o some amps EQ stacks I believe). It's better, but still not 100% there. May never be. Could also do better, by having the user run the profile or capture process at various sweeps of each knob. But, then the process would take a LONG time.

    First, point out that the song is beautiful. It seems like a good tool to have a good library of sounds and amps. Of course, apart from those that you can record thanks to its software, it seems practical!!!!....In any case, the feeling of standing in front of a tube amp is so addictive that it will always be missed and I won't change it. for nothing. But I repeat, to work at home and have everything compact it will be fine

    I recently picked this up and the lTonex Max software it comes with it’s amazing but not just that , it seamlessly runs amplitube 5 max V2, Which happens to be on sale right now for NAMM. $99 bucks as compared to to like 400 normally. I’m set for a while, but this Tonex Pedal is a pain in the arse to get figured out. Then again I’m stubborn and always leave the manual till the last minute. This is not only a “modelling capture Pedal” but it’s also a full-fledged audio interface. And standalone unit.

    Game changing musicians vs. Game changing gear
    List out 10 in each category. Then, identify what gamechanger gear informed the work of the 10 musicians AND, whether the gear's influence has been greater than the musicians'.

    we question the loop because maybe in a studio recording dry and mixing effects in later is fine but in a live situation it just doesn't work the same. An effects loop would've made the pedal complete....huge miss if you ask me

    • @jayguitar
      @jayguitar  2 місяці тому +1

      Hey dude, I understand your point but I do disagree with it. The point I made in the video was that for live use effects can be put after the Tonex anyway and this would work whether you’re using it with the IR off - so amp, effects, then poweramp and cab - or if you use with the IR on, in which case you have the effects post amp and cab like you would in a studio, and then going to a PA or FRFR speaker. The effects would be even more clear that way because it would be like setting up your live rig like a studio rig. Either way, the effects work just as effectively (no pun intended) and I think this is a point that a lot of people are missing. There is no need for a loop in a unit like this - just go from the output to the delay, reverb and modulation effects and it sounds fantastic. Have a great day.

Even thought Tonex alwats you to turn off the CAB within that capture, its not the correct sound, only a simulation from Tonex of what the AMP ONLY sound might be with the CAB OFF. if you want to use your own IR´s in Tonex, use caputres that are real "AMP ONLY", which provide the real sound from the amp without any CAB.

    So it doesn't matter that it has no FX loop? Well then how do you use Preamp pedals, real preamp pedals that are meant to go into the FX loop not the front of the amp to avoid a preamp into a preamp which alot of times sounds like garbage. That is why genuine pre amp pedals go into the FX loop? 2nd it has a headphones out, Hmm cant hear any of my effects without an FX loop. There are other ways to use your headphones and effects but the quickest and easiest way is to provide an effects loop. I dont want to have to purchase or hook up other gear just to use headphones with my effects that defeats the purpose. So Yes it matters very much that it does not have an FX loop. I guarantee their next version has an FX loop otherwise I will never own one.

    • @jayguitar
      @jayguitar  4 місяці тому

      Hey dude,
      Personally to me it makes no difference if it has an FX loop because of my workflow and what I use it for. Besides, I must admit I don’t quite understand where you’re going with your point about preamp pedals. The TONEX is designed to do the same thing, i.e. emulate amps, so by design it is meant to be used with profiles rather than being a platform for preamps and preamp pedals. The profiles are of full amps - pre and power amps - not just power amps so preamps and those types of pedals might not be suitable for use with TONEX anyhow. Perhaps another unit would suit your needs better? Maybe just a power amp to plug the preamp pedals into - something like the Hotone Loudster? Anyways, have a great day.

    being playing with the pedal and settings for a couple of months now, After comparing it side by side with the Palladium pedal, the tonex sounds like a blanket is covering the CAB, I tried over 100 captures and even purchase a pack. I wanted to use it for live show and to keep my setup basic, but definitely its not for me. I guess if it goes thru monitors and FRFR speakers will perform fine, but on real CABs dont sound good. and yes I disabled the CABs and use anly amp DIs on the pedal.
