Larry Bird. Probably the most intelligent player ever. RIP Dennis Johnson. Great guy and Larry Bird's favorite teammate. He always gave 100 percent. Red, he is just a legend and was part of the beginning of the NBA. What you have here is a gem.
Why was larry bird the most intelligent player ever? cause he's white? Dude, STFU. There is no such thing as most intelligent player ever, we don't know their IQ levels, and it's all opinions. So your ignorant comment was an opinion.
Right On. Larry definitely had one of the most highest IQ on court ever. The dude would run circles around his opponent. If Larry was playing today in this weakass era it would be over.
Michael Jordan hands down highest iq in basketball not even a debate Larry is not better than LeBron let's be real. Larry is great but it's easier too stop him from impacting a game than LeBron in my opinion..
Red Auerbach one of the greatest minds and coaches in Basketball history.. Drafted Larry Bird in his junior year of college… Larry Bird and DJ two of the greatest players to play the game.. That’s a winning combo.. I miss those days!!
I remember my coach showing up this video in 5th grade! Eventho Larry Bird was out of the league at that time for a long time , I thought he was the greatest shooter ever.

For being portrayed as a hot head, Red sure seems like a warm, welcoming, intelligent coach. I know playoffs gets you heated, but he’s just giving away amazing fundamental skills and tips for free. Seems more like a student of the game and teacher then that HBO show showed as a heartless competitor.
Couldn't agree more. If God blesses me with a son (or daughter) and they take an interest in the greatest sport on the planet, they'll definitely be watching some Larry Bird highlights (THIS is how you play basketball! A team sport I thought? haha Thanks for tuning in! Go CATS & Go Celts!

I wonder where they are. Looks like a high school gym. Can you imagine being in high school in the 80s and these guys show up after school to practice?
Which is crazy because Larry wasnt the most athletic player in the league, even he knew that, and is yet still one of the greatest players because of his court smarts and motivation to finish what he does. Basketball players seem almost disposable nowadays because they all try to play the same.
Dominique Wilkins says something to that effect in an interview. Asking young guys if they would rather be athletic or have great fundamentals/IQ, or words to that effect. He said they usually say athlete and he tells them that that is their first mistake. Athleticism will get you some oohs and aahs. The other will get you consistent Wins.
I hear it’s statistic before if you took all the money and resources and time and materials put into building the basketball stadiums and everybody buying the ticket and driving there you could’ve literally built a home for every citizen in America it would really be nice if we all put our time and energy into actually fruitful things

Race-baiting Prick.
Red pioneered modern basketball starting in the 50s. He was decades ahead of other coaches and GMs.
Unfortunately iso ball has ruined the NBA. If you had a team playing Auerbach fundamental ball, they would be unstoppable.

Larry just can’t miss
RIP Red Auerbach

Red Auerbach was awesome man. Cool to see Larry laughing. He’s so tiny and old but so cool.

Does he not look 3.5 inches taller than Parish?
