Every time Bill said, "traditional Buick buyers" and showed Mr. and Mrs. Howell, then a very old couple, then a pair of skeletons, and then a graveyard, well, I hadn't stopped laughing from the first one!
Growing up as a teenager in the 80’s I would love to have a Park Avenue like the one my mother and Grandmother had back then. Both were 1984 year models. Beautiful cars!
I was 31 in 1985 married, 3 kids under 5 and wanted this Buick. Car seat laws were not as strict as today. My wife thought it was a bit too expensive, so I bought it’s sister, 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royals Brougham Coupe. It was about $500-$1,000 cheaper but except for cosmetics, it was the same car, frame, chassis, engine 5 litre/307 ci V8, 4 Bbl carb. Velour pillowed interior, AM/FM Cassette stereo, AC. Absolutely gorgeous, luxurious, and comfortable. Had it for 8 years before selling it and moving on to SUVs.
Gotta love Full-size GM malaise-era land yachts. The kinda car that an old school coloréd-man could punch a woman inside-of, and wind-up, all the way back, and put his hip into the punch.

@@E_Legal_Alien I’m shocked Buick is still alive and has a pulse but all the make now are crappy SUVs. I wish Pontiac was still around. They at least made some cool stuff once in a while.
What a stunning find. My grandparents had this car, in a 1984 version… it was light yellow with light green - it was a stunning car. I do remember it had the V6 and my grandfather always complained about the power - given he traded in his Chrysler New Yorker that had a 440 ha. He bought the Buick because my grandmother loved it. I imagine Bill driving a beautiful classic like this…
Good morning! Bill- “traditional Buick buyer” with the Howells then the even older couple, then the skeletons, then the graveyard gag had me howling! Your crabbiness, misanthropy and wildlife phobia in these reviews is a source of endless laughs. We love you!
Thank you Bill! During these difficult times, it’s nice to watch your show, and laugh at your jokes, so that we can forget about the craziness going on for at least 30-40 minutes.
SO MUCH character in this lovely car...I love the huge expanses of fake wood trim and how it encircles the round gauges, the blue rolled velour seats that ya wanna be swallowed up in...like watching "The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island" in your living room, while driving. Truly EPIC. Never stop, Bill. Never stop. God bless, JV Johnny :)
Buicks were such great cars. I had a supercharged Park Avenue and later a Regal. I enjoyed them both. I found them very reliable, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. It is sad at what Buick has become these days.
I bought a 1984 Buick LeSabre Limited Coupe from Copart in Iowa in 2017. Outside of the transporter losing the title (almost fixed after dealing with Copart and Iowa), I know it's a perfect car. 64,000 miles and donated by a family. I did add American Racing Vectors, so now it looks as good as this one!
In the early 1990's I owned a used 1983 Buick Le Sabre Limited coupe. It had the velour living room front seats, full power and landau roof. The only drawbacks were the lousy water based paints GM was using back then and the original owners engine choice of the 3.8 liter V6. Although it would never have been first off the line it was more than a decent runner at highway speeds. It was also the best snow car I've ever owned with rear wheel drive. I got a lot of good miles out of her during the years I owned her. This video brought back a lot of memories since not much had changed in 2 years.
I have always loved the LeSabre. My father had a 75 coupe when I was born, and then we also had the fwd H body. That was an 89 LeSabre T-type coupe that I think is pretty special and rare
My dad had a 1959 Le Sabre Convertible...bright red, swoopy huge tail fins...incredible that Americans went for those off the wall designs back then...but it was somehow beautiful...today, it would be worth around a hundred grand!
Another one of your hand & foot collector specials, Bill! Beautifully styled exterior and if you overlook the pillow lounge chair interior, an attractive instrument cluster and dash with a very large fuel gauge.
I have on of these. I drive it back and forth to work 5 days a week to preserve my W212 Mercedes E Class as my retirement car. This is my beater now- has been for about 3 years . 22 years ago when I bought it, it was not a beater. The PA rust belt has taken it's toll and this will likely be it's last year of use. It's a tank, and pretty reliable. No power out of the 307, not now, not ever. Even if I had the deepest of pockets I would buy one like this ready to go and forego a restoration on cars of this genre. Nice find. Thanks.
