So if magick is the filter of divine will, is there illusion of control or do we have control? meaning if the hga or higher self ultimately decides what manifests or not, what is the point of doing magick?
This is a good question. I hope it’s not too cheesy for me to say “search within for an answer” .. I think one of the best ways to find the answer is to continue your practice. I will give the best answer that I can and I’m not sure if this will help! I want to separate control and divine will. We perform Magick for two main reasons, and that’s to reconnect with divinity, and to realize our true desires. I also want to separate true desires from lower-level pleasures. Sometimes the pleasures get in the way of our true desire. There are many paths to reunite with divinity, but High Magick is what works for me. The point of Magick is to change your energy, it changes you. When you change, then the outside world changes because they are one and the same. This is free will. You have the free will to choose another path, or to have cognitive dissonance, to choose pleasures over true desire, or to continue practice and move toward self-actualization. When you have something you want and you perform Magick for it, then you increase your chances of getting it. This is because your attention IS Magick. Most of us go through life not truly paying attention or giving intention in regards to what we think we want and this is unfulfilling. Not giving attention decreases our chances of manifesting what we want. Performing Magick is giving your dedicated attention and intention to something. I hope this makes sense. You definitely have free will, but you don’t have full control. We can change the circumstances in our life to the best of our ability but all we can truly change is ourselves. When we change ourselves though, the outside will respond accordingly. We just can’t control all of the ways that the macrocosm responds.
@@theesotericcross so i have true desires and the goal is to get in contact with true desires. And instead of changing the world, I should change myself and increase likelihood of developing my true desires.
Egoic wishes involve things like comfort, stability, sex, drugs, money
True will desires- uncomfortable, unfamiliar, challenge, fulfillment, setback, etc.
What is true desire?
You are on it! True desire has to do with fulfillment. Some of the simple pleasures can enhance the true desires and some can get in the way of them. It really depends on the approach. Example: You could have a true desire for deep connection. Lower-level pleasures like sex, drugs, bad friendships, the inability to be single (even though each relationship is toxic) could be getting in the way of this. But we seek these things because it seems like it will fill that void, as if it gives us connection. If we look deeper, the true desire is a deep connection. It may take time, but disconnecting from the “pleasures” (aka. Suffering) will deepen your connection with yourself and with the creator. We then come from a place of not needing to fill a psychological need because the need is met. It is then easier to attract deep connections with other people and within a relationship because you are deep with yourself. Then, things like sex, friendships, and romance become deeply sacred and enhance the connection. This is also a powerful way that Magick works because it is a process of deepening connection with the self and creator. Some other true desires can be things like self-expression. I actually think stability is a true desire and not a lower level pleasure. Finances enhance stability. But chasing money is the equivalent of chasing sex in hopes of a deep connection.
