*This video shows how to repair your ps3 if it has the dreaded yellow light of death, without opening it up..*
How many minutes do you need to blow dry the PS3, and what do you put on top of the system?
T Mckinney its fake, he used a 20 gig ps3 at the start, you can tell as the white 'chrome' part of the ps3 ISN'T CHROME! But a White Matte Finish, while the 60 gig at the end shown has the chrome finish.
Just because they used two different consoles in the fixes, doesn't mean it is fake. Yes, there is the possibility that this is false and was staged, but it's also possible that they recorded multiple fixes and stitched together the best-recorded parts in post. This would account for the differences. Also, this technique makes sense - the cause of the YLOD is the CPU or video card coming loose when the system runs hot due to solder melting. The use of a hair dryer or heat gun to re-melt the solder while it is in a position for them to re-seat seems like a legitimate strategy for a fix.
In the video he indicates it is 20-30 minutes of heat, and that you use a towel (he specifies cotton, probably due to the low heat transfer) to help retain the heat.
I completely disagree, while reflowing Is a option it isn't viable. Of course the technique makes sense: Reflow or Reball. IMHO you NEED to reball. The 'hair dryer' method will more than likely damage your system than anything. But there are slim chances of this working. And as well, when ya spot a fake, ya spot a fake. if you legit want a reflow, don't do no silly hair dryer/towel shenanigans, be a good man and take it a apart the right way and grab a decent heat gun and heat the chips directly!
I put mine in the oven for bake 275 for 10 to 15 minutes and I put on the table for my thanksgiving meal and put potatoes all over it and put spices… IT WAS DELICIOUS

I know he uses two different systems in the video, but I tried this with my original PS3 fat boy and it worked like a charm. 20 minutes with a hair dryer and then I put it outside in the cooler fall weather for 20 minutes, brought it back inside and turned it on and it worked like a champ! THIS SOLUTION WORKS

My PS3 stopped working back in 2011. I held on to it though recently came across it in my parents closet where it’s been for the past decade collecting dust. I thought I’d search UA-cam to see if there was an easy fix and found this video. Tried it without expecting it to work, but it totally did!
Feels amazing bringing a PS3 back to life after 10 years of death. Wish this video existed back then. Would have saved myself the few hundred bucks replacing it.

@@quackpoppa Yeah it worked, but only for a few days. Then it went right back to having the same issue. I even took it completely apart and replaced the thermal paste, which gave it a few more days of life until it started having the issue again. I haven’t gone back to trying to fix it since then.

Thank you, dispite the fact that you switched consoles I did it and it actually works now! You are a lifesaver (Edit: it has stopped working multiple times now, but this trick has still fixed it. I would say though, if you plan on playing it a lot, you should just actually get it fixed or get a slim/super slim model)

This is a scam. In the first few seconds they use a silver trim PS3 phat and in the last few seconds they show a chrome.

Michael The Almond Boy it’s a scam because they switched out the broken unit with a working unit. They didn’t want to show that this “fix” doesn’t work so they just swapped units.

I glad I see in the comments in this video and a different one that people are saying they tried it and it worked it make me feel better about trying it. I saw one video where they are saying you have to take the whole PS3 apart to fix it I'm not willing to go that far but this method seem to work fine

Yes it worked for a few days than died again but I do the same method and it comes back to life every time this last time I did it my ps3 was working for a couple weeks it just died on me again today but I know I will bring it back again it work every time
So...we just don't care about all the plastic and wires that can melt? Also if you do it this way you're heating your entire console which is last thing you want to do as you're loosening up the solder on more than just the CPU and GPU.

I had to replace the thermal paste & pads. And tried this but for 40 min cause my blowdryer only goes up to 174 Fahrenheit. And IT WORKED THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. It's my little brothers birthday & his ps3 got the yellow light of death a few days ago.
Terrible idea! You will melt the solder of everything as well as cook your resistors and run a huge risk of two solder points becoming fused causing a crossed connection that could result in permanent damage to the system. Unfortunately the only way to fix this issue is to actually know what your doing. Do research. Don't treat what could be a paper cut by casting your whole arm, so to speak.

It just worked for me on a $25 ps3 I bought from eBay. I placed a towel over mine and blow dryed for 10 Mins and then used a rotating fan for 10 to cool down

I used to work at a computer repair shop and I did this to at least 3 PlayStations before and only one of them I had to try again before it worked. This video is not fake. It's likely due to thermal paste issues which the heat adjusts or something like that.

The Warp Zone Fan there are multiple ways but first, you need to know what is the problem it could be nec/tokin capasitors or a problem with gpu/cpu try finding some good videos and btw never throw out ur ps3/games/controllers/accesories

No, it worked really well with my PS3. It turned out great. After removing it from the oven, I put it on the table and served it with garlic roasted asparagus and some mashed potatoes mixed with butter and milk. I also took the PS3 drippings and made gravy with it. The meal was SO good.

Attention to all tolls who tries this method of fixing your PS3.
The reason your PS3 keep shutting of is because there is so much dust on your fan that stops air flow into the fan ,. Results of that the fan can't cool the cpu.
It happens instantly because there is no airflow on it.
If you use a hair dryer or heat gun those dust could catch fire.
You can either blow it with an air compressor without opening the console or you can open your console and dust it out with air or vacuum cleaner.
DO NOT USE HEAT SOURCE INTO YOUR SYSTEM WHEN IT HAS FULL OF DUST , IT IS A BIG FIRE HAZARD!!!

My friend had a ps3 that had the ylod and I had already taken it apart cleaned it out put new thermal compound on and replaced the psu. Nothing worked so I figured I would give this a shot and it actually fuckin worked.