I am around your same age with the same Love of cars. I also enjoyed working at Dealerships in the 1980's. Funny how the cars of the 1960's, 1970's, and early 1980's we're all great in there own ways.My favorite cars are: 1965 Plymouth Satellite convertible 1967 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon fully Loaded. 1969 Ford Torino with the Cobra Jet Engine 1969 Pontiac Firebird 1973 Buick Riviera with the Sunroof 1976 Olds Cutlass Supreme 1980 Buick Park Avenue 1985 Buick Riviera 1985 Olds Cutlass Supreme All very different types of cars but each had something special. Thank you!!!!
Bill you are a national treasure. The highlight of my week is to get the notification of a new video. Also on the Buick front, please do a video on that candy apple red Riviera in Penelopes garage.Love your videos.
I had a 79 Regency 98 with the Olds 403. Great car and it was pretty quick back in 89-90. Easy to work on, reliable, great ride. Then picked up a Delta 88 4 door in 1991-93 with the Olds 307. Beautiful car, rode like riding on a cloud. Great second hand cars you could get for under $2000 back in the 80s-90s and they were well maintained. B bodies were cool rides.
Thank you Bill for another awesome video. I wish you knew the joy I get watching your videos and how excited I get when I see you have put up a new one. Watching your videos I know I’m going to see a great car, I’m going to laugh and I’m going to learn. By the way I love, love, love your rambling. Don’t stop. One thing I did notice is that you use your turn signals when you make a turn or change lanes. Is that a Naples thing because everywhere else in Florida nobody uses their signals. They may as well not even have them in their car. I commend you.
Thanks Bill for each of your videos. They brighten my day every day and they mean a lot to me. Always interesting and always entertaining. I love your insights into everything automotive. Thanks Bill!
That dash looks really great at night...the 2 large circles & central PDRL are quite attractive. The 2 little turning light indicators compliment the design (even if it’s ridiculous that the right circle is just a fuel indicator). The exterior was well done: chrome, roofline, deck, hood - all nice proportions. I especially like the belt on the landau roof. The rear non-functional windows support that little rise in the lateral line at the rear deck. It’s handsome if a bit plain...with a swig of Soviet whiskey it looks even better. Love that it is body on frame & has an Olds power plant....It’s comfort came thru the video - you could almost feel it - when it was on the road. Buick died poor but his name is on a bunch of great cars...
It shouldn't, this car has the 2.73 highway econo gear RPO GU2 according to the option sticker. I'm sure that engine was loafing along at about 1,400 RPM.
I tried hard to buy one of those in black from a friend. Same rims and all.... Had the 350 in it. Best GM lux coupe from the 80's, imho. Loved driving that big girl.
My dad had a 1982 Limited with the 307 that was probably built at 4:59pm on a Friday before Memorial Day. Body mounted crooked with a tilt and hard to start in the summer but still I loved that car and learned to drive on it. That engine sound is unforgettable. What a beautiful specimen.
That ivory on the blue velour with blue vinyl top is a looker. I had an 85 bronze with dark tan velour interior with a tan vinyl top. It was a nice car. The gas gauge quit working on it and I ran out of gas driving that car in the middle of rural Kansas in 1994. Thanks to the kindness of a trucker I was able to get a gas can and get back on the road back to Colorado. It was a quiet cruiser with seats that would leave you with zero fatigue after a day behind the wheel.
Mom had a '79 -- same style. BEST family touring car ever! It was BURGUNDY -- The interior looked like Elvis did the decorating! But those velvet seats were the softest, most plush things. I'm afraid the Canadians would have been scandalized sitting in those rolls of decadent stuffed velvet! Mom later moved up to the '83 Park Avenue. That might also be in the running for the last unapologetically American car. Another great car review from The Master!
I remember loving this model Buick LeSabre during the early/mid 80's b4 I had even learned to drive & the 85' is still my favorite Buick of the 80's & beyond..
