Hey Jazzy. Love your videos. I'm a trainee dental nurse, so here's some advice about TMJ. With regards to TMJ discuss the pain with your dentist. Bite guards can help with teeth grinding at night time and help reduce wear and tear to the teeth too. Usually TMJ is caused by stress or stressors, your dentist will discuss with you ways to manage it. That being said i dont think you will be out of the crisp eating game forever, so don't panic. Hope this helps 🙏 ☺ TMJ also stands for the joint in your jaw, temporomandibular joint.

There is lots of advice about managing TMJ on line, and minimising the pain including such things as physio, bite guards and all sorts. Your doctor should really be pointing you in the right direction on this

Yes! I suffer with tmj as well and daily messaging my jaw muscles and completely relaxing my face, wearing a night guard consistently, and finding new stress releases through my hands instead of clenching my jaw has been a lifesaver! I used to regularly have a locked jaw and now I only get a sore or tight jaw once in a while.

When you said "they look like cheese puffs but are turkey and stuffing", why did I think they were supposed to go in the oven and was immediately shook when you ate them "raw"? 😂😂 Fml how did I forget that crisps was a thing? 😂

TMJ pain, microwave heat pillows are incredibly helpful, also I find when one side flares up then lean your head over to the opposite site as it helps to take the pressure off and let’s it relax. It’s only a short term relief but it does help 😘

I had horrible TMJ for years until I realized I had a tongue tie (still) as an adult. I got revision surgery and no joke my TMJ is completely gone! I would definitely look into tongue ties in adults. It’s more common than you would think and there are tests you can do yourself to see if you have one.
Hopefully you can find out what’s causing it and find relief soon 💜

I was just commenting about my tmj and read your comment and it's so strange because my chiro mentioned this to me but I sort of dismissed it. She was looking in my mouth and thought I could possible have that but couldn't say for sure as it's just something she has started to learn about. How did it help you?

    • @RachaelShelburn
      @RachaelShelburn 2 роки тому

@@SarahTypes I would definitely look into it! For me it completely took away my TMJ pain that I had constantly. Chewing harder foods don’t bother me anymore and I can talk or read out loud for long periods of time without my tongue hurting or starting to lisp. And after I got the procedure my chiropractor noticed that all my muscles in my neck and shoulders were way looser and more relaxed. It honestly made a huge difference for me!

German here. Yes, Lebkuchen is a Christmas treat, sometimes they also sell them filled with jam, but I do prefer them without. I was diagnosed with TMJ in my late teens (mid-50's now). You are most likely having a flare-up. Remembering to wear a mouth guard at night and finding a RMT you can trust and relax with who can work the face, jaw, and neck muscles. Be aware of your jaw muscles and don't over work them.

I’m actually surprised to see so many people in the comments section that have TMJ. I also have it and Arthritis as well. My arthritis actually gives me more grief than my TMJ. I had to surgeries for my TMJ but it’s never really hurt before but limited my movement and how wide I could open my mouth. But it’s just really interesting to see that not only Jazzybum has it but so many others in the comments section. I never ever seem to come across anyone else that has it or arthritis. Sometimes I feel like the oddball misfit in my mid twenties that deals with TMJ and arthritis but it’s nice to see that I’m not alone.
Hope everyone who has it finds the necessary help and guidance they need. Living with illnesses isn’t fun nor easy. But at least learning how to live with it and manage the pain helps. Love you Jazzybum and hope you get back to enjoying your crisps very soon without so much pain!! Illnesses really do suck! But watching your fun videos always helps make each day a whole lot better!!

As a dentist i feel obligated to tell you to take it easy sweetie on your jaw especially since you have a TMJ problem ( thats Tempro-Mandibular Joint btw which is just the name of this joint) you should eat softer foods and nothing too hard or chop it into small bits so it wont pressure your jaw more and take smaller than usual bites, if the pain is too much your doctor should describe you a pain killer thats suitable for you and maybe a muscle relaxant too as it would also help reduce the pain. If whatever problem you have is caused by clenching your teeth together when youre in stressful situations for example try to be more aware of that and relax your jaw or if its when youre asleep the doctor should make u a night guard to wear its like the ones they put for people in boxing. But still consult your doctor so you would know whats best for your condition. Hope you feel well soon ❤

