      PERFECT RESPONSE. I can tell by these comments there are many close minded sheeple in this world. If something doesn't fit in the 'box' they've been brainwashed to believe, it obviously is 'wrong', has no merit, and is being talked about because people need 'attention' smh. What a shame. I'm so grateful to be openminded.

    I definitely understand them. People have to understand we live in a day and age where people are different and want different outside of a typical nuclear family. Life isn't only about the typical nuclear family: mom, dad, kids, and dog. There are so many types of families these days. I understand this as a single person who consistently gets judge for not wanting to be married now. I respect people who make plans for their life, clearly they may be better at communicating than some people that fit the nuclear family.

    One time I was listening to a podcast on the history of friendship and it was fascinating. For example, the word "Kin" in the English language used to mean family AND friends! So, I don't see this relationship as being weird at all. As long as a person has companionship and connection with others... then you really have all you need to for a very happy healthy life. Sex is over rated..... it's the companionship and having someone who has your back that matters the most.

    I thought about this!!! I thought about finding a best friend because i feel like friendships are closer to family. Romantic love dies off. Friends are the ones who be there for you after your heart broken or go through serious stuff in your life. I feel like friendships are downplayed or underrated. If I’m going to put my all trust in someone why not it be my best friend. We can obviously still have romantic and sexual relationships outside our marriage and if somehow a romantic relationship becomes serious it’ll be similar to polyamory. We’ll have our own romantic partners on the side.

    Don't be closed-minded people. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it can not exist. It is completely possible for asexual (or otherwise) people to be in loving same sex or opposite sex relationships without intimacy or romance. This comment section sounds like it's stuck in the 1950s. 😑

      @@alisharo58 Then why would they stand there wearing a symbolic wedding dress with a veil on one of their heads, holding hands and looking lovingly into each other's eyes if they're not calling themselves having a gay marriage? They're messing with people's heads!

    • @HeadDetectiveLassie
      @HeadDetectiveLassie 2 роки тому +3

      @@teenamaree5660 Because symbolism has been divorced from tradition. Bridal dresses and veils are not universal aspects of marriage across time nor location, and marriage was a contractual affair far longer in history than it was an expression of romantic love.
      They chose a way that legitimizes their commitment to one another legally and culturally, and they had fun doing it.
      Many people dream of their wedding day. They want the dress and the cake and party, so why not? Just because they aren't marrying a romantic partner, doesn't mean they have to miss out on the experience.
      A wedding ceremony is not necessary for a marriage. You can sign a paper in front of the judge and be married despite the romanticized notion that a ceremony is needed to show eternal commitment. People have the ceremony and party to celebrate. It's a party, and they wanted to party! 🥳

    • @HeadDetectiveLassie
      @HeadDetectiveLassie 2 роки тому +1

      @@teenamaree5660 Also, gay constitutes same gender romantic and/or sexual attraction, so a wedding without those is not a gay wedding. It's just a wedding with two women who share platonic feelings.
      Just because someone has preconceived notions about something doesn't mean they are right. Maintaining one's confusion and denial past explanation is choosing to be stubborn.
      Like two women holding hands can be friends, sisters, girlfriends, etc. A clear liquid could be water or vinegar. The gem could be a diamond or crystal.
      Appearance and one's idea of what it means are not enough to know. People have to be willing to examine, ask questions, and listen to the answers to understand.

    I'm quite surprised by the comments here, so I'll leave my piece here for someone who may need it. Marriages can be for love, and are more commonly so in the modern era, but primarily they're a way to secure oneself and your family line. Marriages were mostly politically motivated or for the benefits of being married rather than for love alone, if at all. Two best friends marrying for love, despite it not being a romantic love, is securing their relationship and giving them both a life they benefit from. If a romantic partner is introduced it simply means they're an addition to the family unit, not an upgrade. It's well known throughout history that people have married romantically and have had the opportunity to add on to their union legally. This isn't the case now, which is unfortunate as polyamoury has become much more equal in structure and so is acceptable in a way that old polyamoury wasn't. Regardless, partnerships are unique to everyone and this is a great example of a healthy platonic relationship.

    I was okay with this until they talked about if they found someone to be romantically involved with. I kinda don't understand the getting married part if they are still open to meeting someone and breaking their celibacy. Maybe these BFF's wanted to make sure that when one of them passes, the other would always be financially protected 🤔? Or maybe it's not for me to understand? Don't mind me. The legalities of what marriage brings is what attracts people to platonic marriages from what I've read. It's a way of ensuring that LEGALLY they are bonded and can speak on one another's behalf should serious matters arise (not everyone has or wants someone in their immediate family to do this for them).
      Them getting married as friends is not about depriving/limiting themselves of someone they may have a true romantic attraction to, they still have that option, as they should.
      It takes an open mind to understand an agreement like this, because as like they mentioned many people look at friendships as an 'afterthought' and don't hold them to near the standard they would a romantic or sexual relationship. In reality, if we poured just as much effort into friendships as we do romance and sex, you'll find they are just as fulfilling and can enrich our lives on many levels.

      They do every single thing a gay couple would do, yet they want you to believe that they are not sexually or romantically involved! These are two apparently physically healthy young women here. No matter who you are, if there's nothing wrong with you, you will have sexual desires crop up at some point, even if it's infrequent! And if you are two people who are very affectionate, sleeping in the same bed, claiming you don't engage in sexual interactions between you, what happens when one of you gets the urge to self gratify in the middle of the night? Do they seriously want people to believe that when that happens, the other one just ignores what's going on and just rolls over and continues sleeping when, all the while, they've been lying around on the couch cuddling and kissing ( whether it's on the cheek or whatever, it's still kissing)! If that's not romance, then I don't know what romance is! Most heterosexual women in marriages, or just in sexual relationships, aren't privileged to that much affection! The best most of them get from their men is a kiss or two in the bedroom, before they go at it! What comes to mind for me is that those two women are engaging in cognitive semantics or, perhaps, what we perceive to be sexual or romantic, versus what actually falls under that umbrella of reasoning. By this, what I'm trying to say (with my limited communication skills) is that perhaps they don't engage in genital to genital sexual relations....that, perhaps they use objects to assist in satisfying each other's urges based on their concern for each other's happiness as Bffs. So, utilizing that convoluted form of reasoning they justify labelling their legal commitment to each other as a platonic marriage. It perplexes me that I can even imagine that mode of thinking. But I'm only able to do so because I was an active lesbian for 15 years...from 1976 - 1991. I wholeheartedly surrendered my life to Jesus Christ in Oct. 1991. In that same hour, the Lord delivered me from acting on those inclinations and I began a scriptural process of recovering from the propensity to behave that way, during the span of the next 10 years. Homosexuality, like alcoholism, is a physical, spiritual and emotional malady. Those who find it doable to act out that way have not yet developed a heartfelt relationship with God (through Christ), which causes them to be emotional unstable when it comes to accepting opposite sex relationships. For that reason, they are able to engage in same sex relations because there's nothing built up in their spirit to keep them from following through with satisfying those forbidden desires.