My 2017 Lacrosse AWD is a real nice Buick, a lot of luxury and sportiness,an Aisen 8spd at. tran and a twinster all wheel drive system, 160 mph,310+hp, and 33+mpg on the highway
Bill, thanks again. I'd rather sit on these seats than any being produced now. These are really good cars and will easily last 250K miles and longer with good maintenance. The Olds 307 engine is excellent too. And the parts don't cost much. The B-body cars are what GM did best and they sustained GM for decades. These cars have everything that we don't have in cars today. Just one of these things is arriving at your destination relaxed and refreshed.
I daily drive a 1977 LeSabre Sport Coupe with a mildly rebuilt emissions free 350. It’s the best car I’ve ever had and imo ever as beautiful as a coupe from the 60s.
I love your opening cut scenes. I was a young teen in the 80’s and the dashboard at night reminds me of sitting in the front seat while he drove one of his company cars.
I always laugh at the “your Canadians” reference. I enjoy your videos, Bill. Keep up the great work. You are a voice of reason in these lackluster automobile days we live in right now.
Had that exact exterior color 2dr with the same wheels. I had opera lamps, a tan interior and the electronic climate control. My 307 threw a rod - sold the car to a co-workers kid in mechanic's school. He swapped the engine for class and drove it for years.
I love your Commentary Bill. Your videos are awesome and full of information. Thx for the knowledge and for the Laughs. Keep em coming. Please..... :-)
Bill I absolutely love your videos. It helps that we like many of the same cars. This time you did another car that I used to own. Mine was even a white 2 door but it had grey interior. I lusted after those wheels though which mine did not have. I always felt like the CE was Buick's way of getting one more year of the big RWD luxo model since they put the Park Avenue interior in it and the Park Avenue had already been downsized to a FWD car for '85. They did offer the electronic touch climate control which mine had along with the twilight sentinel and leather seats. I was 19 when I bought that car and it was only a few years old. People used to think I was driving daddy's car.... to which I said, daddy wishes he had such a nice car! God I loved that car! Keep the stories coming Bill!
Appreciate all of your videos. Always learning so much history, and love seeing these vehicles.. and it's entertaining listening to how the weather is in Naples, lol. Coronavirus whiskey, hahaha!
Beautiful Buick LeSabre coupe! My brother bought a new 1978 LeSabre 4 door when I was in 8th grade (I was 14, he was approaching his 30s). He loves those cars. Cash for Clunkers was a damn shame.
My Mom had an '83 LeSabre back in the early 90's. Only "options" were air conditioning and an AM radio. As a teenager at the time, I treated her to a Realistic AM/FM cassette player for her birthday one year, installed by yours truly, lol. The car was a nice cruiser although it could barely get out of it's own way with the 4.1 V6 under the hood, behind what seemed like a 3 foot long fan shroud. 🤣🤣
I have long had an inexplicable fondness for Buicks.... my father had a LeSabre in the early 70's.... that thing was huge and comfortable and silent as a whisper.
I had one of these in high school. It was green with green leather seats. I loved that car. It had the 301 Pontiac engine and seemed plenty peppy to me at the time.
It is not difficult to do. keep it out of the weather when not in use and keep it clean, in and out. Keeping a car clean takes more time than most people are willing to spend.
Awesome video Bill. Mercedes actually perpetuated the myth that the 5.7L Diesel was a converted 350 gas unit. Actually it wasn't and the 5.7L Diesel was designed as a diesel. The first generation 5.7L diesel was a total disaster that blew head gaskets due to head bold issues. Typical GM they revised the block and created the 5.7L DX engine in late 1981. They steadily improved that engine by 1984, but it was too late..too many failures and they pulled it from the market. I had two DXs and they were good, smooth, but slow. Very economcial though.