Hey Jazzy!❤️ I have TMD as well, I was diagnosed 8 years ago. My joint discs are completely worn out so it’s straight bone on bone 😫 I would survive basically with ibuprofen / painkillers / naproxen and then last year I got an Invisalign treatment. I wore trays 22h/24h and it helped A LOT since I couldn’t clench or snack as much! Now I have a tray that I’m wearing at night only and it helps also to reduce the pain. I am not waking up with jaw pain as much as I did because since I was in pain at night I clenched a lot during my sleep so the pain was unbearable when I got up. I am still having pain when I stress a lot. I cannot eat hard candies or even soft candies (gummy) and I can’t chew gum anymore, but I can eat hard food during meals! I can’t tell you that your pain will go away, but before I am having hard meals or if I feel like snacking candies I pop 3 ibuprofen to prevent the sharp pain… I also did chiropractic/physio and saw a TMJ surgeon but none of it helped and the surgeon said the chances of not having pain anymore are slim. I hope you’ll find tips and tricks on how to manage your pain like I did 🥰

Chicken and waffles is a very common breakfast combo in the southern United States. We eat it with pancake syrup though rather than a spicy sauce or bbq sauce. :)

For your TMJ, try to pay attention on your eating. Smaller bites, choose the side that makes it feel most comfortable. I have jaw pain from migraines and sensitive teeth. Sometimes soup is just the best option. Or something like dumpling in bouillon with vermicelli, nice and soft does not even require chewing much. Do not eat hard of chewy food/candy. Like in this video that might have been to much for your jaw.
And make sure if your jaw is acting up to have 2 - 4 days of easy food so it can recover.

People in America that intimately know and love chicken and waffles are wondering how they are Christmas foods? Being from us and the only Christmas foods we have are candy's and dinners we make im just so astonished at all the Christmas themed stuff in the UK

About your TMJ, you could ask your dentist if you would benefit from wearing a TMJ splint at night. The dental office should be able to make you one if so.

To help with the tmj get a mouth guard for night time to prevent soreness next day after grinding teeth all night. It has helped me a lot and it is a forever thing.

I have TMJ and have had symptoms of aching jaw and cracking and locking joint on the right side of my jaw for 15 years. The longer it goes the more consistant the ache and pain. Anything chewy or crunchy is going to irritate it. If you can find a chiropractor that focuses on releasing tension from the spine it might help (it helps me). It won't fix it but it'll ease it quite a bit.

I have TMJ too. You're having a flare up. Take Tylenol or Advil every 4 hours for about 4 to 7 days. Also, you're probably clenching your jaw without realizing it. Try to make a habit of keeping your tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth, and that will keep you from clenching. Feel better! I know it hurts ❤️🥰

I'm from Germany. The kinder surprise is sold from winter to summer. They switch to kinder joy, the cream filled egg for summer and then back to the surprise egg. Maybe that's why you know the kinder joy 🙃

I just got diagnosed with TMJ this past summer… crunchy stuff irritates it! And stuff you have to bite into like sandwiches etc. what helps me is…heat, Advil, CBD.

I'm in the US and I don't think I've ever seen Christmas specific food. They just take our usual candy, drinks & snacks and slap a Santa, Rudolph or Elf pic on them lol.
I've never had Christmas pudding. It doesn't look very pleasant lol. What does it taste like? I don't think I've ever had fruit cake either. 🤷‍♀️😂

I have TMJ/TMD they are the same. Tempromandibular joint dysfunction. I was diagnosed at 15. By the time I was 22, I became so sick. So many nerves run through the sides of our face, it creates big problems. The dr told me I would have muscle issues when I got older. But, my dentist made me an appliance which is basically a retainer. I wore that during the day, not night. It forced my bite in a position where your body can repair that damage in your jaw. I wore it for ten years. You don’t need to wear them that long, but it made me feel so much better I just kept wearing it. Now my jaw is set in that position where my retainer kept it. Best thing I ever did. The surgery for it, doesn’t help and many people end up with permanent numbness in their face. When the x-rays were taken when I hit 22. The x-ray technician came out and asked how bad the accident was. My dad was confused. Technician said he had never seen damage like that in a jaw before and it not be a car accident. I was coming from a place of extreme pain, the clicking, the ears ringing. Please don’t let yourself get so bad that finally someone will pay attention. Find a dentist that knows TMJ/TMD and get an appliance. Have them get your jaw into a position where it won’t damage it anymore. I’m now 56, absolutely love you! My jaw has bothered me once in a great while over the years. Constant pain will take a toll on you mentally and physically. Put a heating pad on the side of your face as you go to sleep, it helps, a lot when it hurts. Eat anti inflammatory foods while you are having a flare. You’re amazing and I don’t want to see this take up your life.
