The soft pulsing is from our (Cryomech's) 4K Pulse Tube Refrigerator (PT415), nice to hear this sound at a company like IBM. We hear this sounds every day at work :) Music to my ears!
History is repeating ... In 50s, IBM was making big mainframe housed in a big room. 60 years later, IBM is now making another revolutionary quantum computer housed in a big room again. 60 years from now, we will have this technology in our daily life. I love to see it myself but .... am I still alive ? lol
Since quantum computers require sub-kelvin temperatures it might never be made small. But a phone in our pocket can rent quantum computer resources in the cloud. Problem solved.

more like the 50s if were talking in linear scaling. if 50qbits = 50 bits that is an astronomically tiny amount of data. 64mb = 64 million bytes. I don't think bits are even bytes.

This is a great video. And what's better, people in 100 years are going to get the biggest kick out of it. To all those with quantum implants in your brains in 2118, this is where it all began, and now you know that it sounded like Darth Vader swallowed a kazoo.
IBM ought to hire a world-renowned composer to transform these sounds into an avant-garde musical work of art. It's high time that scientific achievements like this be honored in music. Perhaps Quantum Computing will find applications in musical composition someday. Can you imagine a new "quantum" musical instrument making sounds yet unheard?

OK, it's a very impressive facility with some nicely harmonious sounding cooling systems... but could someone please get the quantum computer to *properly* synchronise with the old grandfather clock in the corner? That in-again, out-again double tick is driving me crazy! =:o}

How about creating and building infrastructure for operation of quantum computers in space where there is a colder heat sink ? Probably draws a lot of amps is anywhere quantum computer operates😆😎🫡

I was thinking the exact same thing

@Tarek701 That's right. We really don't know until there is a big need for miniaturization of the technology.
What will it be used for? Playing the match 3 games on the phone!
IBM is the only Computer company that created revolutionary machines twice, in the 50s and now in 2019

Exactly what I’m thinking. It’s interesting to me to think ahead and think back. The best time travelling we can do so far.
not really dude, quantum computers are really a different kind of technology, you cant but this into a desktop pc ^^ this is just not possible at all

Hi I
I was about to comment that it sounds like Valve's Half-Life.
You should release a 10 hour of IBM Q noise.
Yes, Thank You!
You like the sound of compressors? :-)
What?? 🤨
Oh good God, don’t do that!!!
“THis sounds like that frequency therapy that makes my brain crumble.”
IBM taking back their title again.
Welcome home IBM. I'm glad you guys returned from that long sleep.