What a fantastic ride! Thank you Bill for the excellent review of this B-body beauty, you always have incredible content in your video reviews. When you drive a car like that one has to wonder why would you buy a modern car. They build cars to break today, so they can hose people for parts and repairs. When it comes down to it the decision to buy, restore, and daily drive an American car from the 80's back just makes more sense. But most folks today want to drive an SUV, a vehicle that no matter where it's made, look all the same... ugly, no style, cookie cutter, turds. ...but there so much safer, blah, blah, blah. lol
This Buick is perfect. For me at least. Pure beautiful... I had a 1983 Buick Electra Limited, 2-dr. Wish I had another one. Or a LeSabre like this. They drove so good.
beautiful car!👍 i have a 2018 regal essence with the 2.0 turbo. it was built by the krauts in Russelsheim Germany. i keep up on the maintenance and it runs great and looks nice... for a modern car.

42 year old Mr Howell
Had an 85 Collectors Edition coupe. Black w/maroon interior. Had the chrome Buick road wheels. What a sharp car it was. Rode as good as my Cadillac
Growing up as a teenager in the 80’s I would love to have a Park Avenue like the one my mother and Grandmother had back then. Both were 1984 year models. Beautiful cars!
"Unapologetically American" sums up Bill's channel more than anything else.
Unapologetically American and unapologetically obtuse.
America.....fuck yeah! 😋

I can't believe how clean this is! Wow! I love just about every variation of the 80s GM B body!
Sweet ride. I wanted the Oldsmobile version back then.
Agreed. But it's a mid-80s GM. This was truly the absolute nadir of this once great corporation.

That car is absolutely beautiful
Had that exact exterior color 2dr with the same wheels. I had opera lamps, a tan interior and the electronic climate control. My 307 threw a rod - sold the car to a co-workers kid in mechanic's school. He swapped the engine for class and drove it for years.
Those wheels are awesome.
Gorgeous Buick bill such a smooth ride for the highway
Always loved the gauge cluster in these Buicks!
Me too! The most beautiful dash of all American cars in this class at the time.
Super clean ride Bill. Superb Buick history highlights. What a shame what happened to him.
Same motor as my 87 cutlass, very smooth, man that's a nice ride!!
3.1
@@robertroberts9782 4.1. I should know, I ordered parts for it from the dealership where I worked at the time. Google it.
@@robertroberts9782 3100 were in the smaller variants.
Awesome Buick! I love these models. I remember back when NASCAR looked like these.
I have long had an inexplicable fondness for Buicks.... my father had a LeSabre in the early 70's.... that thing was huge and comfortable and silent as a whisper.
thank you for being you. the history and the cars are also great.
Those l.e.d lights in the dash give it a decent fresh look. Love it💯
I like the handsome Buick Coupe that you just featured. Very sharp classic American full-size Coupe.
The Auto Guard stickers was so funny, I almost spit my cereal out….!
Great review as always.
It needs its original 323 fixed load flasher for the turn signals. Someone has swapped in a 552.
I had one of these in high school. It was green with green leather seats. I loved that car. It had the 301 Pontiac engine and seemed plenty peppy to me at the time.
Thank you bill!!
You're right! Who can keep a car like that in that condition? Would be great to interview them!
Another great review.
It is not difficult to do. keep it out of the weather when not in use and keep it clean, in and out. Keeping a car clean takes more time than most people are willing to spend.
yeah no dents or scratches
I got one of the last great Buick sedans, 2012 Regal GS. I have 148,000 miles on it, but I don't want to get rid of it!
Do you think GM should have turbocharged the diesel?
The 350DX Block Is A Very Strong Block & Many Have Had Great Success Converting Them Over To Gas 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Great video keep ‘em coming Bill.
But most folks today want to drive an SUV, a vehicle that no matter where it's made, look all the same... ugly, no style, cookie cutter, turds. ...but there so much safer, blah, blah, blah. lol
80 to 85 LeSabre had superior styling, but that 260 hp 5.7L in the 94 to 96 Roadmaster more than make up for the awkward styling.
Wasn't that the same engine used in the Camaro at that time?
I learned to drive in a LeSabre like this.
This Buick is perfect. For me at least. Pure beautiful... I had a 1983 Buick Electra Limited, 2-dr. Wish I had another one. Or a LeSabre like this. They drove so good.
beautiful car!👍
i have a 2018 regal essence with the 2.0 turbo. it was built by the krauts in Russelsheim Germany. i keep up on the maintenance and it runs great and looks nice... for a modern car.
