Recently I saw a comment on another site complaining about the use of this aria in a commercial. Look how many people saw the commercial, heard the beauty of the aria, discovered the singer and saw this video. Perfect. Schubert would be happy that thousands of people are hearing his work. Maureen Batt's voice is lovely. I found her because of the commercial.

I agree with the people who do not think this is a song that should be commercialized. Just my opinion.
The subject matter has nothing to do with any corporation.
Jeff Claterbaugh You are, of course, are entitled to your opinion. I just believe that brining people to this music is a good think for many reasons.
Pam, you entirely miss the point. Apparently there is nothing you hold sacred, nothing that you don't think should not be commercialized, and no one's sincerely held religious beliefs you think are worth respecting.

Alas, this is not the Amazon version. The second verse demonstrates this. In Latin, the words are Gratia Plena, and that's what we hear in the commercial. A different language (German?) is used in this version.

This is probably one of the best performances of this song I have ever heard, and my grandmother was catholic, so I've heard a lot of them.

I knew of this song, coming from a polish / irish catholic background on dad's side and catholic on grandmothers side, I knew of this song before the commercial, but I have to say this is one of the best performances I have heard in a long time

this version does not reflect the slow majesty of the version used in the commercial. in fact this hardly sounds like Maureen Batt in that performance. it is abbreviated, chopped at the end of each phrase. I want to hear the entire version of what she sang for Amazon.
This is not the Amazon version. The Amazon version is in Latin, but this version appears to be in German or some other language. The giveaway is the second verse. In the Latin version the words are Gratia Plena, and that's what we hear in the Amazon version, but not in this version. As such, we can't tell if it is Maureen Batt or someone else.
